Mark's Postcard Paradise
thrillerman1 replied to thrillerman1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wait is this postcard referring to the name of the coaster or the big snowstorm that moved through the south and up the east coast last week? Well...hopefully it's NOT referring to the cheesey 80's rock band! So yeah I loved Morey's. I was totally unprepared when I drove up to this seaside wonder back in '05. I had been to a couple of other piers that morning and Clementon's in the afternoon, all of which were fairly dead. Then I drove to Morey's and discovered this is where all the action was happening. The place was jam packed with wall to wall people and amusements. It had a really great, lively atmosphere and is a place I would absolutely love to visit again someday. Once bitten, definitely NOT twice shy! Second verse same as the first Myyyy my my -

The Sky Whirl should be listed as one of the 7 greatest inventions of mankind...or something like that. Nice card Shane! -

This whole time I've been thinking the Magic Pagoda was the white looking geometric shaped smaller structure to the right of the Sky Tower. I just realized that's something different. What was that structure? -

I've not been to CW since summer of 8th grade when my parents and I did a trip all the way up to Vermont and back down to Alabama again. I must say it does look better with snow! Thanks Chuck. -

I tell ya Steve and Lou if the Bandit on-ride video ever just happened to make it's way to "America's Funniest Home Videos", both of you would have any and all future TPR trips paid off for a very long time! Best on-ride video EVER!!! -

^^ That card is gorgeous! It looks like there is some construction going on in the upper right corner of the card. Hmm I wonder what that was about. Also, don't forget Kings Island had one of the Intamin double armed wheels too on which I was fortunate to take a spin way back in the awesome 80's. Thanks for the Magic Pagoda description on the previous page Bill. -

Looking at the webcam and the new pieces of the drop which have been installed today, I realized it's a good bit steeper than I had originally imagined. -

So I'm curious about this Magic Pagoda attraction. I believe this is the first time I've ever heard of it. So what exactly was it? What happened to its remains? What is in its former location now? Details, details, details! Someone really needs to publish a book (accompanied by a DVD of course) on the history of the park. -

Man Memphis got really lucky. I saw where north of the city got even more at 10". Pretty sweet since I love snow, but Nashville totally got duped this round. Sadly we may have had a 1/4" at best and all around us was at least a foot if not more! -

AstroWorld really was a gem of a park back in the 80's. I'm glad I got to visit it (1982ish) and again on the final closing weekend. I will never understand Six Flags' (i.e. Kieran Burke) rationale for pulling out of the 4th biggest market in the US. I think Shapiro would have given it more of a chance of survival. -

From last week's Matterhorn to this week's, here's the original, and it appears that the snow is melting and Spring is just around the corner. One question...Why do I keep hearing that from "The Price is Right" gameshow in my head? I figure all you monorail fanboys will like this one too! Yodel-Ay-Ee-Oooo -

This is really great Divv! Fun to relive the trip through someone else's eyes and see their different experiences. WOW Formule X was probably the biggest surprise of the trip for me. I absolutely loved it! Can we get one of these at Beech Bend please? Anyway, I can't wait to see more of your pics. Thanks for sharing! -

This looks sweet. I love off the beaten path type of roadside attractions (such as "The Thing" in New Mexico), and this would probably fit the bill perfectly. Do I smell a forthcoming NW TPR trip takeover? -

One of my favorite parts of Batman Begins is at the end when the Joker is alluded to with the playing card. I think that's about all we are told of his background. -

I don't know...I just always feel like it's still Jack Nicholson with clown makeup. Maybe I need to go back and watch it again since it's been a long time. I do prefer the Burton/Gothic look of Gotham over the grittier Chicago look. That's one thing that bothered me about the continuity between BB and TDK. Where did all the elevated train tracks go? On a side note, does anyone else happen to have the McDonald's collector glasses from when Batman Forever came out? I just found mine when I was moving a few weeks ago. -
2009 Academy Award Winners - The "Oscars"

While I liked Nicholson's version of the Joker a lot, I feel he was portraying the character. With Ledger, I actually felt that he became and was the living embodiment of the Joker...no portrayal involved. Same thing Heath was able to do with Brokeback Mountain. I say he definitely deserved the award.
