Photo TR: SFMM 11/3
Mr.Six replied to infinitethrill's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Are those pictures even of the 'Magic Fire'? I remember that night, or the day after three fires were set at the same time during the middle of the night. One right behind that Cheveron station. Anyone else know what I'm talking about? -mike -
Getting stuck on a ride!
Mr.Six replied to disneygurlz2s's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Indiana Jones at Disneyland - Entering the Hall of Promise we stopped. Were there for about 10 to 15 minutes and then evacuated. Scream! at SFMM - Been stuck on the lift multiple times. Never more than 7 minutes or so. Deja vu at SFMM - Tower II - The Riddler's Revenge - SFMM- In station - 45 minutes - It was hot as hell, but ( the crew or supervisors ) I can't remember, brought us all bottled water. Batman - The ride : Stopped at upper lift. Not sure if it was a seatbelt or blocked trains. Either way an op walked up, reset lift, and we were on our way in under 5 minutes. Revolution - I've been stopped at all the brakes due to errors during safety rides/block check. Jurassic Park - USH- Stopped on ...What is that? Lift B - Main lift? For about 10 minutes. _six -
Are there problems with SFMM employees? Of course. But tell Guest Relations to call around and have their leads and supervisors inform their workers that comp. tickets are being given out. I think that is doable, in fact it was done during a very rainy day a month ago. I received a phone call and then guess what, I told my crew and they knew. PURE, its not that I don't see your point. I think there does need to be better communication throughout the park as a whole. But I'm just going to give you some advice, if you want people to take your view seriously, please don't result to name calling. _six

Wildfires near Six Flags Magic Mountain
Mr.Six replied to mindvirus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We already have two topics. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=39537&start=70 http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26782&start=1830 _six -
Yeah, yesterday was horrible. I'm shocked we didn't close. More rides were down due to high winds then due to rain. People could hardly breath because of all the ash, a lot of the workers felt sick having to run around in all that. Yesterday, these are the rides that were closed: Deja vu X Batman Scream Tatsu Ninja Roaring Rapids Tidal Wave Sky Tower (Am I forgetting any?) I'm not sure about Colossus... but the rides that did stay open just got screwed up by the wind such as Viper and Revolution. Both rides went down so much during the day. Superman stayed open, Goliath ran into a problem at around 4 and needed to be evacuated off of lift, Viper stopped at upper lift and the at block brake. I even heard Goldrusher go down a few times. I think the ride that did the best yesterday was actually Riddlers. _six

Six Flags Magic Mountain Advice
Mr.Six replied to californiascreamer1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I think you should be okay on it. Never at one moment on the ride is there ever really a sense of 'spinning' as much as a rotation. Remember that the seats do not spin freely, but are controlled by another set of rails. _six -
Six Flags Magic Mountain Advice
Mr.Six replied to californiascreamer1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok, so I'm kinda weird and I prefer the not so popular rides...but oh well. Best 3 - Batman Viper Colossus Worst- X Revolution Deja My advice would be get to the gate no later than around 9:45 or 10:15, depending on day of visit. Park opens at 10:00 on weekends, and 10:30 on weekdays. Go directly to X. If its not open I'd wait for...20 minutes or so. Give them a chance to finsh up a late block check. In my opinion I wouldn't wait longer than 20 for the 'chance' of it opening....then again I wouldn't ride X at all. Then skip Tatsu , make a back of the park run. Hit Deja, Riddlers, Batman, Colossus, Scream....and then if you want Goliath. But at that time the park has mostly filled up, so there isn't a great advantage here. I personally haven't had a problem with the food at Magic Mountain. Is it theme park food? Sure. But Kattie's Kettle has always been good, Panda Express I've never had a problem with. Never tried Papa John's. And I'd if you choose Mooseburger Lodge, I'd order something off of the menu, rather than the buffet. After lunch, you might want to take it easy. Although SFMM doesn't have a good flat ride selection. Maybe check out and see if Sky Tower is open or not. Then I'd go and buy the flashpasses if its crowded enough. You get 4 ride tickets ( one ticket to be used for one person one time ). And some sort of a game discount ticket. I'd only really suggest using them for Tatsu. If you want to use them on the B&Ms in the back of the park, go for it. They keep changing their prices...but it still should be. $20 on the Weekdays and $25 on the weekends. I think its a bit much, considering that it doesn't get you to the front of the line usually. The attendant will just place you in the back of the station. Which can cut 90 minutes or so off of your wait...which is good. But just don't expect a system that ....will satisfy you. Even on the weekends the lines usually die down a bit during the end of the day, so you can hop on Viper, Superman, Ninja, Revolution, or any other ride you missed or skipped. Most rides are running multiple trains, I was shocked when a guest told me that X was only running one a few days ago...out of all the coasters. Anyway, that should get you started. I know there are a lot of SFMM "Help" threads on TPR, give it a search and you'll probably find more info that will help you. _six -
Six Flags America Accident
Mr.Six replied to piggy4891's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
While although the entire thing doesn't seem like fun. I can't see how the ride itself acted in any sort of an uncommon way. Sure that stop doesn't seem like fun, but being someone who has to safety ride a certain ride daily, I've been stopped from about 20 mph to 0 in about half a second multiple times. Is it fun? No. Is it painful? No. The fluid is the only somewhat interesting part. I know that at rides different fluids spray out all the time, everytime a train stops in station a small bit of fluid will spray out from mutliple locations. I'm no Vekoma expert , so someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I think its very possible that there is always some sort of fluid that sprays out ( in little portions ) whenever that train stops in station. And because the brakes were in an "E-stop" mode the preasure increased along with the amount of the fluid that needs to be expelled. Just my theory, could very well not be right. _six -
Don't confuse walk ons with low popularity. Its going to take X a LOT longer to cycle through 100 guests than it will Viper. Simply due to the ride design, and how much longer it takes to load and unload. Just last night I was subbing at Viper last night, and I was amazed by the amount of people that per hour got pushed through the ride with two trains. Mind you, it was a walk on and I'm not sure if we ever sent a full train. _six

Its real hit or miss with her. Its either gold or crap. Just about whenever its on and I'm flipping channels I'll try it out, but she can be easily replaced with almost anything. _six

TJ is right. ^ For the 8th grade science fair I built a working model of Superman- The Escape. Ran off of two car batterys and a lot of electro-magnets. In the beginning I wanted to animate it out...pointless really as time went on. There are SO many factors that you can't think of until they happen, and the process of trial and error , correctness is best when its applied physically. Trust me, I know its cool to do layouts, blueprints and everything. Although to be quite honest, I'd advice you work backwards in this project. Do some physical testing first, wheel to track comparison, weight, etc. Then go onto the computer if you really want to and animate it out using CAD, No Limits, what have you. I hope you don't think that I'm trying to damper your project, I'm just giving you some advice from someone who's 'been there' before. And after you do everything right, its going to go wrong. My project constantly broke down, and wasn't operational for the science fair...it wasn't until a year or so after that I decided to go back to work on it and finally fixed it to the point of reducing explosions! _six

Six Flags vs. Cedar Fair
Mr.Six replied to RIP Psyclone's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I find it funny that all these arguments are all about Six Flags and Cedar Fair. _six -
Jurassic Park at USH. Trashcans in the queue were beyond overflowing. About a 4 foot area around each trashcan was a wonderful array of trash. I also remember one night walking through Scream at SFMM and it was unexcusably horrible. Don't remember any trashcans overflowing, but you were constantly walking over tons of trash in the queue and up the stairs. Bottom line, crap happens at every park. Even at Disneyland I've seen dirty grounds. Just because I walk through a dirty line at Scream or Jurrasic Park once doesn't really mean I'm going to downrate the ride/park because of it. Now, a constant problem of it of course. _six

Yeah, its sad. But honestly, Knotts lost its charm long ago so really anything now is just like...stabbing something that's already dead. < One way to put it. I'll miss Knotts' Berry Farm, I remember all the friendly older staff, the lasso dude, Soap Box Derby Racers , The Indian Dancer show before it had a B&M support in the middle of the stage. I remember the quality of Knotts Berry Farm being on par with Disneyland. Whenever family would come and visit it was a huge choice cause both were nice family oriented parks. Well, its already been discussed on TPR. The transformation of The Berry Farm to "Knotts : A Cedar Fair Park:" . Trashcans galore can no way make up for what I remember Knotts once being. _six

Kings Dominion PTR
Mr.Six replied to Top Thrill Dragster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very nice TR! But I'm rather confused, "my first impression was that this was a very nice and beautiful park, but that would soon change as my day went on. " Going by your TR and photos it seems as if you really enjoyed the park? _six
