  1. Ah, yes....... however, I was slightly rude for saying that, so I guess I can be placed in the rude category.
  2. I'm sorry, but every time I read this site, it just amazes me how stupid people can be....
  3. ^ Yup. It is a money thing. They can't keep the theming and the names unless they want to pay for them. And it doesn't really matter that much. As long as the quality of the rides won't change.
  4. I can see open admission being okay if the park goers are respectful to the environment around - like at Knobels. But the way Robb describes it, this is probably a good move.
  5. I think you are just being paranoid. Just because it happened to Southport doesn't mean that it will happen to Blackpool. The place needs to make money somehow, and they also need to keep out people that shouldn't be there, which would make it a good experience for everyone. Isn't Blackpool more popular than Southport anyway? Wasn't Southport on the way out anyway?
  6. ^ Exactly. Plus, how much money do they even make off of that? It would amaze me if they made any kind of profit off of that at all. I would assume that parks must since they haven't given up on it.
  7. All in all, if you are complaining about something, ask yourself a few questions.... Is this stand or booth keeping me from getting where I want to go - blocking my intended path? Are the people trying to sell in an annoying manner? Do the stand/booth or advertisements really affect my overall park experience? People are complaining about banners and booths and how they don't fit in to a themed section of a park, but does that really affect your overall park experience? Personally, I feel like people are just complaining about a bunch of nothing. If they are selling something that you don't want, don't go over to them, don't go to the website the ad or booth is promoting, and just move on with your day. Chances are if you don't respond to an ad, there is someone else that will, and that is the reason for the ad/booth/stand placement. Parks and companies do market research, and not everyone is annoyed by that kind of stuff.
  8. ^^ And everyone was complaining when Six Flags parks were totally in the dumps, and they weren't doing anything to try and fix it. Now that they are trying to make some moves, all people do is criticize the moves that the company is making. People just like to hear themselves take and bi*ch.
  9. My opinion is that people are only complaining about this because they have some kind of bias against Six Flags. And, the only reason that any kind of attention has been brought onto this is because there is an article on it. Article = Six Flags gets attention = anything that Six Flags does is bad. Give me a break. There are sponsors all over so many parks. In all aspects of life, we are hit with so many ads that we can't even process them. Websites have pop-up ads coming at you all the time. There are billboards while driving down the highway. Children in schools receive educational information compiled by drug companies, soft drink manufacturers and fast food restaurants. Nobody seems to complain about those things. But as soon as Six Flags does it, it is a problem. Halloweekends Trick or Treat Street at Dorney was always presented by Mike n' Ike. Dollywood's corporate sponsors are Coke and Kodak. Various shows at others parks are sponsored by, or presented by, or brought to you by insert company name here But as soon as Six Flags does it, or there is a news article about how Six Flags is trying to cut costs by put up some televisions, or posting up some flyers, or giving out stickers, or painting logos on walls, all of a sudden they are in the wrong for it. Maybe from now on television stations shouldn't get sponsors for football games, or band concerts shouldn't have sponsors, monster truck rallies shouldn't have sponsors. Pretty soon, people are going to start complaining that Six Flags has Papa John's, or Coke products - "THey should be making their own pizza, and soda, and brewing their own beer, and developing their own mascots instead of just using Warner Bros.!.... etc. etc." The more I look at things, the more I see a total bias against anything that Six Flags does, and it is sad. They are a company trying to make some moves to get out of debt and make a good experience for their guests. Sure, some of the things they are going to do will be wrong, but do people really have to criticize everything that the company does, especially when other companies are doing the same thing?
  10. Hey, I would like to be known as..... The Resident Vegetarian Hippie Thanks!
  11. roller coaster NOUN: A steep, sharply curving elevated railway with small open passenger cars that is operated at high speeds as a ride, especially in an amusement park. SOURCE: http://education.yahoo.com/reference/dictionary/entry/roller%20coaster In essence a specialized railroad system, a roller coaster consists of a track that rises in designed patterns, sometimes with one or more inversions (such as loops) that turn the rider briefly upside down. The track does not necessarily have to be a complete circuit, as shuttle roller coasters exhibit. Most roller coasters have multiple cars in which passengers sit and are restrained into. An entire set of cars hooked together is called a train. 12. Or you can even just put your pics on something like Webshots or SmugMug or something. You don't even really have to have a real website to just display your pics. Then you can share them with people on the boards and have people look at them with ease. And then you can just create a simple blog to post your own trip reports and reviews and stuff like that. If you really do want to set up your own website, there are plenty of places that already have set designs that are easy to develop and use. Or, of course, you could always do what was already mentioned - just submit to this site and still get recognition.
  13. I've decided to kind of whore it up this year whenever I get the chance to hit a park. I have yet to ride Woodstock at Dorney, and I have been to the park about 60 times since it was installed. I will also have to hit up Trailblazer and Wild Mouse at Hersheypark, since I have skipped them every time that I have been to the park. I have also skipped some kidde credits that I could have gotten on like Poison Ivy at SFNE. I have also passed up parks like Bowcraft and Blue Diamond while in town, which I don't think I will pass up again.
  14. ^ Hopefully not.
  15. It is about time they got it going vertical. I was wondering when it was going to happen, though, now that it is started it shouldn't take that much time to get it complete and testing and ready for opening. I'll be there for opening this year. I'm sure I'll be able to get a lot of rides in on this thing by noon.
  16. I'm just very upset that Penn State isn't anywhere near the Top 25. The only good news is that Pryor is waiting to make his decision based on a visit to Penn State.
  17. Um, no dude. It's EASTCOASTER. Awesome report Dainan.
  18. If the Spice Girls reunion is any indicator.....
  19. Hannah Montana = I don't get it
  20. Please. Pretty much every team has easy games throughout the season -unless you are the worst team in the league (Dolphins). I saw the Eli Manning commercial yesterday a couple of times. I thought Disney was doing away with that campaign? I remember a press release a couple of years ago. Did I miss something along the way? I figured they would still have the MVP visit Disney, but I just didn't think that they were going to run the commercials anymore.
  21. I'm sure Eli will make it to Disney at some point.... Regarding the Patriots easy schedule, I wouldn't go that far to say that it was that easy. During the regular season they had to beat - AFC #2,3,4 seeds (Colts, Chargers, Steelers) and the NFC #1,5,6 seeds (Cowboys, Giants, Redskins). They had 6 playoff teams on their schedule this year and beat all of them. Now I know they play in the easiest division in football, but they still had to beat some really tough teams this year. * I am in no way a Patriots fan, or like them in any way.
  22. 8/10..... I would also like to protest that one.
  23. Hey guys. Right now I am trying to cram in a 25 page financial statement analysis for my BA380 Principles of Finance class that is due on Thursday - something that I have been supposed to be working on for a majority of the semester. Right now I am working on a ratio called price/cash flow ratio. Basically it consists of taking the price per share of stock and dividing it by cash flow per share. I am having a problem finding or calculating the cash flow per share of Cedar Fair. It is calculated by taking operating cash flow, subtracting that by preferred dividends, and then dividing that answer by common shares outstanding. I am having some trouble finding preferred dividends for the company. Basically, I am looking for a little help. Are there any savvy investors out there, or anyone that has Cedar Fair stock that could tell me how much the received per share either at any point last year or even last quarter? Or, could someone just tell me if they know of a way to find the cash flow per share? I've been searching the Cedar Fair site, Yahoo Finance, Wikipedia and the Edgar files on sec.gov, but I have come up empty handed on both the dividends and the cash flow per share. If someone could help me out, it would be greatly appreciated. In return I will be posting my complete, "Cliff Notes" version of my Cedar Fair financial statement analysis for your viewing and reading pleasure. Thanks a lot in advance!
  24. The queue and station actually used to have some sound effects, fog and strobe lights when it first opened too.
  25. ^^ I have. It is run by a couple of kids from dorneyonline.com. But yes, it pretty much means nothing.
