TPR Mini Trips - 2008
Hercules replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just a little note to the youngsters on here.... Don't get upset that you aren't able to go on trips yet either due to TPR rules, or your parents rules. Believe me, you have plenty of time to ride coasters through out your life. Just be patient. Life is long. I know that it is frustrating to see long park lists like the one that Big Mike posted, or the Photo TR's that the Midwest participants have posting and have posted. Believe me, I know how you feel. But just wait until you have a little bit of independence in a few years, have your own money to spend on whatever you like, and all of that good stuff. You will really appreciate things a lot once you are able to do more of what you want to do. Just respect Robb and Elissa covering their butt, and also respect your parents for trying to protect you. Like I said, just be patient. And, this isn't directed to anyone in particular, just don't whine about it or post multiple times about how you really want to go but can't, but you REALL REALLY WANT TO GO BUT I'M ONLY 13!!!! MY PARENTS ARE SO DUMB!!!!! WHY CAN'T MY FATHER DISH OUT THE EXTRA $1,000 AND GO WITH ME!!!!! HE IS SO SELFISH!!!!! It really gets annoying after a while. Just cool it. Money doesn't grow on trees, and it is annoying. *** I'm just going off of what I have observed in other trip threads like this one. This one hasn't been as bad as most. I just wanted to say my piece. ***DISCLAIMER - All of the views expressed in this post are pending based on the possibility of the world ending in 2012. -
Oh ok. Good thing I don't believe in God!

Knoebels Discussion Thread

Not to mention.... what about a wristband? -
I listened to the interview about 5 minutes after Robb posted it the other night, but I just kind of wanted to see how the thread went before I posted something. First I want to say, very nice job Robb. I appreciate the effort just as much as everyone else. Next, it is very refreshing to hear a high ranking businessman not give cliche, generic answers in an attempt to dodge questions. Not only was Mr. Shapiro on point and informative, but he was extremely passionate. I really liked how passionate he was, it made me really respect the guy, and made me feel like the company is in good hands. Though I don't like the moves that Snyder is making with the Redskins, it seems he made a very good decision here. I am not going to say Shapiro is the ultimate saving grace of the organization as I still believe there is a lot more to fix not only on a park, but also an organizational level, but I have a lot of confidence after this short 10 minute audio clip. Also, it takes time people! Things can't just be changed overnight. I am actually very impressed that Mr. Shapiro came in and made am impact this quickly. And notice his talk about 5 year plans. That is how a real business is run. Even though El Toro was kind of thrown together and planned kind of at the last minute by the old management, it actually turned out to be one of their better moves, though it is kind of lucky that it turned out that way. There won't be any of that last minute kind of nature with Mark Shapiro at the helm. I would really like to know what will be done to really improve guest relations, and security. I did not go to a Six Flags park last year, but after a few of the things that I saw the year before, and the incidents that I was in at Great Adventure, I would really like to see a major improvement in terms of how guests are treated, and the safety of guests.

Honestly, I can't believe that people are doubting Knoebels at this point. I know that I said that I don't really like the way the plans for the construction are laid out, but it is Knoebels here. Just think of how many good moves they have made... how many good rides they have... and just the overall quality of everything there. -
Not that you were asking me or anything, but, I still use tape as well pretty much for the same reasons as Elissa pointed out.

Wait. I'm going to get hit by a bus when I walk out the door?

9 New Johnny Rockets!!

I love me some Johnny Rockets veggie burgers. Do the Six Flags parks have a decent, regular Johnny Rockets menu or is it a limited menu? -

I don't really mind the delay, however, I do kind of have a problem with how this ride is being done. I just wish that the trains were being done by someone that was closer to the situation, both location and knowledge wise. I see it kind of like this: building a house. Someone else lays the foundation, then another separate group comes in to do the structure, then someone else comes in to do the electrical work.... somewhere there is bound to be a glitch. -
Help me, help you!

How many hours of sleep did you get last night?

Sleep? -
When the world ends, I'm pretty sure I don't need to be "ready". Once I'm dead, I'm dead.

The Arcadia University Knights. That's about it. -
It's 2008! Where are you headed this year?

^ Lying sack of crap. -
Why waste money on a new station when the old one still works? Goliath at SFFT appears to be using the same station from SFNO Zoomerang at Alabama Adventure uses the station it had at Wonderland Sydney, so it's not just Cedar Fair. To have themeing. --Jay Dorney is not a theme park, it is an amusement park. If a ride had some sort of theming other than a decorative sign at the entrance, it would not really fit in with the style of the park. Some find it bland and boring, but that is just how the park is set up, and how Cedar Fair pretty much operates their parks. If you want theming, go to a Busch park, a Disney park, or even a Six Flags park. A cool sign or logo is all of the theming that you are going to get from Dorney.

Or wouldn't a family of four that goes to a park once a week buy season passes, thus saving them money in the long run? And, enabling them to go at their leisure, and at times they know crowds will be light? Plus, if a person goes that often, they tend to know the park, where to go when, how to hit what etc.... I'm not so sure they would really be all that obsessed with getting an insane amount of multiple rides per visit like an enthusiast in their first visit to a park.

I think it is that people think they are getting less out of a Six Flags park. When people hear the phrase Six Flags, they just think "sucks". You can't even use Six Flags and Disney or Universal in the same sentence with some people. Now, I can see some of their points, but they just beat it to death. The parks are just different experiences from each other. If they don't like Six Flags parks, then don't go. Just like they don't have to buy from the vendor in line, they don't have to go to the parks.
-
It's not so much that people who are rich are the one's that are reaping the benefits. Do you think the 15 year old kid that has a part time minimum wage job really has the money to go spending it on a Q-Bot a Six Flags? No, he just blew his whole pay check on that thing, but he doesn't care. He wanted to buy it. Not everyone that gets the skipping line stuff really have the means to do it. They just do.
-
And the vendors aren't placed to annoy you. They wouldn't be putting the vendors into the line if they weren't going to make money off of it. They do things like stragetic planning. If a park knows that a vendor going through a line is going to come back with zero of the 36 Icee's that he just went out with 30 minutes ago, of course they are going to send him back through that line again and again until nobody wants to buy anything anymore. Why mock people if they want to spend money? If you don't want to buy the stuff, then don't. I'm sure they aren't hassling you with some big sales pitch to get you to buy a candy bar. How is it an annoyance?
-
I guess I'm what you might call a traditionalist. I think part of the experience of the park is standing in line with the hot sun beating down on you, trying to make meaningless conversation with the people in front of you, getting fed up with people trying to cut you, and steping in sticky lemonade and cotton candy messes. Of course, it does get a little old after a while, but for me, the entire experience of the park is how the line moves, how people treat each other in the line, and see how well the park keeps the queue healthy looking. However, if I had a chance to get something at Disney, Universal, or another park that I don't really see myself getting to a lot in my life, then I would jump at the chance at it. I just don't see myself paying $60 extra at a Six Flags park. I'll hang out with the punks in line all day before I even think about doing that. If you are someone that gets the boosts up the line, good for you. I'm certainly not one of the people the heckle and snear. Though, it is pretty funny to watch people heckle and snear.
