  1. John Travolta? Darren Dalton?
  2. ^ Well that is very respectable. I would not call you a fanboy at all. You at least give a reason as to why you like the ride. Most of the actually fanboys that I come across just give a stupid response.
  3. So I guess going to a park can no longer be a fun family experience?
  4. I don't. I never buy drinks, so there is no point for me having to pay for everyone else's soda addiction. Exactly. The price of "free" soda is already put into the admission prices at those parks. So, instead of "free" soda at a Six Flags park, you would just be tacking on an extra $10 to your admission price. It's called ingerious consumption.
  5. But the point is that it is not a Six Flags contractor. The person was not directly employeed by Six Flags. He was a part of a third party that was hired to do the job. He was employeed by the third party contractor. That reads a lot differently than saying the person was a Six Flags employee/worker/contractor.
  6. I, too, don't use the cups. However, I totally have to agree with the principle behind it.
  7. What the heck. I registered as Hercules.
  8. Of course I agree with this! It is a new year. What are you going to do, pull a 2003 cup out of your butt and expect to get a cheap refill out of it? You are lucky to get a refill at that price just for one trip to the park, let alone a full season. I don't go into a restaurant with an old cup and expect to get free refills out of it, why should you be able to do it at a park?
  9. No big deal. It was just a prototype that, after a few years, nobody has jumped on board with or the manufacturer is trying to sell as we speak. I don't really see there being an article out there about it. * EDIT - I'm throwing around the word prototype like it means something. It is merely a concept that is trying to be sold, and there is no working prototype. The thing probably isn't really going too far and is probably just an idea.
  10. Considering there is not one in operation and this was just made to show off a prototype, I don't believe that rcdb would have it up.
  11. ^^ Unfortunately Jahan, I do believe that a Cedar Point and Magic Mountain comparison is totally valid considering they are in the same industry. True, one is a "theme" park that is run in a certain way, and one is an "amusement" park that is run in a different way, but I see it as the same thing as comparing WalMart and Macy's - one is cheap with debatable quality and one is more expensive with debatable quality (not saying Cedar Point or Magic Mountain are different in terms of pricing or anything like that, just using a comparison - both WalMart and Macy's are department stores and a comparison is valid no matter how totally different they are from each other). Cedar Point and Magic Mountain are pretty much the same in terms of what people go for - entertainment and fun, riding rides, seeing shows etc. I know that they are two very differently run places, but that is what this whole debate is about - the best way to essentially run a park in terms of loose articles. My biggest problem is just the way that NYTrojan is arguing his case. To me NYTrojan is trying to argue the case that some things aren't worth being put into a locker, which is a valid point. My point is that if they aren't worth paying a dollar for to save, then don't complain about it. But, at the same time, NYTrojan is basically saying that their camcorder is not worth $1 too. It doesn't make much sense to me. I get that there are other parks out there that you don't have to pay for a locker, like Cedar Fair parks, but if you go into a Six Flags park knowing that the rule is in place, then don't complain. If your precious camera means something to you, then it is worth a $1 here and there to protect it.
  12. As Jahan said, it is not in place on every ride, just the major rides where this kind of thing is a problem. So, right there, your 12-15 dollars is reduced to 4 or 5. And it will reduce dispatch time if a stricter rule is enforced - nobody is allowed in line unless what they have can be secured on their body.
  13. These days, I highly doubt that you would be able to sell off a ride in which there was an accident that wasn't at least partically the rider's fault.
  14. But if it is not worth that much to you, then why are you worried about it?
  15. I say don't knock it until you try it. In my opinion, all rides are technically hit or miss - either you will like it or you won't - 50-50.
  16. Because sometimes those items aren't worth the $1 you spend in securing them. If you want to charge for lockers, ok... but don't require them. Let me choose. If I'm willing to risk my little plastic sports cup, or that basketball I just won at the midway game, what's the harm? Then go ahead and risk it then. Leave it out somewhere - just don't bring it in line. If the things aren't worth the dollar to protect them, then you won't mind losing them - why complain then?
  17. It is very good advice. Personally, I have never gone to a park with anything that can't fit in my cargo shorts. My camera bag fits in there perfectly along with my camera, keys, cash, ID etc. I just don't see a point in walking into a park with something more than that. And, since these locket policies are becoming pretty much the norm, I don't really see why people can't plan accordingly. You know that the rule is in effect, why fight it and complain about it? Just don't go in with a huge bag. Don't go into the line for Goliath with a refill cup. Don't play the $5 game so you can try to win the stuffed animal that is three times the size of you. These are all pretty simple concepts.
  18. Different people like different things. I personally love it when a park shows off its history. I like how they embrace it and don't just push it under the rug. I get a little bit of a high out of it. It's kind of nerdy, but I really like to look back at the way the park has played out over the years. That is just me, and I'm sure there are many other people that feel the same way. Everyone is different. Maybe I'm like this because I have a homepark that is rich in history, but it is owned by a company that doesn't want anything to do with it.
  19. ^ Making no wooden coaster for BGE almost a checkmate.
  20. Oh come on Larry, you can do a lot with 1.5 acres. You can build a station, a queue and a lifthill....... the entire coaster will debut in 2015, assuming the world doesn't end in 2012.
  21. Boulder Dash wood stain = Babe Ruth Wes = the man Jay "Still looking for a piece of Hercules wood" Willis
  22. What!?!? Who knew!?!1!!?? Jay "Sarcasm" Willis Is Estonia in the competition? If they are, they are going to whoop up.
  23. Yeah, I have no clue what the hell this is. However, I will go with....... Dubai! Dubai is a country in Europe, right?
  24. It could be a media day thing. They could have the media day portion in the morning and then open up the ride in the afternoon. I would have to assume that they would have a thing for first riders as a promotional thing that will be followed by the media.
