Larry, That was a looooong a$$ day. Woke up at 4am in New Jersey, flew into Atlanta, drove 4 hours to Dollywood, had 3 side trips to do, and a 4 hour drive back to Atlanta. We wanted to make sure we did the whole park first and when we made a complete curcuit of the park, Thunderhead is on the total opposite side. I agree we failed, but there were reasons for it. I have a condo or two right in that area, and with all the stuff there to do and a few bigger parks within driving distance, I will be back again. Maybe you can come too. Peace, Big Mike Excuses excuses. Forget the name Big Mike, how about Big Wuss!

It was designed by Curtis Summers. That is all you need to know. -

That is the usual price at Great Adventure and it has been since I was in the game. It just says on the website that you get an automatic upgrade to a premium pass, so maybe the premium passes will start to be sold once the season starts or something. Though, I don't think that helps in terms of Rich's question.

Holy crap. That is disgusting. Japan is getting more and more Westernized by the minute.
-
I'm not sure if it has been completely implimented or not. The site is advertising a free upgrade to premium, so maybe everyone's passes will be premium this year and then they will advertise the premium mark-up next season or something. I don't know. That is what I'm thinking. Either call the park or maybe someone else can help you out.

I'm not totally sure myself. I believe there are two options for season passes this year - regular and premium. I believe you have to buy the premium in order to go to the rest of the parks in the chain. I'm not sure though because I'm not getting a pass this year. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I think that other park passes were accepted in the past. I would call the park to find out.

^ Move to Philly. Plenty of good vegan options here.

For those who are interested, Coasters after Dark (seasonpass holder only event) will be held on May 2 from 5-10. I have been to 5 of these events and they have been very good. The last one I went to was in September of '06. It had the most people than any other that I had been to. However, a ride on El Toro only cost about 25 minutes, and rerides on Nitro were aplenty (I believe 7 in a row before a line formed).

One last ride for Doppel Looping.

I think VooDoo will make the line for Laser longer and I hope Dorney accounts for that. The seatbelts added last year hurt the capacity especially since most of the time it was 1 attendant checking the whole train. Even a 3 train wait turned into 15 minutes easily. I also hope you are right about it staying, especially since CF is now advertising Dorney has 10 coasters and you would think they'd want to keep advertising double digit coasters. Who knows. Maybe, maybe not. I feel so old. I still remember going to the park and there only being the "Big 3". Then again, 3 of those "10" coasters consist of Little Laser, Dragon Coaster and Woodstock, so it is kind of debatable. -
Has a waterslide ever scared you?

I was reading through, and I would like to say, that I remember the looping slide at Action Park. I am not sure if it actually opened or not, however, I do remember being on a slide at the former Action Park and flipping, banging my head, and then tumbling out into a muck of water. I don't remember if that was the looping slide, or if it was another slide (as there were a lot of attractions at that place where that kind of thing could have happened.) There was someone on another site that said that it actually opened for a brief period (maybe a month or so) but there are others that profoundly argue that it never did open. I can't say for sure as I have some odd childhood memories. Action Park was seriously a death trap. I can't recall how many people died or were seriously injured at that place. For those of you who didn't see the picture that Wes put up in link form back on page two of this thread, here it is. -

As for the Laser rumors.... It seems like every year since I became an "enthusiast" I have heard people say that this is going to be the last year for the ride. I have heard tons and tons of rumors from those "in the know" and other people that are crazy about Dorney. I have heard things about the ride leaving and changing the entrance for a new wooden coaster - expanding the kid's section - I have even heard from a ride attendent that they are going to move the location of the coaster to the main midway of the park. All I can say is, I won't believe that the coaster is leaving until I see it get loaded up on a truck. The ride is in the process of being repainted (or has been repainted? ) Who knows what that is for. Maybe that is because there is a new ride opening up back there and they want it to look pretty, or they are trying to increase its sale value. All I know is that lines have been dismal for years now, and hopefully VooDoo will bring some life to the Laser queue this year because it is a very good ride. I will bet my left arm that the ride will stay another year, and a year after that. -

I was going to say "What are you kidding me? A waterslide has never scared big Jay Willis!" Then, I had a flashback to a time when American Idol was not the most annoying thing on TV, Madonna wasn't over the hill, 6 packs of frozen Super Pretzels still had decent sized pretzels, and I was trembling and ready to pee my pants at the top of the speed slides at Wildwater Kingdom. -
Or maybe a Sticky topic needs to be started for members under 12 years old now.

Well, I'm officially eliminated. Think I can still come in second though.

OH THANK GOD!!!!! I at least watch the Simpsons. I'm so utterly glad that I'm not on your crap list for that too. I will actually be able to go to sleep tonight without worrying.

And that has been one of my biggest knocks on Great Adventure over the past couple of years - they NEED higher capacity rides. Some days during the summer just get unbarable with the crowds (very very obnoxious crowds that is). They really need big, high capacity rides, not to mention some thrilling flats. I know they are supposed to be going family friendly, but their only real thrills right now are with the coasters. They have plenty of kiddie areas now, and plenty of coasters, now they need to work on the medium size to larger flats for everyone in between in the families that visit the park. Great Adventure has so much potential, and I really hope that potential is met within a few years.

It would be dumb not to have it open for Memorial Day weekend. The 24th sounds about right.
