  1. ^ I don't think they could do a van trip from Ohio to England.
  2. I will apologize for coming off way too harshly in my posts, but I will be honest, a lot of things that you say really make me angery. With that said, however, I should have had a cooler head.
  3. Here are a few places that you could consider. Some aren't necessarily the best places, but they have some fun rides and some coasters that you can hit up. Since I don't know where your school is located, I'll do my best to give you idea of where the parks are in relation to surrounding areas. If you go to Lake Compounce, you could hit up Quassy which is about 10 miles from Bristol. They have a couple of Herschell coasters there: a mad mouse and a kiddie coaster. I believe you have to have a riding partner on the mad mouse coaster, as they don't allow single riders in a car. You might also want to check out the New Hampshire parks like Canobie Lake. There are also some other New Hampshire parks like Story Land and Santa's Village that might be interesting to you. And I'm not sure if you would want to head this far out, but if you drive out to Albany there is a place called Hoffman's Playland. They only have a kiddie coaster, but they have some of the best Lusse autoskooters that you will ever be on. You could even hit up Great Escape in the same day if you want. It might be a bit of a hike for you though. Since you are going to be camping in Saco, be sure to do Funtown Splashtown USA which is in Saco. I have heard a lot of good things about the place. Also, a couple miles down the road is Palace Playland. There is also York's Wild Kingdom in York Beach. Hope that kind of gives you an idea of what is up there.
  4. ^ So I'm a troll? And yes, it was a blatant attack, that is obvious. Anyway, you weren't giving your opinion of a movie, you were saying some kind of stupid crap about how someone who won an Oscar is too good for TPR now, which is a load of garbage and you should know that. Anyway, I haven't seen Juno yet. I am planning on renting it at a RedBox near me though.
  5. And you've been making moronic posts for a long time.
  6. Actually, I think I will put those quotes in my new thread "Most BRILLIANT things said on TPR"
  7. ^ Nah. There are some of us with more of a life than just roller coasters
  8. I agree with what people have said so far. When my girlfriend was living down in the Newport News area, we found plenty to do on weekends that I visited aside from our nightly visits to Busch Gardens. Like mentioned, Virginia Beach is worth the 45 minute - hour drive, and there are a lot of interesting historical factors that makes Colonial Williamsburg very interesting. Are you into golf? Because there is plenty of that around also. There are a few really nice hiking trails in the Newport News area that we really enjoyed taking our dog on too.
  9. Larry should have been charged with line rage a couple of years ago at Great Adventure. But, I think he got put in his place, so charges weren't necessary.
  10. ^ Eh, not anymore. You could probably hang with me (or me hang with you). I haven't played since last Father's Day, and my conference championship finish last year was none to be desired. Back in high school and early into college I was a 1 handicap from the blues, but I would be lucky to do that these days. You are right, not sure about his skill level, so a good mix of course offerings would be good. I haven't played there, but Falcon's Fire does look pretty sweet. Can you believe that I have played courses in Florida, and have not been to the parks down there? I was a deprived kid!
  11. Compared to my first visit to the park back in 2002, this place looks like Disney now.
  12. I am completely and utterly shocked by the creepiness of this thread.
  13. In April? Surely you can get both parks in and have a nice, enjoyable, and productive day at each. I don't see a problem at all getting in everything at Busch Gardens in within a day - you will definitely get multiple re-ride opportunities also. I would expect the longest waits to be for Griffon and Apollo's Chariot. I don't think those waits would be more than a half hour at the peak of the day. I say, BGE on Friday (even though the closing time is 8, you will have a great day if you get there some time before noon) and King's Dominion on Saturday for a really good couple days of riding and enjoying life.
  14. ^ You guys are going to open fire on the tourists?!
  15. Or anything said by goleafsgo in the Animal Rights and Fur thread. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26419 Jay "I'm so happy that I started this thread it is sick..... thanks Wes" Willis
  16. They probably aren't willing to run one intense enough to make it good. The top spin at Dorney I went on a few years ago was tame as can be. A top spin run in tame mode is about as lame as can be. And when they are run intense they practically tear themselves apart. I guess that is true, but they pretty much dumb every ride down at least a little bit. I would just think that they would do it has a capacity eater at the least. The ride at Dorney really has fallen from grace within the past few years.
  17. ^ Not really a big fan of the layout at Celebration. It is a very nice course and a very nice experience, however, I think the layout is kind of elementary, and didn't really find the course overly challenging to be honest. As long as you place the ball in the right spots and strike the ball with accuracy, it's a relatively easy course. There is a lot of trouble out in the fairways though if you aren't careful. As I have not been to Disney to play the courses there, I can also suggest something away from the resort, but near the park. I would suggest Stoneybrook It is a bit of a challenge even though it is a relatively short course. It has a bit of a quirky layout, and you kind of have to be careful off of the tees. The price is just right too.
  18. CycloneMan - You give some of the absolute best trip reports on this entire board. Keep it up! I really enjoyed your pictures. I would love to go to one of these events some day.
  19. ^ Unless your somehow have the chance to visit Disney and Universal.
  20. I'm sure it will draw people in and make money, but I'm just saying that this particular attraction by itself is going to boost attendance to the falls. I'm sure it will be very popular for the people that go there, but there isn't going to be a jump in tourism due to this.
  21. I'm sorry, but I just don't see a bright future in this at all. It is nice that there is an attempt being made, but, geeze.
  22. Forget about the perceived stupid things that the general public say at amusement parks (come on they don't know everything...... roller coaster nerds just know more and there is no need to pick on others for that). So, why not pick on each other - very harshly? I figured, there are some really stupid things said on this site - enough to devote a whole thread to it. And, instead of doing it in the threads in which the stupid things are said, in an attempt to keep those threads clean and going strong, why not just put the bashing into one thread in the random section. So if you have a beef with something that you consider to be a highly ludicrous statement, put it here. I will start. "Brett Farve"
  23. I'm not really a fan of the Storm Runner argument. The only resemblance I see is that there is red track, and it is Intamin. Should I list the differences? Plus, I don't really think anyone outside of our nerdy community is going to care, let alone know, that they are both Intamin rides. A good marketing strategy and all people know is that there is a new and exciting ride at the park - and then they will come - and then hopefully ride it and be merry.
  24. ^ Um, no. I'm pretty sure he was just making a funny about how the tournament has gone so far.
