Welcome to THEMEPARKREVIEW! Although you are into coasters, there are a lot of us on here that enjoy a full park experience - I being one of them. My favorite rides are coasters, but I enjoy a lot of flats and a nice day at a park. Though I'm not knocking you. Whatever you like you like, just don't assume what everyone else likes. However, I have to agree with the poster a few posts up. I think that in a few years everything will settle, we will see exactly what they have planned out of the next 4 or 5 years, and the park will be a much better place without those crappy flats. This year and next year might be a little lacking in the capacity department, but it will just take a little time.

Shockwave update (SFOT)

Do you have any pictures of it? Just because it was testing doesn't necessarily mean that it will be open this weekend. But I don't really know. -
So you have something against people who don't watch Familiy Guy then?
-
What, do you have something against gay people or something?

I see. That is what I get for scanning the article and not completely reading it. Thanks. That makes a lot more sense. -

Alright, that is what I thought you were getting at, but then you said something about a soft opening being possible. A little confusing there. I don't see a soft opening. I just see if opening up in May. I don't see a point in a soft opening and I don't think the park will either. -

Wait, what? A soft opening for Saturday? They have to do a pull through, and test it, and finish up the eye candy...... don't get your hopes up. This thing isn't going to open until normal operation starts in May. -

This looks like a pretty intense little ride. I'm just not sold on someone investing in it. I mean, they came right out and said that it is becoming too much of a financial burden. Maybe that is because maintenance on traveling rides is greater than if it were a permanent structure, I don't know. But, why would a park invest in something that is a potential, well, loss? -

^ What the heck does that matter?

That is true. The error shirt should run about $500 dollars. It is like the equivalent of a Billy Ripken. -

Thanks! But I've jumped onto the Big Mike bandwagon baby!

I only put in a request for the shirts so that I could burn them. -
I'm pretty sure that there questions can be answered just by reading the forums.

And I thought Big Mike was kidding about getting the shirts made up. I will never underestimate him again. I think those need to be put into the TPR store!

Even though there is a glitch in the economy, people's lifestyles aren't really being affected right now. People are just going further into debt. I read an article a couple weeks ago, but I won't guess on figures as I don't recall the exact quotes from the text. However, I can say that within the past five or so years, people are still living the same quality of life, especially with entertainment and other things that are considered to be bought with disposable income, and they are just going thousands of dollars more into debt. Sure, it will catch up with them, and it will also eventually catch up with businesses within the entertainment industry if this economic trend continues - however, I don't believe there is any real short term concern for amusement parks. The only parks that I see having a problem are the smaller parks around the country like the ones in Western Pennsylvania for example. Parks that don't appeal to the masses and don't have a high advertising budget could be crushed. DCody - I don't think that Knoebels itself will be devastated by this as I think the community around the park is a staple in their success. People in and around Elysburg are very devoted and loyal to the park and I don't think there would be a major drop in attendance or profit margins. However, I do see where you are coming from in you thought as many small parks will have a hard time.

^ That is true. But I think the real questions here is.... Where's Dubai?

And, with PETA in Norfolk, there is plenty of vegan and vegetarian cuisine to choose from (if you are into that kind of thing).
