So wait. It took you an hour just to get to the rest area on 476? -
It is incredible how creepy posts get on this site whenever Megan Fox, or any girl that is relatively good looking, is mentioned....

Ah historical center city Philadelphia - surrounded by drugs, murder, more drugs, more violence, poverty, dog fighting, more poverty, and people urinating in the streets. Nice report.

"Lazer" becomes the first IKEA coaster

It looks beautiful. I just shed a tear. -
It looks odd but makes total sense. The main attraction during the day is the beach. After the beach, people need something to do, so there will be a higher demand for other forms of entertainment later in the day, thus, being able to charge more. Also, charging less thus the day may help detract people from the beach and make a park trip last the whole day. Though, I'm not sure if there is enough in the park to warrent an entire day - as previously discussed many times, that is something that needs to be addressed.

I don't really think they could survive at $40 a person, with nobody coming into the park. If they get 4 times the amount of people into the park with this promotion, that makes up the $40 regular pricing. With 4 times as many people in the park, that means they can make much more on concessions, thus making the park more profitable.

That is kind of funny - I was at that Petco yesterday doing a dog adoption. I have some old aerial photos of what once was Willow Grove Park. I also know someone that says one of the coasters was about the equivalent of Phoenix. -

Are you sure? I just got off of the phone with the king of King's Dominion, and he confirmed exactly what I said. Ok Wes, that is enough joking around. This is a very serious matter and should not be taken lightly. -

To me, in my opinion, that looks like track for a coaster that will be exactly 218 feet tall, with 12 airtime hills, 1 helix, 1 hammerhead, 1 splashdown, 4 left turns, 3 right turns, and is 5,123 feet long. -

^ "Ok..... I'm 1,200 feet in the air. Is this cable going to hold up?! Is this harness going to stay in place?! Is this clip going to be secure?!" Sure it is "controlled" but I'm pretty sure it would be scary as all hell. -
You go to the park and purchase the tickets for the next day, and then you are allowed to go into the park for a few hours for the preview. You do not have to get the tickets before going to the park. Just go the night you want to preview and get the tickets. July crowds can be bad to horrendous. I wish you luck. You should be able to get everything that you want to get done though. It is just hell to walk through some of the narrow parts of the park in the summer.

Awesome trip report! You guys made Philadelphia seem a whole hell of a lot better than what it actually is! Jay "Philly sucks" Willis -
I'll be in Pittsburgh on business all of next week. I just got tickets for Wednesday's Pirates game against the Indians. Mark DeRosa is on my fantasy team - I was kicking myself early on in the season for drafting him, but he is on fire lately. Aside from that, I look forward to seeing the Pirates up close as I really do think they are going in the right direction now with all of their youth.

Matt - congratulations on the new job! Just note - now that you are an employee, watch out with what you say in regard to rumors and the like about that park. I wouldn't want you to get into any trouble. -
Possibly buying a home, what are the hidden costs?
Hercules replied to spaceace12's topic in Random, Random, Random
I was just exaggerating in regard to the "mansion" comment, but I think you get the drift. Sure, houses usually sell about 10% below the asking price. However, within 2 months, the price was dropped from $255,000 to $246,000, and then down to $237,000. The house was on the market a pretty long time for around here - 6 months - and the owners at the time needed to get to their new home, as the husband was transferred to a new location for work. So we took advantage a little bit, brought down the price to where we could afford it, and moved in. Just remember, the Philadelphia area and outer suburbs is still one of the best housing markets in the country. Prices are barely budged, and still have a short shelf life on the market. I went up to see my family in the Poconos last weekend, and saw a few things - a brand new 4 bed 2 1/2 bath on 1/2 an acre for $169,000, a 3 bedroom 2 bath lakeside single for $60,000, and a 2,300 square foot riverfront townhome for $189,000. What did our $218,000 get us? (that could have been $20,000 to $30,000 more in this market if we didn't get lucky). A quad-townhome on a slab, 3 bed/ 2 1/2 bath, 1,890 square feet, with no land. I am certainly not complaining as it is perfect for us, and definitely a great deal in this market. I'm just pointing out the difference. -
I haven't really been keeping up with this thread so I don't really know if this has been brought up, but: Does anyone find it interesting that with the NBA's age requirement that, in the past 2 seasons, the headliners of the finals came into the league straight out of high school?
