  1. SIKE!!! Dorney will be getting a new ride next year, not Cedar Point!
  2. ^ I was just going off of posts that were made prior to the announcement. People were speculating and worried that there would be OSTR's on the coaster just because the Intamin up north had them. It just didn't make any sense to me.
  3. Serious..... why would people be freaking out about a B&M hyper possibly having OSTR's in the first place?
  4. I don't think it's just a European thing. Aren't there more in Asia than Europe. I think 1 in Europe to 2 in Asia. I've ridden 2 and can vouch for how good they are. Definately looking forward to riding Intimidator on my US tour next year. The sweeping first drop looks fantastic. Other than the over head thing I prefer the look of the layout compared to Kings Dominion one. I'm not a fan of those rapid direction changes that Intamin have been using. They remind me of those awful trick track elements found on wooden coasters. That is a good point. I would like my comment to be changed to "an overseas thing."
  5. Isn't this the parody thread to that one? Were you being sarcastic, or am I just not understanding what you are saying?
  6. Robb - I think this needs to be explained a little bit further so our poster understands. Photo is short for "photograph". Thus, when adding the word photo before TR (which is short for trip report), it is expected to have pictures to give a visual representation of your trip to the park (in this case Great Adventure) Hope that helps!!!!!!!!
  7. I'm pretty sure when management is looking to put in a new coaster they aren't thinking "Well, we are pretty middle tier. Let's build a ride that will keep us status quo!" I'm positive they are looking to put in the best ride they can get for their money. I'm sure they looked at a lot of different options, and this is the one they came up with and decided on.
  8. Matt: Nice report so far. Those "disk" shaped bumper cars are similar to the ones that are at Dorney.
  9. Well the research proves correct, the McDonald's color scheme will at least make people horny.
  10. ^ I have to agree in regard to the MegaLite comment. I just see that as being a European thing. There are rides that you see over in Europe that you just know won't ever be in the US, and that kind of design is just one of them.
  11. Leave it to the writer to win the thread. Definitely for the win....
  12. Good job making an analogy no one on this forum will be able to properly comprehend. Hmmmmm..... that is true. Alright, it is like being alone on a Saturday night "having some fun" with your Darth Vader action figure.......
  13. Let's put it this way: B&M hypers are like having sex with really hot blondes (or, for the women and some men out there, brown hair blue eyed male models). You have sex with one, and it is amazing. So you go to the next one, and it feels the same, but it still really freakin' good. The next one is very similar, but is awesome...... you get the idea.
  14. Twizzlers and Mike & Ike come off of a shelf and those are pretty freakin' good.
  15. Wow, Looks like all the old Paramount Parks are switching to Snoopy. I think KI will be next to announce it's snoopy, but I don't think CGA will get snoopy. The contract with Nickelodeon was not renewed for any of their parks. That is why they are interested in the New Orleans park. I think this is a BAD move on their part. Kids these days relate to the nick characters not the peanuts ones. Yeah, but all the Nick characters currently in the Paramount parks are all old, and ones kids don't know. Wild Thornberrys? Rugrats? Hey Arnold? They probably know who they are, but can't relate to them like people my age used to. Whereas, EVERYONE (exaggeration, of course) knows who Snoopy and Charlie Brown are. Plus you have to take into account licensing agreements and the like. It doesn't have to do with who the kids know as much as money and legality. As for the ride, it is certainly more appealing to me than the King's Dominion version. Considering the two B&M hypers I have ridden are on the top of my steel list, that really isn't a shock. Great addition to the park. I think they got it right for sure.
  16. ^ Yeah, I don't understand why expectations just go through the roof. To each their own, but, I have a 230 foot B&M 40 minutes from me, and I'm extremely happy to ride it over and over again.
  17. ^ I know! I shouldn't speak so soon! However, in all seriousness, I just see a lot of knocking on the "same" B&M elements and boring layout. And then also more knocking on the marketing of the ride. ^^ I have to say I would pretty much agree with something close to that. I can see something 230 feet, but around 80mph or so.
  18. Will these restraints survive the end of the world in 2012?
  19. ^ If it in any way mirrors the Hercules removal and planning/construction of Hydra, I think you might be looking at 2012 at the earliest.
  20. It is kind of hard to build rollercoasters when your company has been bankrupt for years.....
