Going To SFDK On Saturday
Hercules replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would suggest checking out the West Coast Trip thread: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=52245 Or you can call the park to see which rides are in operation: http://www.sixflags.com/discoveryKingdom/footerNav/contact.aspx -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
Hercules replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually agree with this. I'm not a big water rides fan as it is, but there's absolutely nothing about this modern day nod to the classic that interests me. I mean, as I see it (of course this is just going off the press release images), a huge percentage of the ride is just slowly navigating a ground level trough. I could take a small dingy down a backyard canal and get the same feeling. I think the reason I loved the old school log flumes is that many of them that I've ridden seemed to be on supports that put the trough high off the ground, thus making it visually interesting. This, and Pilgrims Plunge just look flat out boring besides the drops. I'd rather ride Maverick and then pour a huge cup of water over my head afterward. This will certainly suit the GP, and I can't say Cedar Point made a bad move, but the design leaves a lot to be desired, in my opinion. Thank you for giving an explanation for the original poster! -
^ Oldies but goodies to take us in to the holiday weekend!

I also don't understand why they make it so hard. I can't image how fast word would get around about a new ride with all of the social networking going around if people could easily embed these rendition videos in to things like Facebook and blogs. Wouldn't a park actually want that kind of stuff to happen to get maximum exposure? -

"Cedar Point: Bringing back an old classic!" "Have you got yer fixin' uh Whyte Lightning? Come ride the new Shoot the Rapids, only at Cedar Point!" "Shoot the Rapids, a new way to get wet at Cedar Point!" That was hard. -

Read the ride page. It has to do with the theme of the ride: You'll board your boat inside the Crystal Rock Bottling Company and travel through rivers, around an illegal moonshine still and encounter some wild feudin' and fightin'. We still have no clue what they're fightin' over (it could be Whyte Lightnin'), but yer sure to be a part of it! -

I like a good Chaos. However, it is just a flat. -

I think all of those are major additions (with the exception of Chaos). Starlight Experience is a very good addition for any park. -
Wait, a Photo Trip Report from Larry?! That is the first. But, it really isn't a true one considering the borrowed photos. Way to go Larry. I've been wanting to do this trip since Nathan did it back a few years ago with Coaster Zombies. I can't wait to see your version in pictures! (Old school TPC references included in this sentence)

Disney to acquire Marvel
Hercules replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Exactly, Huh? ^^ No. They didn't purchase Washington, DC, they purchased Marvel, CO. Please keep up with the conversation. Anyway, in all seriousness. I really don't see anything Marvel being added to the parks within the near future. I really do think this is more of a movie/television plan for the next 5 years or so. -

Ok. Everyone. Please listen. I am not a huge comic nerd, but it isn't hard to figure out. Six Flags has DC Comics characters ONLY. Batman is DC. Superman is DC. The superhero characters in Six Flags parks are DC, because they have a license with DC Comics. -
What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
Hercules replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I'm very interested in knowing more about Scooby Doo Spooky Coaster. Was it the theme or the actual ride that you liked? -
^ Come on now. No time for making jokes. This is serious business. We need a true list of DJ's that can be posted in this thread. No need for your tomfoolery. Besides, we all know DJ Tanner is actually Candace Cameron, who I believe would be eligible to be posted within this thread, though, I think she would follow under the "Childhood Crush" list.

Carowinds Discussion Thread
Hercules replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dear Carowinds, Cedar Fair, and the Kinzel Family, Thank you very much for putting up a live update webcam. On behalf of those who do not have a life, you have given them the ultimate joy and pleasure of watching the construction of your new coaster, as they will witness a new image on their computer monitor every 2-5 seconds. They are now able to see every support be risen, and every 20 foot movement of each bulldozer. Not only that, but the Carowinds thread on ThemeParkReview will be nearly 200 pages in length by Labor Day due to each 1 sentence update from random members, taking little chunks out of Robb and Elissa's bandwidth - larger chunks from those who decide to post screenshots every 37 seconds. So once again, thank you all, and may you all have a great night! Thanks, Jay Willis Representative of all coaster nerds with nothing to do with thier life 555-555-5262 -

Well, you just kicked my butt off of my seat didn't you? Some parks go years, and years without a new, top of the line coaster. But this is Cedar Point right? 3 years is way too long to go without a coaster. It is not like Cedar Fair is putting a ton of investment in to other parks within their chain or anything. Or, that the entire amusement industry is feeling the crunch of the recession the U.S. is in. No, not Cedar Point. They are invinsible. -
Disney to acquire Marvel

1. Like the other two said, Bizzarro would be DC. Plus, even if they weren't DC and were Marvel, I think you would be feeling bad for Six Flags not just because of the Bizzarro themed rides, ALL of their parks would need to be rethemed or be paying a luxury to keep the superhero names etc. That would put them off the face of the earth. Good thing Six Flags doesn't have the Marvel license I guess, eh? 2. I don't really think the majority of their park-goers would really care. I 'm pretty sure if anyone lost respect, it would be a small portion of those who follow up with the industry, which is already a very small part of their visitors. 3. Man I really want to see some good movies. -
