  1. ^^ There was text at the beginning that clearing said "The Switch"
  2. Howie Day... and it SUCKED
  3. After reading this whole thread, I just think it is hilarious how the Cedar Point fanboys hate the idea of an Aqua Trax just because they don't like anything that doesn't go over 90mph and isn't a record breaker in height. First it was disappointment with another "flat ride" this year, and now these rumors. I'll have to head over to PointBuzz to see how many are crying over there
  4. Right. Stew and GACoaster are the only ones, and you can get their info right here
  5. Actually, DON'T go to GADV Source because a lot of the information there IS NOT good.
  6. Actually, DON'T go to GADV Source because a lot of the information there IS NOT good.
  7. How is it not bad as last time? I would say that if it is a cable snap, it is no where near as bad as a train rocketing down the track and coming to a dead hault. With that said though, I would like to announce that Kingda Ka is now tied for the Willis award of Worst Park Investment Ever" with Top Thrill Dragster. I would like to say, congratulations.
  8. A $5 large would turn into a $25 large at a theme park.
  9. Yes. I never stopped calling it that. Sometimes I also call it Kinda Krap. I'm pretty sure it is not just "Kinda", it is full on, all out "Krap" At least the Batman side of Chiller is working!!! New credit for me tomorrow! At least I've already been on Kingda Ka. Suckers
  10. I heard May 8th and saw it on the website too. Without problems it will be good to go for Memorial Day weekend, just like I thought it should have been open for in the first place. It would be crazy to not have it for such a busy weekend when the season really gets rolling.
  11. What a great investment And I was just talking my girlfriend into riding this thing this weekend. There goes that idea. I guess I just won't tell her about this accident and hopefully get her on later in the season if it is up a running.
  12. It's all about Mike & Ike
  13. I love this question and the answer changes every time for me. 1. My girlfriend - It just isn't a good time without her. I could choose someone else that I don't know to try to pick their brain and ask them all kinds of questions, but it just wouldn't be the same without her there. 2. Michael Jordan - Not only is he the best basketball player ever, but he truly is a great role model eventhough he gambles a lot. I think he is a very intelligent and business savvy guy who knows how to carry himself with the media. I would love to just sit and have a long conversation with him. 3. Andy Kaufman - I think that this man is the funniest person ever to live, and I think he was a total genius. Some might call him crazy, but just think he was exactly what I just said - genius. 4. Tom Hanks - Every movie that I see of his I don't say "Oh, it's Tom Hanks", I say "Oh, it's Forrest Gump" or whatever the character is. If someone can make me think that, they must be good. I truly think he is the best actor that I have seen. 5. Notorious B.I.G. - What can I say, I like rap. I could put in a top 5 for sports, or movies, or politics, or music, but I just wanted to put in different people of different facets of life.
  14. Eh, I'm not really looking for anything positive or upbeat. I was just thinking over the past couple of days after the Philly PETA conference that I went to this past weekend and thought it might make a decent discussion topic. I'm not really looking for anything to change. It isn't really where the money is. I just don't think that people would really say "Hmmmm, do I go with the chessesteak, fries and soda or the baked falafel pita, diced peaches and water. I'll go with the latter." That just won't happy unless there are diehard vegs at parks, that I know there aren't many of. Although, there has been a steady increase over the last decade, but I'm sure a lot of them aren't parkgoers.
  15. 1. I am getting over a 4 year battle with severe social anxiety disorder. 2. I am a vegetarian. 3. I am the holder of 11 records at my high school for golf and haven't played in a real competition in college yet, but I plan to change that. 4. I am a marketing major and will have at least a 3.8 gpa this semester which is something that I haven't been able to say since my junior year of high school 5. I hate country music.
  16. My girlfriend and I are both vegetarians, with my girlfriend being a vegan. We also try to stay away from "junk" foods, myself more than her I basically stay away from salty and sugary foods, but find it really hard while at amusement parks. There is just too much temptation, especially at Dorney (the prices at Great Adventure are enough to keep me away for the food there). I really don't mind bringing my own food to the park at all, especially places with picnic areas and benchs, but going out to the car and tailgating isn't that big of a deal either. But, is it time for parks to offer more healthy options at parks? I realize the argument that people don't really look for healthier foods while at amusement parks because that is not park of the experience. I heard and interview with Heather Kramer, the public relations director at Dorney, and that is basically what she said. I can see that, but is there a big enough market to at least explore the options of having a few decent, healthy options here and there? Because I know that I would be happier knowing that I don't have to succomb to the evil junk food gods at an amusenment park, knowing that there are other options out there. I'm sure I'm in the minority on this site about this topic, but are there others out there? Are there enough general park goers out there that this might seem halfway logical?
  17. 1. Flyers at Knoebels 2. Any Lusse Auto Skooters 3. Any Star Flyer 4. Phoenix 5. Any well run Whip 6. Drachen Fire 7. Kumba 8. Any well run Scrambler 9. Any well run Pirate Ship 10. Any Curtis Summers coaster in its first 2 years of operation Kind of what I came up with on the fly when I saw this topic, so I'll just go with it.
  18. Before reading this I was going to mention Scream Machine. But you know what? I'm actually notoriously known for hating parking lot coasters, but I think that is the only one that actually give the ride a little bit of character. I love how the yellow lines are still visible and that the concrete blocks (whatever they are called) are still there.
  19. I'm taking my homer pick of Dorney. I know that they are on a 4 year pattern for coaster additions, if you don't count the Wild Mouse, but I just think they are going to break the trend and put in a wood. Hey Joe, should I link to my "Investigative Report" for the 10000th time?
  20. I've never been to Cedar Point, but it just looks dull to me. My home park is Dorney and the life has been sucked out of that place. I can't imagine that the atmosphere is any different at Cedar Point. Just looking at webcams and photos of the place, it just looks blah to me. Good rides, but no atmosphere don't measure up to a good park to me. That is just my opinion though and I'll wait to experience the place to make a fair judgement.
  21. Jarvis. Dude. Please don't go with the plaid.
  22. That's true. I saw that episode. I don't really see what you guys are getting at though. Everyone knows that those nets are there for when people fall out
  23. For those that just can't get enough.... Some more goods in there. Good amount of info
  24. I actually think that Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train at Great Adventure is a pretty decent family coaster.
  25. In Mick Foley ["Mankind"]'s second book [he has quite a few, all of which have been bestsellers and many of which were critically acclaimed], he actually has top ten lists of favourite coasters, parks, non-coaster rides, and waterparks. He's a huge coaster nut. And WOW, WRESTLING IS "FAKE"? I NEVER WOULD HAVE GUESSED. THANK YOU FOR ENLIGHTENING ME. That is true. I have seen him at Great Adventure a couple of times, and I'm sure that a few other people have too. He is a huge fan of coasters.
