  1. There already are better ways. There are vegan pets foods and companies that don't use animal testing in any way.
  2. No, just more fairly. I would if they paid me enough money, promised not to ruin my eye sight like they do with rabbits and other animals and promised not to cut anything off. What can I say? I'm a poor college kid Even I have to admit that is a little off base.
  3. And the fact that there are three Superman: Ultimate Flights, not two. I am a marketing major and I love marketing and advertising. I understand the motive behind this, but I really did love the name Nitro and I thought it was very original. As a parkgoer and park enthusiast, I don't like it when original names like this are used over and over again, even though I understand the motives behind it. I get it as a business guy - I hate it as a park enthusiast.
  4. Why are we the top of the food chain? Weren't animals here before us? Isn't this their home too? I can see that you want to eat animals. That is fine. But to exploit them and put them through misery? That is ok? You can eat whatever you want, I don't care. That is your choice. But would you slit another person's throught? Would you torture someone else? Would you beat another human? I know there are some out there that do these kinds of things, but to society that is viewed as wrong, illegal, etc. Why would it be right to do to animals? I am just out to make sure that animals get a fair chance. If you want to eat them, fine. I just want them to have a good life in that short period. I am a big advocate of CSA farms, that at least give their animals a chance to live a decent and peaceful life and they are slaughtered in the most humane way possible. This isn't a matter of just eatting meat, it is just testing animals fairly. A comment about us "being on top of the food chain" is not relevant here. Torturing anything living is not right. And to go off on the "top of the food chain" thing, we have been very unkind to Earth as a race of people. It is our home and we have destroyed most of it and used up so many of its resources. Do you get mad when a group of teenagers went into your local theme park and trashed it? No, of course you wouldn't. You would think that they were disrespecting it and you would get mad. We are majorly disrepecting the Earth. Humans as a whole believe that they are above everything and that is what is going to end us. Sometimes I hope it ends us sooner than later. I could go on, but I think I'm going to go do something else to take my mind off of things and to prevent a stroke.
  5. Nah. That track is in the background, giving off the illusion of a headchopper
  6. So yeah, you are posting propaganda. I don't think posting videos like the raccoon is fair, or somebody mentioned the lady stepping on the puppy, because those concentrated events. In the big picture, it happens very rarely. When you see something like that happen doesn't mean you have to attack the entire industry, just that particular company. There are regulations set on what is humane or not and if I'm not mistaken the FDA does regular checks on meat packing and production facilities. True, some may not follow them 100% of the time, and when that happens it is bad, but those facilities do get checked and often are forced to improve their standards or be shut down. I've never really considered propaganda that. Thanks for the definition though. I do think that the video about the fur industry is fair because that is normal practice in China. There wasn't anything stated about that being the United States. It is not just one incident, but that is what happens on a day to day basis. Clearly it would be illegal to test on humans, but testing on anything is just not right. And the whole medicine thing is something that I brought up back a while ago. I hate the world, and I could go on forever about food and toxins and all, but I'll just keep it short. A lot of diseases out there would be eliminated with a good diet. I too hate the radical groups that give "people like me" a bad name. It is crazy, but I do realize that sometimes drastic things have to be done. Though, sometimes they go way too far. In one instance that I believe it did not go far was when a few teens in Colorado stole (I would say saved, but the case and owner said stole) three very sick cattle from a farm that they had visited. They took the cattle and got them the proper medical attention that they needed and took them back to the farm. The owner of the farm claimed that the teens disrupted his daily operations and took them to trial. They were sentenced to 23 years in prison and their appeal was not recognized this past Monday. That is a time that I think that it is warrented. Oher times, like blowing up a turkey farm to "save" the animals is a little crazy when you are causing a riot of turkeys which kills half of them and then a quarter of them are hurt in the blast. That is just stupid. People need to realize that you can be professional and still make a point.
  7. The most I have seen is 8. There were new ride ops being trained that day on Nitro.
  8. Why? Because you are a human?
  9. Yeah, that fish empathy thing that was told before is a little out there. Sometimes I wish they wouldn't seem crazy. Though, tests are showing that fish really do have empathy and sympathy emotions and are fairly smart animals. They were just trying to make a point, even though they tried to do it in a way that really came off wacko.
  10. I don't really think that I'm posting "propaganda". I think I'm posting things that are true. If you choose to believe them, that is fine. I am just posting what I believe in. If you read what I posted, thank you. If you don't want to listen, that is fine, I just don't appreciate being taunted. Just like Penn and Teller said, you have the right to choose. I understand that.
  11. My all time favorite by far is Boy Meets World. Right now I'm a big fan of Boston Legal.
  12. there is money to be made at a real coaster park in So Cal! With a whole lot of work.
  13. I do agree that sometime PETA does go over the line. I wish that they kind of handled themselves differently in some situations. I mean, there is no reason to go out into public naked. The is no reason to really be overly shocking sometimes. They say it is to get attention, but sometimes it is bad attention. I think that in most cases if you are professional and have a good message, it can get through to people more than being shocking and then following up the shock with a good message. Holy s...! I didn't really care too much about animal cruelty, but now that I've seen this, it looks terrible. They keep them alive! Wow, thats is so screwed up. I'm not against eating meat, but leather? We don't need to kill animals for clothing. If we are slaughtering them for food, and we are simply making use of what is left, that is one thing, but uselessly killing them for their skin. That is terrible. Animal testing? I'm kind of against it,and kind of in favor of it. For one thing, it saves people's lives, and I think that an animal's life lost as some form of a sacrifice to save a human as alright, but still quite controversial. Thanks for enlightening me on this situation. I'm glad that you got something from this. However, I do have one thing to say about one of your comments. I know that a lot of people believe that testing on animals essentially saves human lives, but what does testing on a rat really do? Rats and humans are much different. The same things go for cats, dogs and even chimps and monkeys. The only way to really be able to see what chemicals and products do to humans is by testing on humans. Now I'm not saying that we should start testing on humans, but we need to stop testing on animals. There are a lot of companies out there that do very well without using animals in their products and don't test on animals. http://www.caringconsumer.com/pdfs/companiesDontTest.pdf There are actually some pretty big names on that list. Anyway, I could go on about other facets of the world and how I think corporations have taken over for the worst and how there is an unsettling of society in America and the rest of the world and give environmental views and stuff, but I'll save that for another thread. What I will say is that is this - the drugs that are tested on animals probably wouldn't even need to be made if people just took up a healthier lifestyle. Taking out meats and chesses and other animal derived things is very good for you. But of course, people could do that or keep eatting meat and take the pill that could cause "Nausia, vomitting, loss of sexual desire, headaches, lack of sleep, back problems, could cause you to grow a third eye...." http://www.drmcdougall.com/ http://www.rightfoods.com/
  14. weetopia That's great. Just remember a few things. You have to get organized and have a message. You can't just be walking around with signs. You have to make the signs readable and have a solid message. Also, you want to stay away from places that are private property. You have to be careful in those instances. Sometimes the sidewalk is or isn't depending on where you are. Don't go into the road either. If the police show up, don't panic. The police are on your side. They are just there to make sure that there is no disorderly conduct and that means from you or anyone against you. If they come just send someone over with good people skills and be polite. "May I help you officer?" is a good start and then just explain what you are doing and assure them that you will comply with the laws within the town. Also, be nice to people. Even if people are mean, just smile and say "Thank you". It will confuse the hell out of them, but it is better than being that stereotypical "Psycho animal lover/tree hugger" Also, it is good to have information to hand out incase people are interested. Go to Goveg.com to get some great literature. They have all kinds and I'm sure they will have something that relates to you. And it is free too. I hope that all helps.
  15. I am also vegetarian. I have not gone completely vegan because I like pizza way too much. I have taken cheese out of my diet the best I can and I still eat some things that have eggs and stuff in them. I never liked eggs all the much, just like cakes. This is really the most disturbing of all the videos that I have seen. I can't believe that I used to eat animals. Just knowing that they are treated this way is disturbing to say the least. http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/video.asp?video=meet_your_meat&Player=wm&speed=_med Meet your Meat
  16. I know that you were just joking, I just wanted to take the time to make a point while working off of your joke. And yes, this is a serious issue and I hope that people will look at the information that I post in here with an open mind. I'm glad that there is someone else out there too.
  17. No I haven't, but I'm sure it was horrible. My biggest beefs right now are with the elephants and other animals at theme parks. I'm trying very hard to get more awareness about them just by posting online and writing letters. http://www.savewildelephants.com/sixflags.asp Also, there is a big thing right now about the chickens used at your local Wegman's super market. The chickens have seen very harse treatment and aren't even given medical attention when sick.
  18. Why don't you watch how one of those is made and tell me how you would like to be one of those animals. http://www.petatv.com/tvpopup/video.asp?video=fur_farm&Player=wm&speed=_med
  19. I am actually in the process of posting a trip report from the Philly PETA conference from a couple of months ago. I'm glad to see another animal rights person around here.
  20. Nah. They are getting a 270 foot SLC along with the Mystery Mine next year.
  21. I just think it is totally ironic that the government is going after these people when every year there are many stories about senators and house representatives going out and soliciting sex
  22. Ok. But you are basically doing the same thing. You were speculating on how you would like the ride. That is all everyone else is doing. They are speculating that the ride doesn't look that great to them or whatever they are saying. Let them go through the same process as you. You don't have to keep telling them to ride it. Let them find out for themselves. Just chill out. You made your points, now let it be.
  23. Can't this topic be closed or something? I mean really... it is getting a little absurd how people are making plans for something that hasn't even been truly announced or finalized yet.
