  1. Oh well. Maybe KI will get an Intamin prefab out of all of this.
  2. I know I'm probably saving myself from having to see a chiropractor, but SOB is one credit I still want.
  3. ^Also, since BGW is probably getting a B&M flyer I'll take the giga at KD. One of each for me.
  4. ^Me too, but possibly not as long as MF.
  5. My hopes for any theming of substance at KD died when they turned Yogi's Cave into Treasure Cave.
  6. I'll miss the ride but I can have full days at Busch Gardens and not ride BBW. I'll definitely try to get one last ride in though. Also, I think people are shooting down the possibility of a B&M flyer a little too quickly. Granted, I've only been on two of the Superman versions and consider them above average rides. The feedback I'm hearing about Manta is pretty good. If they can pull off the theming and do something the size of Tatsu or bigger then a flyer might be a great addition to the park. For some reason I don't believe BG will get that great family ride we were talking about earlier in the thread--the Powder Keg, Mine Ride, whatever.
  7. BeemerBoy just drove the living fear of God into me. TAER IT DOWN!
  8. ^ and^^Ha--I just said this in Erik's SDC photo update. Great minds think alike or something. I also need to kiss up to SharkTums. She has good blackmail material on me.
  9. Just to bring in another hot topic of the day--it looks as if a ride like Powder Keg would be a good replacement for Big Bad Wolf. Doubt it would happen though.
  10. I always get hungry after looking at Printersdevil's Trip Reports.
  11. Anyway, I bet the one being built at Carowinds either gets above 240 in height or drop.
  12. I don't think mine has changed much from my last post in this thread. I did get 27 new credits on the Texas trip but none of them crept into my overall top 10 (some crept into my woodie top 10 but that list was pretty pathetic already): 10) Volcano 9) Sheikra (or Griffon, depending on the day you ask me) 8 ) Kraken 7) Mummy (USF) 6) Dueling Dragons--Fire 5) Goliath (SFOG) 4)Apollo's Chariot 3) Kumba 2) Nitro 1) El Toro *I recently decided that Superman at SFA wasn't running as well the last time I rode it so it's off this list.
  13. Just to add to this, I really hope Cedar Fair does some off-season renovating for KD. While it doesn't need to be Busch-quality, CF needs to do something to make me people say,"That was a really nice, clean park. We'd go back even if there weren't a 300 foot monstrosity to ride."
  14. That TR makes me wish I had just taken off a few more days of work. Great pictures as usual!
  15. I never said they wouldn't draw crowds. I said they wouldn't be surpassing BGW's numbers. If they do, I'll be more than happy to admit I was wrong, but have you ever worked at a park? Do you know what it takes for a park to have an additional 1 million guests per year? When you only operate a full season of about 120 days, that's an additional 8,000 people PER DAY. I can tell you having worked at/with many theme parks that an increase like this is unheard of. And I don't think there is a single park in the world that would be prepared for an additional 8,000 people to come through the gates every day from the year before. I'm guessing that a "busy day" for KD is somewhere around 35,000ish people. So if all of a sudden 25% more people came the next year, I doubt the park would even have the infrastructure to handle it! Even in 2003 when Cedar Point added the tallest, fastest coaster in the world, they only saw an attendance increase of 3.3% or about 108,000 people for the season, or about 1,000 people per day. Trust me, I think you'll see a lot of people at KD in 2010, and I'm not biased about one park over the other, but if you're expecting KD's attendance to jump 800,000 to 1,000,000 additional people in 2010, I think you'll be quite disappointed when it doesn't happen. --Robb "Set realistic expectations - that's my advice." Alvey You don't factor in the drop in attendance that Busch Gardens will almost definitely see next year. Their attendance dropped off in 2008 when they did not add anything, not only will they not add anything for 2010, they will lose an attraction. I never said you were bias, I know you are not, I know you are very knowledgeable, but I think Kings Dominion will win the attendance battle. It will be VERY interesting to see who is right! I know a lot of fearless teens (about 100 % of teens), who will beg their parents to go to Kings Dominion just for this new coaster, which you know they will be seeing endless commercials for on tv. Teens would be part of a family, right. Anyway, nighty night Tpr members, try not to have to much fun speculating and crunching numbers without me. You really think KD's attendance will jump from 1 million to 4 million? I think this new coaster will mark the beginning of a new golden age for KD but a lot more needs to be done over the next several years for the park to be on Cedar Point's level--assuming that CF's goal is indeed to make KD the "Cedar Point of the East Coast". Busch Gardens may see some drop in attendance if they don't announce a new attraction for next year but if Robb's numbers are accurate, there's no way they lose 3 million in attendance.
  16. It doesn't seem too rough from the camera. Kind of a boring layout though. I'll take people's word that it was rough as hell.
  17. Kings Dominion on Wednesday. First trip of the year there.
  18. The whole "old" section of Schlitterbahn scared me once Robb said the word "parasites" on the Texas trip.
  19. It's true. I'm slightly misty-eyed. Oh wait--thats just the salt water from the speed boat trip.
  20. No, they don't need to. A solid, signature 42" - 48" attaction would be just fine. --Robb I think one would be hard put to find four adult coasters at Kings Dominion to match Apollo's Chariot, Griffon, Alpie, and Loch Ness. So I agree with Robb on this, a reliable coaster that many guests can enjoy may be in order.
  21. I'm not going to vote in the poll just yet as I've only been on Ga Scorcher and Carowinds' Vortex. I will vote in the thread and it goes to...Georgia Scorcher!!! I actally didn't mind Vortex so much though. Maybe it's because the only other stand-up I've been on besides these two is Shockwave and I heard a rumor that the government dismantles that and takes it down to Guantanamo during the off-season. The folks down there prefer the waterboarding.
  22. Uh, if it's true that Anaconda's on the way then it sounds like they're replacing it with an Intamin Giga.
  23. I was just glad on the trip to find out your actual name so I could stop calling you "Jizzman". Good photos, btw.
  24. Every coaster at a Busch park has a "Born On Date." This one simply reached it's stale point. Same thing happened with Python a couple years back. The next time you ride a coaster at a Busch park, look closely at the first support outside the station. The date is located there. Sorry if I sounded stupid, but what exactly is a "born on date"? Is it the date the ride becomes a maintenance nightmare? Or is it technically the date the ride opened and Busch is just placing it there to let people know that the ride will be torn down soon? I'm just gonna quote this so I have it preserved for all time. Now that you have it preserved, should I help him out? Also, now that this thread has become the Official BGW Discussion thread, what would people like to see come to the park? There have been rumors of a park expansion around Drachen Fire (and that the subtraction of BBW would help provide a better walkway). Other rumors include the possible construction of an uber B&M Flyer--taller and bigger than Manta. I know people are sad to see BBW go but this could also be an excellent opportunity for the park.
