  1. ^Possibly. What would normally be a 20-minute drive could be an hour or more. I-64 to Busch Gardens can be pretty bad on weekends like this too and that's mostly a 2-lane instead of 3.
  2. ^Looks like I305 might be a work in process throughout the season. Or maybe not. This will be the last week before daily operations. Was thinking about going this weekend but I don't feel like sifting through the crowds.
  3. ^I might go on Sunday too to see how much the ride has changed. Hope the park's not too bad.
  4. It's nothing at all against the locals, don't get me wrong, it's just that I know what it's like being a local to a big park and you're far more likely to critize something a lot more, and possibly even slightly unfairly when you are there all the time. Whereas something even as major as a trim brake all the way down the first drop of i305 might be like murdering tuna-safe dolphin to a park local isn't as big of a deal to a less frequent visitor. I want to hear from the locals, by all means, but I'd put a bit more weight into that less frequent visitor as to how much something like these trims really affect the ride. --Robb That was more tongue-in-cheek than anything. While I haven't ridden as many coasters as a lot of fans I do still consider I305 my #1 steel so that in itself could make me look sort of fanboy-ish. I was going to try to ride it this weekend but will probably put it on hold due to thunderstorms in the area, a conflicting event tomorrow, and the Lost finale on Sunday. When I do report back about it I'll do my best to give my perspective from someone who might visit the park less frequently and also my more "local" feeling about it. Hopefully, it isn't as big a "disaster" as some of the fanboys have made it out to be and a compromise can be made as this ride might be "testing" throughout this whole season. I do think the intensity was probably a little much and while somewhat disappointing, the modification isn't a major surprise to most enthusiasts who have ridden it (local, or otherwise).
  5. ^I don't know about #1 but I would like to see it at least in the top 10. Hope it doesn't get modified for the worse.
  6. It was cool meeting up with you and Darkstitch (and Homeboy23 briefly). Sorry about the crummy SFA experience. Hopefully I'll be able to pull off a Carowinds/Dollywood trip and meet up with you again!
  7. Ha--and we all thought the restraints issue was put to rest...
  8. So spinning coaster idea was rumored before Shapiro got ousted. I wonder how much of the old plans will be carried out.
  9. ^Yeah--seems somewhat misleading. I wish that was how the lines were yesterday.
  10. I rode Joker's Jinx in 2008 and Poltergeist last year. JJ did seem to kind of meander through the course. Poltergeist became my favorite of the Premier "Spaghetti Bowl" designs.
  11. Well, I've said I wouldn't go back to SFA until they get a new coaster and a Tony Hawk spinner would be enough for me. While not world beaters, I rode the Texas ones and they were quite fun. I rode Roar in Sept 2008 and thought it was rough but still fun. This may have been discussed earlier in the thread, but has there ever been speculation as to whether Millennium Flyers could be installed on Roar? I'll also add that I've been reading this thread for the last 20 pages or so and SFARegular has become my hero.
  12. Rode 305 twice today and it seemed just as sweet a ride as it was opening weekend in April!
  13. I'd rather see him sell some parks than have another SFKK situation.
  14. I might have to make a trip up there after work today.
  15. I rode it about 12 times opening weekend. I'm going back tomorrow and hopefully I won't notice any difference if the trim story is true.
  16. So is there any room for a Mega-lite in the expansion plans?
  17. This may sound strange, but out of the flyers I've been on (S:UF at SFGAdv and SFoG, Batwing, and Nighthawk), Batwing is my favorite. Maybe I need to get some Manta going on.
  18. ^I never got tired of riding Haunted River!
  19. ^I rode The Great Chase with my friend and we were both in great pain on that ride/ The most whorish I've been was when I was on my way to work I stopped off and rode Python Pit at Go-Karts Plus in W-burg and on my way back from Baltimore I stopped off at Funland in Fredericksburg for Jett Star. The Jett Star one was particularly embarrassing because they had to search out the ride op and they just let me ride continuously until I told them to stop after like the 10th lap. Then the lapbar had trouble releasing and the ride op didn't know how to manually release it. They had to call a supervisor in to help out. I practically ran out of there when I was done.
  20. This is somewhat off-topic, but why did they rename Avalanche to HellCat?
  21. Not a huge water ride fan but I really liked Dudley Do-Right. I found El Asseradero at SFoT to be kind of a let-down but I appreciate it for being one of the first.
  22. I still think it's funny (sad?) that people who go to Magic Mountain think that Terminator is a rethemed Psyclone. People who went to KD would probably think the same if a GCI went where Hurler resides. I'd also like to add that I rode Hurler in 1995 for the first time and thought it was a fun ride. I rode it in either 2006 or 2007 and decided I'd never ride it again.
