  1. Well, they didn't disappoint! In fact, all of the former Paramount Parks except Great America have gotten/will have a hyper by the summer of 2010! So looks like all the speculations three years ago have finally come true! Sounds like a good old-fashioned internet board call out post. Robb--care to respond?
  2. Now, how could the chat be more entertaining than this thread? Wait, are the sharks IN THIS THREAD?
  3. I have Kraken rated higher than Dominator (they're 1-2 for me) but that's a bit of an exaggeration.
  4. PKD--I really like that shot of Dominator! Great photos as usual! Without them we would have been "what the hell are we getting?" this whole summer instead of speculating about 380 foot gigas back in June!
  5. All the KD "fanbois" have been enjoying Apollo's Chariot an hour away for the last 10 years!
  6. So I'm guessing from the comments that the Dive Machine is a clone of Sheikra but taller by 13 feet? Also, are all 4 Mega-Lites clones of each other? Just wondering. Thanks for the pictures. I have no idea if I'll ever be able to go to these China parks so it's great to hear about them.
  7. Robb's suggestion will probably work and at this point the coaster priority list is splitting hairs. My 5 must-rides at KD would be Intimidator, Volcano, Dominator, Flight of Fear, and Grizzly.
  8. We should go to onlinepetion.com and petition for actual lapbars. Online petitions never fail!
  9. I looked at it last night and all I saw was dark of night. So I think it's updating.
  10. ^You had to bring up the crushing thing. I had blocked that out from your exposition about it on the Texas trip. Robb might kill me for this, but I'm still not convinced about what we're getting for this thing restraint wise. Chalk it up to too much coaster geek forum exposure for the day.
  11. I was IMing my friend who's neither a NASCAR nor a coaster fan but he knows I love coasters. I sent him a link to the video page at intimidator305.com because he knows I'm excited for this ride. This was his response: THE INTIMIDATOR haha oh my god are you kidding me??? based off the bumper sticker/t-shirt guy??? every richmonder in richmond sports hahaha
  12. All my NASCAR cracks aside, I agree with this. I think most NASCAR fans who weren't Dale fans had a certain degree of respect for him. This kind of deal alone might bring in guests who possibly wouldn't visit KD. Richmond was one of the contenders to get the NASCAR Hall of Fame so it definitely has a draw in the area.
  13. To match what's going on in the queue? Isn't that redundant?
  14. And with that I'll take a grain of salt with his opinions.
  15. You're going to Georgia? This coaster's in Virginia.
  16. I resemble that comment! I am an avid NASCAR fan and go to Bristol, Richmond, and Martinsville on a regular basis. So what if KD is cashing in on the amount of people that are. Where else can you find 165,000 people sitting around a 1/2 mile racetrack size stadium. That is a heeluva lot of people to draw from to entice to your park. As far a "riff-raff", sure there are the "redneck" types at the track, but there is also businessmen with their families, and average everyday people. Personally I can't wait to get back down to KD and try this monster out, it looks amazing! Maybe I should have said "NASCAR GP"?
  17. Oddly enough, when they unveiled the model and showed the video, Intimidator was pretty much what I'd pictured it would be. I've become quite a fan of Intamin rides after Piraten and Expedition GeForce, and if this ride is as good as those, I'll be quite satisfied. But the proof will be in the riding. Word. This is the kind of coaster KD has needed for a long time. While I'm not a NASCAR fan, I think this coaster could go a long way in putting KD on the map.
  18. ^^^So, Chuck--it looks like a nice event you went to. Were you able to form an early impression of the actual coaster?
  19. ^Ugh. NASCAR riff-raff. Not looking forward to it.
  20. The more I look at the layout, the more I like it. I can't really comment on the restraints because I don't know how that will play out. I've commented elsewhere that I felt like KD would end up getting MF's little brother. I've never ridden but MF but it seems like more is going on in this 5100 feet than MF's 6500. I'm sure my outlook may change from now until opening day, but for now I'm pretty excited. CF Platinum Pass for me in 2010!
  21. ^Erik speaks truth. For $10 million you could get yourself a mighty fine GCI or Gravity Group.* *I guess it should be noted that I haven't been on a mighty fine ride by either of these companies--Gwazi, Roar (SFA), and Boardwalk Bullet.
  22. After the way things ended between Junior and DEI there's no way he'd be invited. Junior's not a fan of his stepmom and vice versa. (I hope this knowledge doesn't make me come off as a NASCAR fan. I hate the sport but I follow enough sports to know about this.)
  23. ^I've ridden Superman in June of 2006 and September of 2008 and it's definitely gotten rougher. Still a great ride though.
  24. It's going to take more than this giga to spike KD's attendance to top 20 levels. It depends on what other additions and plans the park receives over the next several years. It will be a mult-year process for KD to become "the Cedar Point of the East Coast" (not sure where that oft-quoted phrase comes from). Dominator and Project 2010 are only the beginning.
  25. I changed my vote since I've been to 3 more Six Flags parks since I was last in here: 1) Six Flags Great Adventure 2) Six Flags over Georgia 3) Six Flags Fiesta Texas 4) Six Flags over Texas 5) Six Flags America I'll just add that there's a lot of separation between 4 and 5.
