  1. Yeah--I remember the ads for this ride when I was around 7 or 8. Totally scared me. I never got around to riding it until I was 16 but there was still that childhood fear lingering in the back of my mind as I was standing in line and about to get on. Fun ride, especially at night. T'will be missed.
  2. There's always a h8ter learking within... While it's mostly a joke I've seen people already predicting that it will be the best coaster ever. Let's at least wait until an announcement and for vertical construction to begin before we start crowning it. Living 20 minutes away, I obviously hope it lives up to some of the expectations fans are already putting on it. This is the type of coaster KD has needed for a long time so I definitely want it to succeed!
  3. I can tell you that there is no way you will be disappointed if you go to both Universal and Island of Adventure. Hulk was my least favorite ride in both parks. Wait till you ride Revenge of the Mummy, Spiderman, Terminator, Dueling Dragons, Jurassic Park, Men in Black, Ripsaw falls, the list goes on and on. You will love it! Plus Simpsons and Rip, Ride, Rockit (if it's open). Seriously, I don't know what your family's budget is but you could always run it by the folks to see if you could swing a trip to Sea World (Kraken and Manta) or Busch Gardens. I don't know how old you are (you sound sort of youngish) but I seriously doubt this will be the only time in your lifetime you'll have a chance to go to Cedar Point.
  4. I'm far from well-off but my priorities are just enough out of whack that when I go to a big park like Great Adventure or Over Georgia I will spring for the Flash Pass. In my opinion, it's not a question of how much money you have, it's about how you want to spend what money you do have. Actually with the way SF parks run the system it's just another reason not to patronize their parks...case in point SFA reserving a whole train specificlly for flashpass riders, thus making guests wait longer in the queue, which is just one more reason why I stopped going there. At least CF parks, such as KD don't treat their guests in this manner & they make every effort when possible to run rides at full capacity. Six Flags America is the only SF park where I haven't used a Flash Pass (besides one Friday night at Great Adventure where I was just hoping to get one ride in on El Toro--mission accomplished!). The only time it looked like they didn't know how to manage the system was for Batwing where the operations are god-awful bad whatever the scenario is. I don't mind the system implemented as I've seen it so far. I know that when I don't pay for the FlashPass I may have to wait in extreme lines. If this is a concern for me I'll pay up.
  5. ^Right. That was the point of my post that his statement overlooked the fact that KK has one of the more unique stand-ups out there--i.e. not a clone.

  7. I couldn't decide whether the OP was parody posting, really bored, or what.
  8. Being a Monday, you might be able to get most of the coaster stuff done. I went on a Sunday at the end of July in 2006 with my sister and brother-in-law and we were able to get Goliath, 2 rides on Ga Scorcher, Ga Cyclone, GASM, Ninja, Mindbender, Batman, Superman, and Deja Vu (at least you don't have to worry about that one) with a regular Flash Pass. We also did the Wheelie. I think with your time constraints and not getting a Flash Pass, you should just try to do what you can and not worry about going after everything. Especially, if you're coming back next year.
  9. If Great America closes I wonder if Valleyfair fans would finally get the B&M invert they've always wanted.
  10. I've never been to Cedar Point but seeing as how this is a family trip I'd suggest Universal. Larrygator makes some good points as well. See? You've already opened yourself to getting advice from someone who's never been to one of your park options
  11. ^Would a large grain of salt be like what they use on those Super Soft Pretzels?
  12. After riding Krypton Coaster on the Texas trip: 1) Kraken 2) Dominator 3) Superman Krypton Coaster (I really enjoyed this ride but it wasn't as forceful as the top two. I got an excellent front seat ride at night during the ERT session. One of my favorite rides of the trip.) 4) Medusa East 5) Hydra
  13. I don't believe the Mork&Mindy's (I love the name though) post either but even a 240 foot tall full-circuit coaster would be good for KD. Only a month and a half ago "giga" never came into my thought process. The early supports that arrived made most of us think iSpeed or Maverick. KD just needs a high-capacity new signature attraction and I think they're getting that in whatever is being built. I just happen to think it's a giga.
  14. Whatever the coaster ends up being at KD for next year.
  15. ^I don't know of anyone who got sick. We just all smelled like seawater. It was a perk of the day, not an upcharge, although I was convinced that it was done to force us to buy (dry) T-shirts. And it worked as I picked up a Boardwalk Bullet shirt.
  16. Plus when the local news interviewed that John Pagel guy he hinted that the rumors about the giga on the internet were accurate. KD knows that this ride will generate buzz among coaster enthusiasts. I'd go so far as to say it's almost like a viral marketing plan set to keep die-hard enthusiasts blogging and chatting about it. If they wanted to keep it a secret then they wouldn't put the track right out in the open in the parking lot. Sorry for the off-topic. I'm looking forward to whatever Carowinds gets as well!
  17. Looking for some of that mojo to be sent down Texas way! See you guys on Friday. I've got a plane to catch in 9 hours...
  18. Shhhhh! Don't tell her fiance! A couple of years ago I got on Ed's s*** list because I thought he was a girl. If I worked the Guess Your Age or Weight game and they added Gender to it I might be in trouble.
  19. I'm going with #10 as well. When I first saw it I thought DCody was a guy so I was immediately turned off. Now my curiosity has been piqued.
  20. This might have a chance to be the creepiest stretch of thread on TPR in a while (for me).
  21. ^I'm the same shade as white as you are and we don't call what we do getting a tan. We call it molting season.
  22. Me? But that's partially because I've got quite a set male of hooters myself.
  23. I have a Discovery one from around 1999-2000 on VHS that covers various new coasters of the time like the Thrust Air prototype (which would become Hypersonic), Medusa, Millennium Force, and Steel Dragon 2000. I'll have to hook up my VCR and go through a boatload of tapes to find out where it is.
  24. I've got Superman: KC coming up later in the week, but for now it's: 1) Kraken 2) Dominator 3) Medusa East 4) Hydra (I don't count Dive Machines but if I did, Griffon would be #2)
