So what new coaster is coming to BGW in 2007???
ECZenith replied to Bob O's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Perhaps if it is a dive machine it will do the splashdown where Le Scoot's last drop is. I could see them removing Le Scoot, not saying I want them to, but... Log rides typically get very long lines due to bad capacity, not always because of popularity. Also, BGW already has a rapids ride and a shoot-the-chutes ride to keep people cooled off. I still think they could squeeze a decent coaster in there without removing it, but maybe they feel its getting a bit old. -
Some new stuff for the Patriot

Gorgeous B&M trains, as usual. Cool to see that its testing now. -

Not only that, but they said 120' is small for such a ride. (Le Scoot's last drop is actuall yonly 50' tall! That's a pretty big error) -

Did anyone grab any photos of this train? -
The "Dragon Tower" was scrapped I believe and replaced by Everest. When they first started building the framework for Everest many people thought it would be the rumored Dragon Tower ride. From the sounds of it, it would be too similar to Dueling Dragons. (this coaster was meant to be inverted but not duel)

Cool photos, thanks for sharing. Looks like this SF park is also feeling the improvements.

http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=23063&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 A lot of people are thinking a B&M Diving Coaster. See this topic. ^ -
I only got to ride it once, and I was very young. I don't remember the coaster all that well, I just remember I was scared to death because it was one of the first coasters I rode with inversions. I don't remember that particular element being rough, it's basically just a corkscrew halfway down the drop. What made it cool was that it was so high up in the air. The part I really liked about that ride, asides from the cobra roll, was the cutback element, which started as a corkscrew and right after flipping you upside down, came back back down on the same side.

Yeah, I feel a whole lot better about X already. I should be able to get lots of rides in the front seat. I know this a dumb question... but what do you consider the front seat on this coaster? The first row to leave the station or the last, because the train dispatches backwards... -
You're just TOO BIG to ride!!!

At least they can't get away with theming the trains to classic cars. I actually think the paintjob is kinda cool. Appropriate for the park it's in. -

A Booster Bike would be cool, but I'm satisfied alone with the Starliner finding a new home. -
SFOG 2006 - Early signs of hope
ECZenith replied to ParkTrips's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hope this trend continues at other SF parks. Some of the staff at SFA were just straight-up dicks when I was there a few years ago. We're talking about staff actually copping an attitude with guests not standing behind the yellow line. Yeah, it's obvious you should be behind th eline but damn, at least ACT like you're getting paid. I always feel like I'm going to be shot when I go there. I see Snyder coming in as a good thing, great to see he kept his word on at least this issue. Hopefully it lasts throughout the season and in days to come. -
My parents tell me my first coaster was the "Comet Jr." at the now defunct Linclon Park in Mass. My first "big" coaster was BGT's Scorpion. I rode it when I was around 8 or 9 and thought coasters were great from then on. Going through an inversion for the first time is something you don't forget easily. Unfortunately it was closed on my last visit to BGT.

New Coasters in '07

The Crush coaster at Disney Studios Paris looks like it's going to be themed nicely! Between this and Tower Of Terror that park is just going to be fantastic in the years to come. Now if only they'd add something to the US Disney Studios. -

ECZenith replied to SlimCoasterRider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm 5'11' 190 lbs, I consider myself a larger person but I am in good shape. The problem sometimes isn't one's "gut" but shoulders, long legs, large waist could all factor in as well. I have never had a problem fitting into a roller coaster or any thrill ride for that matter but I have seen countless people turned away for being too big. It must be embarrasing, and I feel bad when I see this, but there's usually a test seat in front of the queue so you don't go and waste your time. I think it is the riders responsibility to be in decent enough shape to ride, and the line has to be drawn somewhere. If you keep making the restraints larger, there will STILL be that REALLY big guy that just won't be able to fit. People that are cruising the fast food drive-thrus instead of hitting Gold's a few times a week should use this as motivation to get in better shape. I see questionable riders getting squeezed in at SFNE on SROS ALL THE TIME and they look like they can't breathe! How healthy and safe can that be?! As far as people that are too tall or have body dimensions that are unfit to ride, it's unfortunate, but as I read earlier in this thread, what about the smaller people? As you make the ride do-able for big people, you may compromise the safety and comfort of the average or smaller person. Just my .02, I say keep it the way it is. Have a couple larger seats but don't overhaul the whole train. -

They modified SFNE's SROS to be idiot proof by adding a seat belt from the floor up to the T-bar. It takes a lot more time to dispatch a train as there are more belts to check and your average SFNE guest usually decides not to click it in place which wastes even more time. I'm not sure if this is the same idea you are thinking of, but I could see it as not impacting dispatch times too horribly at a low capacity park. Unfortunately, I know nothing about Lotte World, the ride looks amazing though! Sean "You must have an IQ of at least 100 to ride" Costa -

It'll be interesting to see the changes, if any that are made to this coaster's trains compared to those on X. I understand new seats have arrived at SFMM from S&S for X's trains, is there anything different about these or are they just new seats of the same design? I'm finally going on X on May 21 during an ERT event. I've been wanting to ride it since it first opened. Is it really as rough as some say it is? I'd imagine the ride experience is completely mind blowing. -

It's very sad to see this, and even sadder to know it could have been avoided if people were doing their jobs properly. Safety should be all park staff's top priority!
