Kings Island building a B&M Hyper Coaster

That rusty track is unpainted. And just because there is a truck there doesn't mean it's being loaded into it. It could be delivering something for all you know. That rusty track was there when I stopped by the place a few months ago. {Science Rant} You see kiddies, steel in it's bare form is a metal. When you take metal and place it outside where it may be exposed to sun, rain, dew, leaves, it tends to rust, such is the habits of metal. {End Science Rant} They fabricate the track pieces in raw steel, then place them outside until they have a chance to paint them. The track they are working on is a burgundy finish color, not to be confused with "rust" which is just the coloring the steel track gets from sitting outside. It's one thing if you have real information to go saying stuff, but just throwing random theories out gets old. Yes, KI takes a long time to announce things, but rest assured, they will make an announcement before the season is over. Until then, don't get your panties in a bunch and just enjoy the suspense. -

^Damn dude, could you be a little more heartless? I mean come on, she's 12, she or her parents probably had no idea that she may or may not have a heart condition. But show a little consideration. (And nice grammar by the way) As for MSNBC rushing to be the first and misspelling crap, that's just the way our world turns now, it's all about recognition and being able to say you were the first, doesn't really matter if you get the story right or spelling, because you can always go back and retract it later. Just sucks for her and her family, wishing her the best and a speedy recovery. -

Who knows or cares what's in those crates. For all we know they could be loading up the old King Cobra cars in those to send off for scrap. Or it could be something for Great Wolf? Could be for the rest of the Monorail pieces. Who knows!! But I think it's a little ridiculous to start jumping to all kinds of conclusions and saying it has to be for the new coaster. From my contact in the park, he has said it might be around September when they make the official annoucement. Steelwork is supposed to start in late July, but that could just be for the station and such. I would doubt they will do much erection while the park is still open. They will have to position cranes and trucks in the pathways of the park to put the pieces together and they can't do that with people walking around. I look for the station, brake run and splashdown to be finished, then when the season ends, they will start erecting the track and supports. -
The InBev/Busch Discussion Thread

Thank you "voice of reason." Everyone is getting so hyper over nothing. I'm sure the company won't scrap the parks or anything like that. Likely they will be sold or spun off into their own entity. Why take 10 million in scrap value when you can have 100 million in revenue each year. Stop worrying, the parks will still be there, the quality might be a little different, but they will stay intact. -
Need help getting to parks 'near' Chicago!
Skramp replied to d3no's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dang, everyone crapping on Cincy. They have a great bus system called Metro, that runs everywhere around the city. You can grab a bus in downtown Cincy that will drop you off in the KI parking lot, it might take an hour for the 20 mile drive, but you can definitely get there with not much confusion. As far as getting to Michigan's Adventure, good luck with that. There are a lot of TPR members here who you might hit up for a ride part way or all the way. You never know what might happen. I live about 25 mins from KI, but wouldn't be able to shuttle anyone, but you can always try. Good luck though, that's a rough triple you're trying to pull off, hope it works out for you. -

So which chain will add the Busch parks to it's Portfolio? Six Flags? Cedar Fair? Disney? Or maybe a foreign company will buy them? -

Welcome to the world of the global economy. It could get bad, but I'm betting the last concern on anyone's mind involved in this is the theme parks. I'm sure we'll hear something about it in a few months, but for now it probably will just be status quo. As far as a foreign company controlling such an American icon, welcome to capitalism where the "Almighty" is the dollar, not some imaginary being in the sky. As much as we, you may not like it, business is all about making money and if InBev made an offer "they couldn't refuse," then that's what it is. -

OMG!!! You have to be kidding!!! A ride got stuck??? NO WAY!! This reminds of when the sky tower at Knott's got stuck a few weeks ago, I mean we needed a whole post describing how an inanimate machine happened to break down and it was such a scare!!! Yes, accidents happen, welcome to life, don't fight with it, you won't win. Seriously, stuff happens all the time, some of it serious, most of it not. If stuff happening bothers you, go to the store, load up on stuff and never open your door again. -

Skramp replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Damn Robb, looks like fun and you have certainly way out done yourself with the comments in the PTR, those are F*&^ING hilarious. That mine train coaster is way messed up, almost like they dug it up and unearthed it and went "what the hell, let's see if it still works?" -
You know, the saddest part of all of this is looking back at the park's overall history. Having lived in OH my whole life, I can remember when they were two separate parks. I can remember going to Sea World, seeing Shamu and the water ski show, then go over to Geauga Lake for like 2 hours and you were done. It was cool what SF tried to do with combining the two of them, and I wish it would have worked better for them. They were really onto something that could have been a gold mine. What sucks is that two great parks have basically been gutted over the years and destroyed, only to be replaced by some crappy waterpark that will see about 3 months of use a year. Anyone else remember feeding the seals at SW? Watching the Shamu show and Dolphin show? Those were great times!!! And although GL wasn't that great in the beginning, it was still a cool park that you could spend an afternoon at and have a great time. It's just sad to see these two iconic parts of OH amusement park history gone now. Who knows what will happen next, but hopefully something good will replace it, or knowing CF, they will probably sell the land to a developer that will build a housing tract there.

Since the other pics of this track were posted here, I figured I would post the pics I took today here also. There was ALOT of track, maybe 70-80 pieces and still some to be painted. It is burgundy/maroon with mustard yellow supports. Still not sure what park this is going to, but could possibly be for KI, we will have to see. PS-if anyone else from the Cincy area wants to go check this out, head east on 275 to 32. Head towards Batavia then take the Front Wheel Dr exit and go to the stoplight, it is right in front of you (Clermont Steel). If you go, post some more pics. -

That video makes me sad, like watching a race car driver wreck really bad then learning later that they died in that wreck. Watching it and knowing that may be one of the last times anyone saw Kong. I remember seeing it back in 94 and being blown away by the sheer size of it. -

This had me rolling on the floor, what attention to detail and with such a sarcastic sense of humor!!! Best prop ever!! -
Of course I realized that, but was still funny. I knew it was just a typo. Just sometimes things strike you as funny. No harm meant in anyway at all.

Not trying to be mean, but this made me laugh so hard. A strong blast of hair? I know what that feels like as my wife's hair is over 2ft. long and she whips it into my face sometimes, not the most enjoyable feeling so that would be a perilous experience.

Fahrenheit Opening Day

Wow, all I can say is WOW!!! Robb, maybe you should revisit the posting rules or something. I'm all for free speech but alot of what the 17 and under crowd has said in this thread is ridiculous!! I think what both you and El wrote were perfectly grounded and it's just a bunch of whining before that. I'm sorry the guy got trampled after waiting so long, but that happens everyday and every park that has ropes before opening, deal with it or don't go (not that his experienced happened that way, but same deal.) Keep up the great work you two and all the TPR assistants. -
So I was talking about this with some friends the other night, so I thought I'd throw it out there. If you could completely retheme a ride, what would you do. Now, were not talking about tweaking what's there, we're talking all new station, que, colors and all, you have complete control. Doesn't have to be your favorite ride, something you've even ridden or a coaster. It can be a flat, dark ride, coaster or anything. Have fun!! I would redo Superman: The Escape at SFMM. You would enter through an Emergency Room entrance and the que would resemble hospital hallways. The loading area would look like and operating room. I would repaint the track silver and the supports black. The track coming out of the station would look like a hollow tube (think hypodermic needle.) I would rename it Adrenaline: The Injection. It would appear that you were being shot out of a syringe into someone. Oh yeah, and take away Superman at the top of the tower and replace it with an oversized beating heart. So what about everyone else?
