The Norwegian Loop is just insane. I can't believe how big it looks. -

Check out the webcam, the other corkscrew is going up, about a third of the way done I would say. -
The future of Animatronics?
asr replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Amazing. I can't see it being used for theme parks for a long time, but the possibilities for theme park use is stunning. Imagine realistic animals walking around as theming, say, a wild west area with horses, a bear in sort of a mountain/forest kinda area, realistic animals for a ride like Jungle Cruise. The potential is endless. -
I understand the city's reasoning for doing this, but it does seem a bit silly considering that Dark Knight is sandwiched between two 200+ foot tall rides that have been at the park for almost a decade now. I would say that a Memorial Day opening is completely out of the question by now, but it should be open by the time the movie opens... Unless the city keeps giving SFNE trouble for a while longer.

Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

At first I thought it looked slow and boring, but in the latest video it looks like its really hauling through the course, particularly over the first camelback and the hammerhead turn. The second half is looking a bit slow though. -

I loved the joke at the end referencing all the people that complain about the same ten people being in TPR Trip updates every time -

I'm sorta suprised to see Eagle Fortress place so high. I knew that enthusiasts loved it, but I didn't realize anyone thought it was top 10 caliber. I'm also sorta suprised that Maverick didn't place higher despite how it well recieved it was with enthusiasts. -

I'm really liking the brick look of the station. Actually, the ride is great looking overall, I love the colors. For some reason I can't get enough of orange and blue painted coasters. -
Hershey Hawaii [RCT3]

Nice idea to keep the resort alive after the death of the park. Can we expect any family rides or coasters added to resort in the future? -
Ccron10's Dippin' Dots Stand Set (CS)

Really looks pretty nice... But will the guy at the stand know what is going in to the park next year? -

Very interesting addition. Looks pretty intense for a family ride aswell, with that absolutly insane layout. -

I'm very interested to see what you do with HH:TR. Do you plan to do all of the effects on the ride, or will the inside just be bare like the wierd dark rides at Taiga Park? -
Carowinds New Ride Names
asr replied to Milkchan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually like "Nighthawk", "Backlot Stunt Coaster", and "The Crypt" (The names, not the rides), but "Flight Deck"?! Almost makes you wish the place was still owned by Paramount. -
Moving backgrounds can be done easily in XP. Maybe not as high quality as Vista, but just select any animated GIF as your background and watch the results.

At that time and Huss and Arrow had merged, but soon became seperate companies again. Arrow-Huss nameplates can be found on several early 80s Arrows I believe, such as Darien Lake's Viper. -

New Vekoma Flyer in China 2008
asr replied to speedracer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That looks positivly insane. Vekoma doesn't exactly have the best reputation, but that looks awesome and I would love to ride it one day. -

SFNE removing five rides this winter.....
asr replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Sorry to bump this, but SFNE Online yesterday published news that Kontiki and Catapult will return for the 2008 season. Link below; http://www.gadv.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=13465 I am personally very happy about this. Catapult is one of my favorite rides at the park, and I didn't get the chance to get my last rides in before the park closed, so I am looking forward to riding it again in 2008. -
Supposedly a commercial for the park's 2008 season advertises 11 coasters, not the 12 they currently have. With these pictures, I guess Thunder Road is the one getting the cut. Strange that they didn't make an announcement (Although this is Cedar Fair we are talking about, so maybe they wanted to do it quietly) and also strange that they are removing it carefully.

Vertigo Park! and Estancia Buga, Colombia
asr replied to JuanSe_Colombia's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If Vertigo Force is as insane as it sounds, it has a good chance to be one of the world's top ranked coasters provided that enough enthusiasts get to the park and ride it. 4 KM would be around a whopping 15000 feet long I believe, nearly twice Steel Dragon 2000's length. Hopefully working it along the terrain and having plenty of big drops on the mountains will allow it to keep up a decent speed throughout the ride.
