  1. From a purely academic standpoint, Michigan has OSU whipped. There's really no debate there. Just be happy you can beat them in football.
  2. I don't like Disney's on-property transportation much either. It sucks if you're doing a lot of park hopping, going to Typhoon Lagoon or Downtown Disney, having late meals at resort restaurants, etc. There are all kinds of situations where it fails big time. The only Disney transport we used consistently was the boat service to the Magic Kingdom. That was great.
  3. Not really. I didn't like his superior tone and flimsy points. Had he made stronger points in a non-douchey tone, I would have had no problem with him. I read Slate.com nearly every day, and this piece is way below their normal level of quality. As for Disney's near universal acclaim, maybe there's something to that. They didn't become the undisputed king of the theme park business by sucking.
  4. Wow. They need to fix that. When I rode Goliath last year the trims after the helix were on, but barely did anything to the train. The return run had gobs of airtime. In fact, Goliath had by far the MOST airtime of any hyper I've been on. I still liked Nitro better, but Goliath was great also. If they don't fix that, Goliath should go out of the top 10 this year. Nothing says lame more than brake raping a $20 million marquee coaster.
  5. Six Flags New England. After getting the two mirror image credits, I'm finally getting the real deal SROS credit. Thank you $80 Skybus plane tickets. I'm just worried that the restraints might take away from the experience. I wasn't fond of them at Darien Lake and SFA. Something about having metal rods jammed up against my shins doesn't give me a warm fuzzy.
  6. Can I please have my 35 seconds back?
  7. Disaster? I sincerely doubt it. We're not technically even in a recession yet and we haven't had the mass waves of lay offs like we had in 2001-2002. I think a lot of places might see flat attendance, but remember that visiting regional theme parks is a very affordable form of recreation. You might see more of that in lieu of bigger and more expensive trips.
  8. Don't worry. He'll be on here complaining about Firehawk downtime before long.
  9. I'm not a fan of horses. One stepped on my foot once. That was not fun. However, I saw some of these Budweiser horses last year at the Ohio State Fair. They're some of the most pristine animals I've ever seen.
  10. He makes the mistake of judging AAs based solely on their 1960s renditions. I noticed that he didn't make disparaging comments about the Yeti, which is just a giant AA. I think, if anything, you'll see more AAs in the future. Robotics technology has really advanced in recent years, as was demonstrated in the robot dog thread that Robb posted. I can't wait to see what Disney will come up with 10 years from now.
  11. That basically summarizes my gripe with the article. He's pretty nasty and elitist in his critique of WDW. I'm not that big on World Showcase either, but his criticism of that amounts to, "Get a passport and go see the real countries you midwest rubes." But World Showcase was never intended to replace going to the actual countries. It's just a different form of entertainment.
  12. I'm going to make a wild guess and say you're probably in your teens or early 20s. I like Indiana Beach quite a bit, but it's hardly a substitute for a Disney park. I think the guy is just a smug idiot grasping for things to gripe about. This article is way below the normal level of quality you'll find on Slate.com. I enjoy Disney parks quite a bit, but am not a Disney fanboy. I have seen maybe 5 or 6 Disney movies tops. And I don't collect their plastic memorabilia. I don't hold Walt Disney on a pedestal, but I found that comparison to L. Ron Hubbard to be nothing short of repulsive.
  13. Does that POS ever work?
  14. I've actually been reading this article as it has been posted to Slate. I'm not impressed. The guy has done a fair amount of research, but then goes on to blow easy details. For example: Wrong. Expedition Everest is not a recreation of Mt. Everest.
  15. It's fine to not like Kennywood, but the comparison to Beech Bend is flat out wrong. Beech Bend is indeed set up like a fair with cheesy portable fencing surrounding many attractions, while Kennywood installs their rides in a more permanent way.
  16. http://www.screamscape.com/html/indiana_beach.htm This is not trivial and is easily the worst move made by the new owners. Nothing beats IB at night. And now IB at night does not exist. This is real proof that the new owners don't know a thing about the park they just bought.
  17. It is, of course, possible that they just didn't properly chlorinate the pool. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/17076938?ordinalpos=3&itool=EntrezSystem2.PEntrez.Pubmed.Pubmed_ResultsPanel.Pubmed_RVDocSum It sounds like this sort of thing is inevitable, but it will be interesting to see what the investigation finds.
  18. Did you really just post "I pirated your movie and it sucks" to this thread? Smooth. Very smooth.
  19. No. We'll never be as cool as you.
  20. Well...it would be creepy to have a collection. My collection is beautiful, not creepy. As an aside, buying other people's on-ride photos might be a good way for Big Mike to get us those bikini pictures he's promised us.
  21. I think this is more pathetic than creepy. It's not like you can track someone down and stalk them based on how they look in a crappy on-ride photo.
  22. ^^So, if I'm reading this correctly this lawsuit was BS because RCCA's insurance policy covered strictly issues surrounding construction of SOB, like workers being injured during construction. The insurance policy was never a warranty guaranteeing the quality of the product. Makes sense. Doe anyone more legally inclined, aka Allan, care to interject?
  23. Congrats. Glad this worked out for you.
  24. I think it's probably a pretty good place for a young person to work. Most of the checks are probably pretty large and people often tip well when they're on vacation. What's funny is at least one of their servers wasn't even from Canada.
  25. Why would I want to visit a park outside Ohio when Cedar Point is rated the #1 park in the world? Even though Cedar Point closes their rides for half the day every time a single drop of water hits the midway, it's worth it for the privilege of visiting such a wonderful park.
