  1. He ate a virtually vegetarian diet, because his gf is a vegan chef. Going from vegetarian to McDonalds 3 times a day is a bit of a shock to the old system. In as far as I recall, he eliminated his exercise, walking 5 miles per day, because this would make him more like "an average american". This only served to invalidate his fake experiment. Change one thing at a time.
  2. I found Super Size Me to be a moderately entertaining film. But, Morgan Spurlock cheated in it. He did two things simultaneously: 1) Radically changed his diet from being virtually vegetarian to eating McDonald's 3 times per day. 2) Drastically reduced his exercise. This made his already questionable pseudoexperiment completely bogus. He should have only changed his diet. In Science you only manipulate one variable at a time. Otherwise, it's impossible to pinpoint what causes the observed changes.
  3. But placing restrictions on which flags I fly, requiring me to fly an American flag alongside a foreign one is most certainly unconstitutional. That's all I was saying. I don't personally see a need to pass any laws regarding language. English is already the de facto language, and it's at your own peril to not know it. Making it de jure seems unnecessary, and would be a very French thing to do. Do you think we should go as far as Quebec, and have the language police measuring signage to ensure English words are in larger print than Spanish ones? Should we fine magazines for printing Spanish words where there is a full English equivalent? In many countries it is illegal to fly another flag. I for one tink that yes, if you choose to live in America, you should at least show the courtesy to the country in which you live to fly it alongside whatever other flag you choose. Look, we might not all agrre with some things our country does... but it is where we live. If and when i move to Europe as I plan... I will not be as arrogant as to fly an American flag. I will fly the flag of the country in which i live. What is polite and what you have the right to do are distinct entities. I for one believe that I have a fundamental, inalienable right to fly whatever flag I choose, or to not fly one at all. That's called "freedom of expression". Thankfully, the Constitution agrees with me on this.

  5. wow, honestly... thats one of the stupidest statements i have ever heard. If you are going to move to a country... legally or illegally (though i'm all for booting out the illegal ones) then you should at least make the effort to learn the language first... the politically correct dancing around about this is gonna be what helps drive this country further into the socio-economic crapper. What crapper is that? Largest economy in the world. Hell, California alone is the 5th largest economy in the world.
  6. Who is the government to tell me which flags I shall or shall not fly? This is an Unconstitutional law anyway. It won't hold up if challenged in court.
  7. Nice pics. Doesn't Gravity Group have a booth? That shirt and tie have got to go. You look like you work at a funeral home in that stuff.
  8. What do you mean bring back? I have already caught a lot of crap on it, but I think that Coney can be saved without being rezoned as a residential entity. Many of the people in New York look at the outside world a lot differently and don't travel too much outside of the five buroughs. Turn Coney into a real draw and you would be surprised how many people will flow into that new Subway station right across the street. Keep the Multiplexes and Starbucks in Manhattan! I agree that NYC might be an exception, and I'd certainly like to see Coney rebuilt. The way of the world, however, these days is to just build more luxury condos. I don't think the idea of turning it into a nightclubish area with some amusements thrown in is such a bad idea. It beats turning it into condos, especially if they can put in a few new coasters.
  9. With property values being what they are, I imagine that if Coney is redeveloped that it will be basically a residential project. Urban amusement parks are, sadly, a relic of 80 years ago. While I believe you that nothing gets done in NY state, doesn't NYC have a more-or-less competent mayor now? If they do get a new coaster, I'd really hope it's a woodie. Installing a big steel coaster there just wouldn't seem right. Maybe they could even bring back the prostitutes and freak shows!
  10. There went my GPA for this semester. Thanks guys! The Ice Bartender looks suspiciously like the chick from the Liseberg Add-On video, the one that was serving the alcohol. Is that the same chick, or do all women in Sweden look like that? If it's the latter, I'm expatriating.
  11. I felt the same way towards Holiday World. Pre-voyage I left fairly kind of "meh" about the park. I had a good time, but wasn't really blown away. I never went to HW pre-Voyage. But, I have thought about what the park would be like without it. I think Voyage really makes the park. You've got 3 world class woodies, a nice waterpark, a decent rapids ride, a slightly crappy log flume with a funish pitch black tunnel, bumper cars, a double shot, and reasonably priced games and food. It's not a massive park, but it does make for a nice day trip for me (only 3 hours away). Give them 5 years. If they keep this momentum, it'll be a really nice park.
  12. Umm, Chipotle > Baja Fresh > Moe's. Sorry, just giving you the facts. I've never had Baja Fresh. But, I do agree that Chipotle totally owns Moe's. Chipotle has better food, and they don't annoyingly shout: WELCOME TO MOE'S WTF is with that? Seriously, that's straight out Office Space and 27 pieces of flair. I'm sure some idiot manager somewhere thinks it's cute. Well, it's not. Stop with the retard gimmicks and make some better food.
  13. The last time I went to Ikea it wound up taking me 5 hours to assemble the TV cabinet that I bought. 5 hours!!!!!!
  14. The thing I find interesting about this thread is how different people can have completely different experiences on the exact same ride. I think this really illustrates how all coasters can really vary in the ride experience from ride to ride. I've heard so many people bash Gwazi, but when I rode both sides last month it was absolutely FINE. I even liked it a bit, and I hate rough rides.
  15. I'm pretty torn on this. I had to go with hyper, but invert is a very close second. The only B&M hyper I've ridden is Raging Bull, not the most popular one. But, I got two back seat rides in the rain last August. Those were some of the most kick ass rides I've ever had. That was the best first drop I've ever encountered, more like a straight freefall than anything else. The airtime was intense on every hill, and even the MCBR did nothing to slow that monster down. Maybe it was the rain. I love B&M inverts, but ultimately I have to go with airtime as king.
  16. With their current financial crisis, I can't imagine they'll get anything all that good. Isn't there a moratorium on large orders for now? Most of the parks aren't wanting for rides, they're just wanting for an atmosphere that doesn't closely mimic the savagery of high school hallways between classes. How about investing in a park that really needs some help, like SFKK? A B&M invert would surely do that place some good.
  17. IB has HW beat for flat rides. But, HW has IB whipped in coasters. The only spectacular coaster there is Cornball. Tig'rr is decent, but the other three are pretty meh. HW's water park also completely destroys that nasty IB one. I wouldn't think of going into that filthy-looking water. I still really like both parks. Also, I'm not quite sure why "good use of space" is even a concern. Shouldn't the consideration be how good the rides are? I mean it's neat how IB has shoehorned all those rides into a tiny amount of space, but it's not exactly a selling point for the park as a whole. Have you ever told your friends, "Hey, I know of this great amusement park in Indiana. They really use space well."
  18. IB ride ops are pretty atrocious. But, they have great grilled cheese sandwiches there. What else do you want from a park?
  19. While I agree that Six Flags sells their season passes too cheaply, their regular admission prices are NOT too low. As for getting a raise after jabbering about sacrifices, that's how you know he's a CEO.
  20. Adding the Griffon trains would also increase the capacity of each train from 24 to 30 riders, a 25% increase in capacity. That seems like a good thing to me. Also the edge seats will be hanging even further out in the air, which should make it a lot scarier, especially if they extended the hang over the first drop by a few more seconds. Fixing up Gwazi would probably be a better idea, but we all know how much of a priority woodie maintenance is to corporate parks. A lot of GP still believe that rough is the norm for wood. I don't see a downside here though. Busch is going to improve Sheikra, even if only slightly. Who cares if it doesn't make good business sense? Busch parks are backed by a $36 billion parent company. They're not going away. A bad move or two won't affect them significantly.
  21. I don't think it's such a bad idea. Sheikra is really missing something. It's by far the weakest B&M in BGA. Maybe they negotiated it with the purchase of Griffon. I imagine if they do it, it'll be using the same 10 across trains that Griffon will use. Busch is hardly poor. If this was their original vision for the ride, why not do it? Disney spent $100 million on Expedition Everest. That seems a lot more out there to me.
  22. I keep all my old gfs in a cage in the basement, just like Borat does. They have to be on good terms with me, or I don't feed them.
  23. Nein. That man has children and grandchildren, which makes him "fit" according to Biology. According to Biology, the fittest are just the members of the population that breed the most. So, if you have 12 kids and get killed by the WDW tram you are more fit than a Nobel Laureate with no kids, because you have contributed more to the gene pool.
  24. My drives to both school and work take under 10 minutes. I'll *never* have hour long commutes. That's like against my religion and stuff, the religion of no commutes. I used to be able to walk 2 minutes to work, but I subsequently moved out of downtown. Walking to work is nice. I want to do that again. I'm getting ready to apply to professional school next year, and one of my main things is being able to live near school. This rules bigger cities like Chicago and NY out.
  25. My favorite Sushi is any dipped in soy sauce with enough wasabi in it to double as mace. I love that rush of blood to your face you get when you start wincing from a massive wasabi overload. Mmmmmm. Maybe I'm just a wasabi addict. My favorite sushis are tuna and salmon. Boring perhaps, but I love 'em.
