  1. Your best bet is to call guest relations and see if they'll give up some info on which days are historically the least crowded.
  2. Dollywood has a very inexpensive q-bot style system. That might help you out on a crowded day.
  3. I rode your mom in her inaugural season.
  4. You're basically in a no-win situation here. Evolution, to a creationist, isn't real because you can't directly observe speciation. Of course, to want to directly observe a process that takes tens of thousands of years is an absurd standard. Creation, of course, isn't held to this same insane standard.
  5. This thread keeps crashing my IE, and Firefox doesn't support that video applet.
  6. How about 10 hours on a round up? That would be a feat.
  7. Oh I'm sorry, I thought she was your mum! Cameron (Nothing like some 4th grade humor) Silver.. Oh snap!
  8. Fatties need lovin' too.
  9. Hey, stop making fun of my wife like that! She's a real Kentucky rumbler.
  10. Does this mean that a thread about midget porn is out?
  11. The so-called infallible nature of Creationism is one major reason why it is not science, and should never be taught in a science class. That's really my only beef with Creationism- how people who have basically zero science background try to use political muscle to force it into the classroom as science.
  12. I could make neither heads nor tails of this message. You might want to clean up your spelling, and use spacing.
  13. I always play that song when I do my illusions.
  14. I think I'm going to make that grunting sound that Sandor made whenever I get stapled now. I did a little reading about why negative-g forces are more dangerous than positive-g forces. Essentially, negative-g forces push blood into the head, and can cause blood vessels inside the cranium to rupture. Intracranial bleeding is obviously very bad.
  15. A lot of creationists try to skate around this issue by claiming that they believe in microevolution, but not macroevolution. This, of course, is a pretty silly position because if you accept microevolution then you really need to also accept macroevolution. Macroevolution is just a lot of microevolution over time. This is not a far fetched concept if you have a moderate understanding of basic Biology.
  16. I've been getting a ton of stapling this year. Are operators trained to do this nonsense? It's like they're told to jump up and down on the restraints until the rider gets internal bleeding. On my first Maverick ride yesterday they checked the restraints 3 times, and pushed mine down further each time. What's the point of this anyway? Stapling isn't any safer than putting the bar down to the correct position. It just hurts more.
  17. I had the privilege of getting two rides in the front seat on Maverick yesterday. Wow! Maverick is such a great coaster. The first half before the tunnel is just a blur of craziness that I still haven't unraveled in my mind. The first drop is intense, and the airtime is pretty good. The launch was surprisingly forceful, but it's sadly trimmed down a bit on the hill coming out of the tunnel. I think it's easily the best coaster in Ohio. Millennium Force, to me, just goes really fast and doesn't do anything. Maverick, on the other hand, does everything, and it does it all in such rapid-fire succession that you just don't know what hit you. I have three complaints that prevent Maverick from being the perfect coaster: 1) The lack of the heartline roll. This really would have been the perfect finale. I hope they fix this in the off season, but I'm not holding my breath. 2) The trims coming out of the tunnel after the launch. This was disappointing because the launch is surprisingly forceful. But, the launch giveth, while the trims taketh away. It seems like they wouldn't have needed the trims if they had correctly banked that turn out over the water. Oh well. Long story short is that the first half of Maverick is the meat of the ride, while the second half doesn't quite measure up to the excellence of the opening. 3) The restraints aren't the greatest. Can't Intamin figure out a better lap bar that will be safe with inversions? Seriously, OTSRs just suck. The wife whined about this. I didn't have much problem with head banging, but I'm a lot taller than she is and I moved correctly with the ride.
  18. Well, new outlets have their own interests in mind. Fox News is interested in increasing ratings, which brings in more ad revenue. Sensational stories are a surefire way to increase viewership. The old school term for this is "yellow journalism". So, yes the news does have financial incentives to scare you.
  19. Statistical studies don't prove. Only mathematical theorems can be proven. Either the data supports the hypothesis, or it does not. Prove is too strong of a word. BTW, you do raise a valid point. Any TV news outlet would do exactly what Fox News did with Robb. Actually, in my direct experience, print news loves to spin just as much.
  20. Big dipper has awful trains that are fashioned for midgets. My legs don't fit in right, and I'm only ~6'2". If they'd install some PTCs and do a little track work, Big Dipper could be a pretty neat little ride. There aren't too many John Miller coasters left. I say preserve it. And junk Raging Wolf Bobs!
  21. Did you not fit into the car very well? I'm pretty thin, and I think that ride is very smooth. The only rough spot is the brake run, but they have an op there to warn you that your gut is about to be busted. The drops on Wildcat are insane. It's like driving a truck off a cliff.
  22. Thanks for the pictures! It would be even funnier if this Yugo of a coaster managed to get stuck while descending the first drop.
  23. I wonder if this is something dumb like maybe the cables have never been changed since they installed the ride in 1995.
  24. Yeah, I imagine they aircared her to the nearest Level 1 trauma center, and went straight into the OR. So, it really shouldn't matter where in the park the accident took place. They can just land the chopper right next to the ride. I imagine medics had to immediately apply tourniquets to prevent this poor girl from bleeding to death.
  25. Six Flags is on a roll this week. First they try to crush KidTums, and now they manage to sever appendages. I really hope that the orthopedic surgeons can re-attach this girl's feet.
