They're all like that in the US an Canada, apart from a few, like the Ex, Capital Ex[Formerly known as Klondike Days] and the Calgary Stampede. www.capitalex.ca www.CalgaryStampede.com [Who hasn't heard of this, people come to Calgary on horseback from the US just to go to the Stampede! www.theex.com OH AWESOME! I'm excited about the Stampede now, on their site they have the StarFlyer listed as one of their new attractions this year! -
You are so sadistic. You do notice something, in Europe and North America, we are not accustomed to that sort of lifestyle, we were not raised that way, and what would seem like slight pain from people in third world countries is magnified here. Personally, I think you were looking at the third world countries as an excuse for getting out of your statement. They have nothing to do with someone crying out in pain. If someone is hurt, and crying, you don't look at them with dismay just because you think what happened isn't worth the tears- you help them, no matter where you are. It's not a challenge, it's a pointless restriction. Not screaming on a ride doesn't add to the excitement, sometimes the shouts and cheers of the riders are what makes them fun, the amusement park atmosphere. If you went to an amusement park and nobody was screaming, or shouting, would you think anybody was having fun? No. All it's going to do is make the ride lose business, it's not going to accomplish anything for the park, except a few locals won't complain. The park is losing money. It's just a bad idea overall, and the comment you made is pretty bad, no matter how you relate it to anything else.

You don't like people who cry when they get HURT? What kind of sadistic person ARE you? Go get someone to saw your foot off, then tell me you don't cry, that's the most disgusting comment I've seen on this website. How can you get mad at someone for screaming, all it is is just a NATURAL human reaction to excitement, or being scared. If you scream, you scream, it's not like you can just prevent your body from giving you the flight or fight instinct, it's something you can't control. But your crying comment, that's just showing your bigheadedness. Even if that's true, don't say it in a public place, you're just making yourself look like a big shot, you can't tell me that you've never cried from being hurt.

The coaster is by Pate from the Atari Forums. Edit: And by the way, Pate released a new version of the ride. -

You are highly mistaken. Coastersims is where you go to get criticized even if you have the most amazing coaster. No I'm not, I have no idea what you're talking about. If you call a 6 a bad rating, you're wrong. a 5 is average, a 6 is ABOVE average, and even a five isn't *that* bad. The "Most Amazing Coasters" get fantastic rates there, look at "Kamikaze" by drummer, 8.5's-9's! I stand by my argument that people rate way too high there, it's Atari Forums, even the worst parks ever are said to be nice... -

5 G's is not bad... as long as they aren't sustained for more than about half a second, they're perfectly safe. 1. It shouldn't have to be bigger, the loop now is off in shaping, but look at real Eurofighter loops, the train goes fast through them. The loops on Eurofighters are more like Schwarzkopf loops than anything, and a lot of Gerstlauer employees are from the Schwarzkopf company anyway. 2. Not all Gerstlauer Eurofighters do that, look at Rage! Gerstlauer supports vary, and now because of the tri-track, they are less needed. The tri-track is unavailable in NoLimits.. so he can't place it there, catch my logic? 3. Look at real Gerstlauer lift hills, what are you talking about? That hill is fairly accurate, look at Speed: No Limits. If the track had a tighter entry to the over vertical section, it would cause way too much airtime. It could be tightened slightly, but it is somewhat accurate in it's current form, enough that a dock isn't needed. Take a look at this picture of Speed: No Limits in it's No Limits form. I agree that the bottom radius of the drop should be tighter though, it looks to pull about 2-ish positives at the moment haha. Source: http://www.rcdb.com/ig2721.htm?picture=1 and www.gerstlauer-rides.com [Gerstlauer GmbH] 4. Speed: No Limits has five.. I agree that there are slightly too many, but he only needs to remove a few. And above, don't need to snap at me man, you never said you weren't done them, and I was just trying to help, don't take it as an offense... -

Eurofighters are extremely intense if that's what you mean... But, as for the supports on the loop, they look like you got lazy with them. Look at the supports on real Eurofighters, apart from the lift- they look nothing like them. On the hill, the supports join right at the underside of the hill, like this on your ride: This isn't very realistic, the supports need an area to join at the track, and plus, it just looks bad. Your supports should look more like this: It's still not very Gerstlauer, but you catch my drift right? Feel honored, I made both those supports just to show you this, I don't do that often. -

Very... "Non Gerstlauer." Look at the shaping of the inversions on real Eurofighters like Rage and Speed, your's is significantly off. Keep trying, you'll get it. -

Umm... I think it went the other way around No, I did not name it after the song, I named it after the Tecmo arcade game... -

I hate the song, but I chose it because if it's relation to the name of the coaster. Yeah, but I added echo and increased the pitch to make it seem more "Techy Machine." -
Did you follow what I told you to? Use a straight segment and divide it into eight segments, them put relative roll and continuous roll on every single node that is part of the roll. Then, bank the nodes in the following order: 0, 15, 35, 55, 75, 75, 55, 35, 15. Then, black the roll and make the first segment red, and the last segment green. Run it through the AHG and you'll get a near perfect heartline roll- if not perfect entirely. Thought I'd detail it a bit more if people were confused, it's pretty simple though. And by the way, I'll show you what BTF is saying. When you look at loops in real life, they are shaped like this: Source: http://www.rcdb.com/ig760.htm?picture=3 And Source: http://www.latincoasters.com/ Notice how the lower section of the loop has a much higher radius than the top? This prevents high positive G's, because, in a vertical loop as you have shown here, would need a slower speed to prevent vertical forces, but if you have the train going fast enough to make it through, it will pull very high G's. With a Clothoid, [the loop shown above] the train can be going through the loop at a much higher speed, without all the forces. Thought I'd point that out for you.

Redneck Coaster
Calaway Park replied to NorCalEMT02's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Firstly, that's a perfectly safe ride at a real amusement park. It's a modified JCB tractor, the park is called Diggerland, and they have a website with an extremely annoying theme song. www.diggerland.com , and by the way, ebaum took that from Break.com Secondly, how in the world is this a coaster by any stretch of the imagination? No, it would not count as a credit.. it's a flat ride, not a coaster... You find a lift, some track, a train, and I'll eat my words. -
The future of insanity- the new definition of thrill. Beyond vertical- beyond extreme. Epic: The Ultimate Evolution. Current Progress: The layout is still un-banked, but you get the general idea. Fun looking, hey? PS: This ride so far has been completely constructed with HSAK and Purgatorium apart from some of the lift. Hope you enjoy the screenshots, and look for updates soon!

You need to mention the shift though, to make the loop look like a "Z." The loop you show here isn't very "Clothoid." The loop I'll tell you about here will leave you with a more B&M shaped loop. Step one, make sure you have: AHG, Elementary and the HSAK formula, and the Purgatorium. Start by entering the Elementary program, and opening the HSAK formula by clicking "advanced" and then clicking "formula imput." Find the HSAK formula and double click it. It may appear sort of.. "uh oh." But bare with me. It's easier than it looks. Start by setting the radius to half the height in meters you want your loop to be. Then, next, place the value "360" in the "cangle" area. This will make your loop a sort of helix. Then, go to the "Slope A and Slope B" areas and enter a value of about 5. larger values make corkscrews. After doing this, if you want to make your loop a clothoid, to prevent insane positive G forces, go ahead and enter about 15 in the "zerz" area. This will cause the top of the loop to have a tighter radius than the bottom, keeping forces relatively equal throughout the loop. Open the Purgatorium. Click the "Prefabs" tab, and then click open initial. Open the element you saved in elementary, and then enter the following. In the "Z axis by:" area, put 90 in the SECOND box labeled "d." Then, go to the "Postprocess" box and check the flat box, then make sure it's set to Y-in. After that, then check Cor ZX-By First Handle, also in the "Postprocess" box. Then, hit "Purgatorium!" After that, there's your loop! Usually on handbuilt tracks, you make the lead in on your own, but with this, you can make your own lead in. If you need to know that, just PM me and I'll tell you how.
-
For a PERFECT vertical loop, you have a much better chance at using the HSAK and the Purgatorium for it, if you want a tutorial for making them, just ask me and I'll give it to you through the PM system. For the barrel rolls, just create a straight track and divide it into 8 segments or nine nodes. then, bank them all with relative roll in this order: 0, 15, 35, 55, 75, 75, 55, 35, 15. With relative roll, this should turn into a complete unheartlined 360 degree roll. Make sure you make the first segment red, so that when you heartline it, the banking from what was before it smoothly enters the roll. Then, make the all segments black except the last one, which you should make green. Then, run it through the AHG. You'll get a near perfect heartline roll. You can use the same principle on 0-G's, just make the crest of a hill and divide it as I have stated. It's easier to just make a parabola in elementary and force it to 8 segments though, then they are perfectly spaced and it works better, even though they turn out nearly perfect every time even without elementary.

Sonic and Mario together, in a game, finally.
Calaway Park replied to Homer's topic in Random, Random, Random
Secret Rings is a step in the right direction but it's still very flawed. Hopefully it marks a turning point for Sonic Team because I'd really like to see Sonic get closer to his 2D glory days. If we see more games like Sonic Rush I'll be very happy. In a recent interview Sega of America president Simon Jeffery said, "We are actually undergoing a fairly considerable refresh of Sonic as an intellectual property, as a character. Sonic on the Wii is probably the first product that's come to market that reflects that. We're not going to be bringing another game out on the other platforms for quite some time, because we feel that it is time to reinvent Sonic, to make Sonic contemporary again." I think he's on the right track. Hopefully a couple of years down the line we'll see Sonic come back in a big way. I disagree, I adore that game, flaws, bah. -
