The Official TPR "East Coast/Behemoth Trip" Update
DenDen replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I am totally looking for my Dragon Mountain pics from my trip when I was 14!!!! WOW, the trees really filled in, but gosh, they are SLOW in everything else. Always wondered what all that scafolding was. By the time they're done, they'll build a Morgan to replace half of it. Loved this last trip report, KT is just wracking up credits! She'll pass me soon. lol Dennis "still hasn't riden Dania Beach Hurricane after 7 years" -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
DenDen replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kennywood in its history was infamous for "standing their ground" on new operation ideas, and for rejecting the season pass idea (and the ride-all-day concept 30 years ago) for years, stating it didn't want to be baby sitter for McKeesport High School. But as times change, all these "Hell would have to freeze over" promises of keeping the park running the same year after year have been broken. Another example: Kennywood used to preach that it would NEVER be open after Labor Day. As well all know, that was broken the year Kennywood held a "make-up picnic day/Kennycon" one year because of extreme in-climate weather. (I think that was either 1990, or 91!) The golden tickets we had said something along the lines of "The first, and only time we're open after Labor Day, be part of history". PPP blew that idea away. Give it a couple years, they'll get q-bots next. LOL -

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
DenDen replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
OMFG! As a Kennywood Alumni, I'm am FREAKING over this news, but at the same time, with it's new owner, I kind of expected this. Looking back, it took them years to adopt a pay-one-price admission when all the surrounding parks were doing it. And when they started, it was only one day a week, Sundays. Ride-All-Day admission was $8 for groups, and $10 individually. Ahh, the memories. -

How old is *too* old to ride The Voyage?
DenDen replied to Raven Maven's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This story reminds me of my grandmother riding the LaserLoop at Kennywood. So classic!!!!!! -
This argument has gone on since the days of rec.roller.coaster. (if you don't know what that is, then you should be shot, hehehehe!) Anyway, I call it a coaster, it has a "form" of lift, and has one undulating hill. Though be it the most uneventful, it's a coaster. Wikipedia has a great definition of a roller coaster, and can be found @ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roller_coaster This fits the definition. P.S. my apologies, I'm drunk. hehehehehehee

Wow, this is one of my all-time favorite flats! (And not because of obvious reasons. hehehe) I kinda doubt this was a design flaw issue. Huss Rainbows have been around for a long time, and the numerous portable ones out there that don't look so well taken care of would have been colapsing a long time ago if this were the case. If they took over a new flawed design, how many of these are out there? Don't think there are many, at least not in the States, there aren't that many left. -
The Official "TPR Europe Trip 2008" Thread!
DenDen replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
If I would have known there was an open bar, I would have gone on this trip! LOL -
Can you say "modern slavery"? Not only does this situation need to be remedied, but heck, compensate these kids for having to put up with it. If these were American kids, and it got this kind of media attention, they would give them $omething, or else they would end up in a lawsuit. They know these workers can't easily sue. Do the right thing KI, or take your new coaster and shove it!

Getting drunk in a martini bar!

Because the media jumps the gun and reports the first thing they hear as fact, without investigating it. I'm sure "just a cop" on scene gave bad info, and instead on waiting on a spokesperson for the police to make a statement, they report it "to report the story first" no matter if it's wrong or right. Every city has at least one channel that reports news in this fashion. Unfortunately, it's the public that created this market of tabloid news reporting.

Need "first coaster" suggestion for paranoid noob
DenDen replied to DCody's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dump him! Seriously, I won't date anyone that can't get on a rollercoaster without drama. But other than that, Montezooma is good, a shuttle loop is what got me addicted. -
I have a feeling the lawsuit will involve suing the church. Any group outings to amusement parks I've ever been to as a child involved a parent's signature for permission, and as an adult, required a signature for insurance purposes. (And probably niether happened here, I will reserve my comments as to why!) If anything, this may change how groups such as churches, schools, etc. can take these trips. They can seriously argue that the church was responsible for adult supervision of their kids. And technically, they'd be right.

Awesome find! Gotta love the power of the internets these days. An enthusiast from England finds the history of an obscure permanent-SBNO in the US. -

I use both. IE7 for general browsing, and Firefox for web development. Firefox's java is MUCH faster than IE's, but IE displays more pages better, since it "assumes" mistakes in an HTML environment, and corrects them. Probably one of the biggest setbacks of "standards compliance" is that web sites and their designers and developers aren't perfect. Web browsers that brag this "compliance" show everyone's mistakes. IE on the other hand corrects them without much notice or error. Will have to check out FF3 now!
