  1. I'm not one to want to travel the world, but this is one of the things I wanna do before I die. German Fairs are just awesome. Thanks for sharing.
  2. ^The flywheel versions were soooo much better. My favorite was the LaserLoop at KW, but the only other two I've ridden is MR at Knotts and the above mentioned as Shockwave. LaserLoop
  3. looks like underground wire marking to me.
  4. Good luck everyone. There were soooo many good ones this time around, glad that one of my votes went to the (current) #1.
  5. All I can say is wow! Scott and Shane are the amusement park gawds! Awesome update Scott!
  6. Odd little tidbit, the original plans for that straight-away was that Morgan was going to put a bunny-hopper in there, but then it was scrapped, noting that the speed would be reduced, and KW didn't want that. Wonder if they're actually going to put this in after all, since the speed wars are pretty much over in this type of a coaster. Just a thought.
  7. Gee, my entry just blows comapred to all of these. My personal favorite is Robb on The Bob.
  8. My Entry... So terrifying to any woman or man.... Captured in a horrifying ride.... It can only be called.... VAGINA DROP
  9. Nat! I just read this entire trip report from the beginning. As always, awesome stuff! You're one of the best PTRers here! So entertaining! NERD TRIVIA: Anyone know where the indoor catapillar at Del Grosso's came from?
  10. Wow, you have such an awesome collection. To quote Britney... Gimme Gimme MORE, Gimme, Gimme Gimme!
  11. OMFG! This is awesome! This is what I love about TPR, you just never know where you'll find people that are here. Good Going Mike!!!!!!
  12. LMAO! I've seen that "music video" before, but it was very degraded. This is an excellent copy, now embeded in the history of the internet, and our minds, FOREVER!
  13. This was a great substitute for missing my Sordid Lives this week! SDL in it's original glory... beautiful! THANK YOU SHANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait for the next installment.
  14. I have so many opinions on this topic, I dunno where to begin. I'm actually happy that I don't live there anymore, since everything that had attracted me to the city is now gone. Circus Circus created the family niche and mastered it. Nobody will ever compete with it, and these days, nobody wants to anymore after the expensive mistakes of the 90's. (Cough MGM cough). I would actually make the prediction that the Sahara's decision to remove Speed isn't going to be the shocker of the decade. I give it 5 more years max, and New York, NY, and Stratosphere will be right behind them. I'm surprised they all actually lasted this long. The only other casino who's rides will survive is Buffalo Bill's, and that's only because of it's location. I too, don't like the new "yuppy-club" trend of the city, where everything is so cleanly designed to be ultra-modern and sleek. Gimme back the neon and tacky light sequences that cover the facades that made it so unique that you felt like you were in the world's largest carnival.
  15. I personally think they picked great actresses to replace the 2 that left the movie, and are out-doing the movie itself. We go out every thursday to watch it at the bar and make an evening out of it. Makes it a totally different experience. (Especially after a couple drinks. LOL) I just love Sissy!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, back on topic... this is probably my favorite thread on here because everything you share is from the era when I was most into theme parks, just brings back good memories!
  16. OK, now I have one more to add to my list of addictions for the Fall season! -Sordid Lives -Big Bang Theory -Kamikaze shots (Deeeee-licious!) -Shane's Attic! My little phone is just filling up with things to do! Who says the off-season sucks?
  17. Wow! Love this PTR! Those Schwartzkopf classic rides... (sigh). Very neat park, I've never heard of it before. Very COOL!
  18. I can't wait to see the "TPR Take" on China's parks, and the curiosities I'm sure you'll run into. Just DON'T GET ARRESTED!
  19. Again, you guys with the historic coaster lessons are just sheer coaster gods! Love this stuff, and I have a brake lever fetish as well. Brake-men almost never made mistakes. My exposure to them were at West View, Conneaut, Kennywood, Coney Island, Geauga Lake, and Idlewild, and it really does add to the experience for me, it's watching old-world mechanics at work. Damn you Kennywood for putting magnetic brakes on the Jack Rabbit. But at least they still utilize the old skid brakes on Thunderbolt and Racer, and the sound of the old hissing hydraulics that control them is another "characteristic of old technology" that's being lost as well. Dennis
  20. I haven't been to Idlewild in YEARS, great to see it hasn't changed at all. I also like how Kennywood Ent. kept the old rides that no longer fit at Kennwood and put them into Idlewild. (Catapillar was replacement of a model they already had, Tilt-a-whirl, and hopefully they still have the Super Round-up and and some others!)
  21. OK, when I go to Ruth's Chris tonight, my steak will be eaten in honor of PETA! Maybe I'll chew a piece, stick it in an envelope, and send it to them. Sounds like something they would do. Dennis "thinks Pam Anderson is an idiot".
  22. Awesome report. This reminds me of church carnivals back in Pittsburgh, where a church would take over a city block, and just plop everything in the street. But this is on such a massive scale compaired to that. Again, just awesome.
  23. LOL, I smell a new TPR tradition. Just don't poke his eye out, we need his camera skills. To stay on topic, here's a photo of Dragon Mountain from August 1984!
  24. I lived in Hallendale for a short time, and while down there, I passed it almost every day going to FLL. Now that I'm in Pointsettia Heights, and work in a local bar just north of downtown, I never get down that way. BTW, how's that White Party bod coming along?!?!?!? hehehe.
  25. DROOL! Last time I was there, I tried cheese, gravy, and season salt together, it was awesome! But cheese and bacon is still my favorite.
