  1. Did you know that the Peanuts characters started at Kennywood before moving to Cedar Fair?
  2. Oh goodie! There hasn't been one of these in a long time, these are always fun! I like the "X2 effects that didn't make it" idea!
  3. I just don't know what to say, I'm speechless for a change!
  4. In North America. I would assume Scwartzkopf being in Germany, they were the 1st in the world, but I'm sure someone will correct me!
  5. AWESOME trip report. The ONLY thing I wanted to see @ HRP. But why do I have this itch that this is going to be a flop, technology-wise? These mechanisms look so complicated, and the park is already throwing excuses. Are we looking at this generation's WindJammer?
  6. We have 13 locations! http://www.dippindots.com/locations/?q=33305&submit=Find
  7. I personally have no opinion of Disney, since it's really not my thing. (I know, I'm in the minority!) But do enthusiasts complain too much? Sure they do. ESPECIALLY the Disney fanatic groups! But sometimes, parks in general just ask for it by overhyping something stupid.
  8. Can't wait for the voting to begin! Thanks to all that shared their videos, even with criticisms, you all did a great job, and it was entertaining going through all the videos this year! And thanks TPR for doing this! I got my votes ready!
  9. ^As of last year I believe, the trains are still on site. I'm not sure if it was KP connection, or one of the other defunct Kennywood sites, but they had a "back lot tour" and had pics of the trains, covered in dust, but in excellent condition.
  10. I use RSS feeds for posting content on my web site. (ie. I have the Florida Lottery's RSS video podcats on my Florida-based web site.) I personally don't use RSS for reading. The RSS I distribute on my site usually goes out the same way, it ends up on other people's web sites. RSS is a GREAT way to share content to other web sites, and then it directs other people's traffic to you.
  11. I got to ride the Dipper on it's last day of operation! 1983 was when I really started getting into coasters, it really brings back good memories! (Great soundtrack choice, by the way!) We're still waiting for the return of the Dipper, which has been in storage since. Who knows which park it will end up in. (Everyone thought it would end up at Idlewild back then.)
  12. Haha! I think I found the error! Any thread that has an apostrophe in it's title causes the error. Try it. I could have sworn this error happened on another Open Source project I was involved in. hmmmmm.
  13. OMG, what a coincidence! If you see another 6'3" American, his name is Bob. He just text messaged me from there. (Friend of mine!) Thanks for sharing, those ice sculptures look awesome!
  14. Stealing metal for scrap is a HUGE problem here in Florida. Once a week there is a story on the local news. So this really doesn't suprise me. If the track really was curbside, they'll get off.
  15. I miss Kennywood! Waaaaaaaaah! They really did a good job! WOW! I'm impressed!
  16. An awesome utility that does all of these, and more, is called MediaCoder, a free, open source file conversion utility. (There's a couple different versions, but I use the complete version that has both audio and video utilities.) I've been using it for about 4 months now, and love it. The only drawback for some of you, is that it requires the latest FireFox web browser to be installed, since it uses the FF engine for it's interface. http://www.mediacoderhq.com/ This utility has saved my life a few times, I highly recommend it.
  17. It only happens in certain threads. Example: http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=41842 You get the little "error icon" in the lower left of the browser. The screen cap above is just the "full view" of the error, this window doesn't pop up automatically. I haven't found the common denominator as of yet as to what's causing this. The error itself is just referencing a PHP code error of a missing close-paren. It happens a lot with OSS add-ons. Everything on my end is up to date.
  18. I would have to agree! Just another wierd tourist trap.
  19. Hey R&E! Not sure if you're aware of this, but just making sure. Mesaage forums are producing script errors in Internet Explorer when displaying a thread. Nothing that's hindering the functionality as of yet, just something that may cause problems later on. IE7, Vista SP1
  20. OMFG! That starburst commercial always stopped me in my tracks when I was a kid! That was the grandest finale ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful commercials! I swear, I do have a few to add to these ones soon!
  21. Doing a spectrum analysis on the image, it is definitely, scientifically, yellow. YELLOW!
  22. Materhorns swing out, the concept of the older folk scares them, even though I agree with you, kind of the same concept, and in my opinion, a better ride where nobody gets squished! Rest her soul, my grandmother was ALWAYS riding with us at Kennywood up into the 90's. You should have seen her after riding the Laser Loop in 1980, it was pure knee-slapping, pant-soiling histeria!
  23. Most bigger parks (if any at all) don't do the forward/backward cycle for 2 reasons: -capacity (Every ride is 2 cycles, not one!) -family friendliness (Grandma may go forward, she ain't going backward!)
  24. Wow, "family coasters" are getting way too big these days! Not compaining, mind you, this looks like a great ride, love the trains too! Thanks for sharing!
