  1. Construction photos of waterless water parks always look so cool and surreal to me. Oh, and this photo from the previous page is so great I think I may have to put on "Fractal Eternal Wheel" by Ozric Tentacles and stare deeply at it for several long minutes.
  2. Just watched the new rendering posted on the TPR Facebook page. That first outside banked corner taken really slow off the top of the lift just looks like the greatest coaster thing ever.
  3. Agreed. Space Mountain wouldn't be the same without the music. In general Disney usually gets it right, if not just a wee bit sentimental and repetitive at times. I actually had X2 in mind when I typed that. Come to think of it, it's Six Flags on-ride music that most often gets on my nerves.
  4. Time Warp at Canada's Wonderland. I feel slightly nauseous just glancing at it as I walk past.
  5. Too many to count, but the one that stands out was opening season of Top Thrill Dragster. I drove 5.5 hours and then waited in line for 6.5 hours just to ride it once. It seemed worth it at the time, but it's not my intention to ever wait that long in line for a coaster again.
  6. I wouldn't go as far as making it illegal, but I do find in most instances that coaster music tends to be poorly chosen for my personal taste and/or have a displeasingly thin, metallic sound.
  7. every so often I make a return visit to this thread just to see "Peacock at a Truck Stop" It's one of my favorite things ever.
  8. I haven't even seen Avatar and I'm excited about the footprints.
  9. I just love the Control Panel Enthusiast Thread so much. I really do.
  10. Woo Hoooooo, can't wait to give Cannibal a whirl. So pumped visit UTAH this summer!
  11. I might adopt a stray animal just so I can name something "Thunder Honey".
  12. Has anyone else found that the last couple of Tapatalk updates has rendered the app thoroughly confusing? I was using it all the time last year and continued to do so until this past Fall. Somewhere along the line the layout seems to have become too convoluted for me. Or perhaps it's just me. Anyone?
  13. So cool. What a great post. I love seeing photos of parks of that era. And that Haunted Castle looks absolutely bone-chilling, just from the outside.
  14. I've officially added Lagoon to the rough outline of my 2015 summer coaster trip itinerary. This decision does not come without a sacrifice or two, but I feel it's worth it. I just really have to ride this thing.
  15. Amazing TR. Having just 2 weeks ago experienced the parks for the first time myself I can relate to pretty much everything. Although I did find the "without the park its pretty much a given that they wouldn't survive in nature" rather unitentionally hilarious.
  16. I just back from 2 amazing days at WDW. Rather than post a review just yet, I'd prefer to ask a question that has been plaguing me. Due to a series of unfortunate flight mixups and ill-timed flu epidemics I ended up buying 3 more "1-Day with Park Hopper Option" tickets than my group was able to use. I bought the tickets on January 23rd and (at the moment) they are all registered in my name. Does anyone know how soon after purchase Disney 1-Day tickets expire? One unofficial Disney site suggested one year, another said 2030, one said never and the official Disney Ticket FAQ and the receipt/invoice that came with them indicates nothing about expiration. Realistically I won't likely be in Florida again until well after 365 days since their purchase has passed, but it would be nice to at least know what my options area.
  17. Excellent report. I hadn't actually planned on hitting Star Tours, but I think I will now. Thank you.
  18. I've been flip-flopping back and forth about doing exactly that. SOLD! Thanks for the reassurance.
  19. I'm hoping we'll get enough done at EPCOT in the first 3/4 of the day to be able to drive to one of the other parks to close out day 2. I really want to see IllumiNations, which is why we're going to do it day 1. If possible I'd like to end day 2 with Nighttime Spectacular at MK, but I know I'll probably be pushing my luck with the others by that point. In other words, I'm strategically parking the car at EPCOT that day so they'll have no choice but to be dragged back kicking and screaming for IllumiNations. I realise it's entirely selfish, but also the only way that I can ensure I'll get to see it. )
  20. I'll be at WDW next Tuesday and Wednesday (as well). It's my first trip there as an adult and this conversation has pretty much solidified many of the tentative plans I've already made on my own. Here's what I have in mind, so far: The first day we plan on driving to Animal Kingdom and parking just before opening; hitting EE, KS and Dinosaur. From there we'll drive and repark at Hollywood Studios, ride ToT and Rock N' Roller and then grab the car and repark at EPCOT. Once at EPCOT we'll immediately bus it to Magic Kingdom, spend as much time as possible then head back to EPCOT for IllumiNations at 9PM, grab the car and head out. Day 2 will be all EPCOT. If things go well and there's time left in the late afternoon or early evening we'll decide in the moment to head back to one of the previous 3 parks and spontaneously do whatever. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? As the only seasoned theme park enthusiast in a group of newbies it's been entirely left to me to make all of the advanced plans (even though I've not been to WDW in more than 20 years). Oh, and I've already made FastPass+ reservations for the first stop at AK (EE, KS and Dinosaur). Does that even make sense? Maybe my FastPass+ would be better used for Hollywood Studios (TOT/Rock N' Roller)? Thanks!
  21. Loving your report so much. Your timing is wonderful; I leave tomorrow night for Orlando and will be at WDW Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Hurry up and get part 2 posted!!
  22. They're not very manly, but I have a secret fondness for old school Zierer Wave Swingers. I enjoy them so much that I actually enjoy calliope music whilst riding them.
  23. I've been busy with work and neglectful of the Lagoon updates lately. WOW. So much good stuff happening. Easily the most intriguing coaster project of the year.
  24. 7 days from now I'm heading to Florida. My first park of 2015 will be Walt Disney World. This will be my first visit to WDW and all of the Florida parks since I was a child. I'm pretty much freaking out right now.
