Lost Island Waterpark planning Theme Park
jarmor replied to diggerg56's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am rather confused by your reply (especially quoted to my post). No one is saying the park is being cheap or neglectful. Again, I said I loved the fact that they went that route! Just like I loved it when Cedar fair went and got used classic flat rides. Help me understand what you are reading. . . -
Lost Island Waterpark planning Theme Park

I am definitely not knock them for securing the SLC or their business practice. I said I love it. But why can't I be critical about a decision that seems crazy to do, and I am not saying that as an enthusiast as some of you are implying. It's quite shocking (albeit hilarious) the amount of defending an almost 25 year old SLC is getting lol lol. But as it was said, to buy a coaster that is a quick plane ride away to check out is kinda funny. Now I am curious to know how much they paid for these coasters? If only they could have secured some classic flats from europe! -

So this is like the thrift store of theme parks lol. I love it but a shame they had no idea the reputation SLC's had before buying. Makes you wonder if they even involved themselves in coaster forums and groups? -

I am under the impression that means one park in the chain visit per day. LIke, you cant go to carowinds until noon and drive to Kings dominion for the rest of the day. Not you having to pick from SCarowinds at night or carowinds in the day. -

I mean. . . i get it but the park has separate hours listed on it's site for SCarowinds and the regular park. They list seperate tickets for general admission and SCarowinds admission. It also says select nights. That, to me, would make me want to carefully check to see if it is a separated event from the daytime hours. But then again, I can count on one hand the many times I have been to one of the parks that has it all day. -
Does it have airtime? I wonder how much a 15ft tall bare bones coaster with 3 ejector airtime hills will cost lol.

But why would it be down for any scheduled days?!? I thought the point of the rebuild was to make it more reliable? -
I guess I am in the minority but to me it looked like one of those jurassic park/world exhibits that travel around and instead of walking from room to room, you are riding in a cart. Now, the I-rex chasing the vehicle for a short time was kinda cool but i feel what makes me prefer the other jurassic rides over this is the natural setting and light that being outdoors really gives to the overall aesthetic of the rides. I feel spiderman and transformers work because it is fantasy and has fanciful sets that are mostly buildings. With the jurassic version, it looked like the trees were fake and not that tall as they are restricted by building size. It just seemed much more tamed than the other variations. Now, I am not saying it will be a bad ride based off the PIV but I am saying i wouldn't be upset if it never made it to America.

^ Nah, its a smaller Valravn without the dive loop and an added helix. Theoretically speaking, all their trains are custom made to customer specifics be it theme or capacity so I don't see how 7 across would cost any more any other train pound for pound. I am sure they have an array of configuration already designed and waiting for whatever fits the customers needs. SO yeah, while 7 across may cost more than 6, i am sure it's less than 8 and 10 when looking at it barebones.

Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread

If I may chime in for a sec. . . I made my first trip to the park last month. I was pretty impress. Now, the food sucked but the atmosphere, the ride selection and the overall feel of the park was very welcoming to me. I consider myself a person that gets to a lot of parks and have been doing so for some time. I can see how someone who has been going to the park for 10 years could say the park has changed but honestly, what hasn't changed in 10 years? My philosophy is if the good outweighs the bad then i'm good! With growth comes growing pains and I hate to be that person but things could have gotten a lot worst in the last 10 years especially for a family owned park. . . -

Could the water be muddy because it hasn't settled? -
Proof lol? What proof could he provide? It's all speculation and technically since that map is not authentically published by universal then one can say it's fake. Now if it's true or not, that's another situation. I just find it funny when people ask for proof on something being speculated when they couldn't provide counterproof. . . I hope it's not the true line up. While it may be good enough for the locals, I cannot justify the flight from SC for rehashed houses.
