You bringing up eating at Denny's stoned brings back the old college memories! As for Disney, I love Alfredo's at Epcot.

Go 300 to 500k into the hole on a house the day after their marriage. It blows my mind that people think that they need a palace the day they are married. I can only imagine what it must be like in CA. Robb - You need to charge admission to this thread. This is valuable information.

^ You can go anyway with Skyline. I like it on Coneys. Skyline Coneys are 90% cheese though. If your dieting, stay away. Yes Mayfields rules. I also have to agree with your quarter mile driveway comment at the beginning of your thread. Maybe a TR on WalMart when the welfare checks are cut might be in order. That is always entertaining.

It's called Operation Iraqi Freedom. As for myself, I was working in a lab when one of my coworkers turned up the radio, and told us that a plane had hit the WTC. Like mcjaco said, everybody was thinking it might have been a Cessna of something. All I remember was total confusion, especially when Flight 93 crashed. We were released from work that day. I remember the National Guard at the Clays Ferry Bridge on I-75. They were afraid it might be targeted since 75 is a major corridor in the US and taking this bridge out would really hurt us. I'll never forget it.

What Airline do you fly?
mr_teisco_delrey replied to FlippyTrick09's topic in Random, Random, Random
How is it dated? The Next generation (800-900) series is using 787 Dreamliner technology. If your talking about a 737-100 or 200 from the late 1960s, i'd agree. The new 737s are fantastic. And, unlike Airbus, they aren't having to extend terms to airlines to move them. -

Their safety record for one, and the fact they aren't bankrupt with major labor issues. For me, SWA is the best deal here in KY. Delta out of Cinci is a gyp. Very high priced. As for Southwest's fleet, they are only 9 yrs compared to Deltas 13. Southwest is a launch customers for Boeings 8 and 900 series 737s. As for Jetblue, Airbuses don't count as planes. If SWA would bring back the hot pants that would really seal the deal . -
Beech Bend Mini Trip

Yes. To qoute Robb "Now I know what an aneurysm feels like". Any ride that merges a Roundup and a Scrambler will kill. The surprise of the day was the Moby Dick. I loved the drops, and it was fast. -

Us KY hicks love Pepsi. Did you get a load of the weird prices on the food? Oh well. A free Coke park would work for me. -

Finished the day at Mancinos. There are few of these in Kentucky. Darn good pizza, even for a guy from Chicago! For a quick afternoon trip, Beech Bend was a good time. As a side note. It looks like they have put in a little more landscaping since May. I do wish they would bury the power lines to the rides. -
Beech Bend Mini Trip

Beech Bend was a bit slow. The weather was pretty overcast. Other time over the summer, their were more people in the park. I talked to some of the ride ops, and they mentioned that they were swamped over the weekend. I asked if the Rumbler had boosted crowds. They answered yes. Asprin? I thought the prices were a tad bit high. Still less than KY Kingdom though. Free Pepsis would be a plus though Hint hint. Waving at our daughter that was too chicken to ride. The turns were a bit painful though. On to the mouse. Here we are leaving the station. Here is a Signature shot taken from the Flying Bobs. Please wash before you eat or get in the car. These goats are trained to attck you when you enter the petting zoo area. Here are some of the twists. With as twisty as the Rumbler is , it is smooth. Going up and around a turn. The best place to be on this ride is the back. The main event. The Rumbler at the top of the hill. I think the first year has been pretty good to it. It was giving some great rides that day. Very small teacups. It looked so innocent. Wrong! This ride had a bit of a rough landing. I am still trying to figure the dyed blue water thing. Even though it appears this ride has seen better days, it was still fun. -
My wife gave me the choice of yard work or an afternoon on the Kentucky Rumbler. After a millisecond of arm twisting, we were on the Parkway headed to Beech Bend. Pictures below. We saw this as we turned off of the highway to go to the park. A good omen for the rest of the afternoon.

Retro PTR: Six Flags Great America 1991
mr_teisco_delrey replied to Olsor's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I didn't say it is bad. As a coaster destination, I agree, it is a great park. What I am saying is this. When Marriott built Great America, it was a spotless park with great theming. It was as if they were emulating Disney, and doing a great job at it IMO. If Marriott hadn't built the park in the first place SFGAm would be a Six Flags on par with Kentucky Kingdom, or Six Flags America in terms of character. All in all, every time I have been there I have had a great time, though the $.05 root beers at JW's root beer stand is sorely missed. -

Southwest all the way. It'll be even better when they can fly direct to Love Field from states that don't border Texas. Dump the Wright Ammendment. -

Those Turn of the Century shots must be from 78 or 79'. I always remember hitting the hills and flying up into the OTSRs. Real bad if you had sunburn. Even worse if you had a hangover. I wish Marriott had held on to the parks. They were top notch back then. -

EPCOT(Pre dumbing down) I hate to say it, but everytime I visit WDW it gets cheesier and cheesier IMHO. The only reason i'd go to Orlando would be to visit Discovery Cove. That's a park! -

I wonder if Wild Adventures will close if Cypress Gardens closes. I read somewhere in an interview with Kurt Buescher where he said everything was on the line with his investment in Cypress Gardens. If so, there will be a lot of Vekoma and Zamperla getting dumped onto the market at once. I'll try to find the link.
