Yes, it was a dream. I think military personel should be able to drink, regardless of age. -

You are one crafty guy. Penguins (Antarctica) in one shot, and calling the next shot ArcticDerek. That will get them off your path. -
Son of Beast or Beast
mr_teisco_delrey replied to dragsterfan420's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It opened in April of 79'. The opening of the Beast and the "Disco Demolition" at Comiskey Park in Chicago brought an end to the Disco era! I prefer the Beast also. It is a classic, but it really needs a little love. I hope Cedar Fair treats it better than I feel Paramount did. When I rode it this year, it felt like it had really degraded from just two years ago. Shame! -

Montu all the way, followed by Batman at SFGam. The feel of Montu's ride seems to be part of the theming. Great ride! My top 3 inverts Montu Batman Big Bad Wolf -

I rode all 3 last Thursday. No pics. Sorry. The one that kind of concerned me was the Raven. Fun ride no doubt, but a really weird thing happened. After we stopped in the brake run we waited for the next train to pull out so we could unload. While we sat there, I noticed that the car in front of us was at about a 5 degree angle in relation to our car being level. A moment later the car dropped with a thud. Kinda weird like it was coming off the track but not all the way. Has that happened to anyone else. Other than that and the intense heat, I had a great time as always. -
I'm not sure about the technicalities of whether you'd consider it or not. I mean, there's one at the entrance to DAK, so, ummm, maybe I guess. Or not? I don't know. I wouldn't count Rainforest since it is a chain. For that matter you could say Mc Donald's is themepark food since there is one at Epcot. My favorite themepark food is Teppenyaki, and Yakatori at Epcot. I love Japanese food.

WDW 2007 Rates and Packages are out
mr_teisco_delrey replied to methylene's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Point announced they were looking into cutting back prices back in September of 2005. (Source: http://www.thrillnetwork.com/stories_view.php/1219/cedar_point_lowering_ticket_prices.html) This was well in advance of Cedar Fair purchasing Paramount Parks. The price drops at Cedar Point were directly attributed to declining attendance (3.2 mil in 2004, down 3%. 3.1 mil in 2005, down 3%) by Dick Kinzel. He was even quoted in saying they had outpriced their market. It wasn't a big middle finger, it was necessary because their numbers and revenue were declining. Disney, on the other hand, has obviously not outpriced their market. Magic Kingdom attendance: 2003: 14 million 2004: 15.2 million (up 8%) 2005: 16.2 million (up 6.5%) EPCOT attendance: 2003: 8.6 million (up 4%) 2004: 9.4 million (up 9%) 2005: 9.9 million (up 5.5%) Disney-MGM Studios 2003: 7.8 million 2004: 8.3 million (up 5%) 2005: 8.6 million (up 6%) Animal Kingdom: 2003: 7.3 million 2004: 7.8 million (up 7%) 2005: 8.2 million (up 5%) Disney has raised admission prices $15 since 2003 and has continually posted some of the theme parks industry's biggest attendance gains. They have not outpriced their market. They are a global vacation destination. Not one Cedar Fair park is that. Cedar Point may be the most visible/recognizable regional theme park resort in the world, but it does not have the global staying power of Disney. For those who save money by spending vacations other places besides Disney, good for you (seriously). But remember, you are in the very, very small minority. Just because you have friends/family that do the same thing does not make it the majority. They are increasing their marketing, trying to entice people to try something new. Look at Cedar Point compared to Disney, though. Cedar Point has three (I believe) hotels, a campground, one amusement park and one waterpark. That's all there is to do there. Walt Disney World has over a dozen hotels, four theme parks, three water parks, golf course, Downtown Disney, etc. For most people, Disney World is a complete vacation destination. You could spend a week there easy and never do the same thing twice. You can't do that at Cedar Point in three days. -Bryan "the numbers simply don't lie" Wood I wonder how much of that attendance increase was people from overseas taking advantage of favorable exchange rates. Also, with exception of IOA didn't all the Fla parks have an uptick in attendance? If gas prices keep going up, I wonder what attendance will be in 08 and 09? just my $.02 -
I love you too, sweetheart. I saw your comments in the 2007 Disney packages thread. I couldn't agree with you more. In addition to gas, lets not for mortage rates, and wee bit of inflation. I think it will be a flat ride for Thanksgiving. Time to fill out the new area. To jamesdillaman - I'm sure there is plenty of cash in the bank. It's not like they're doing a multi billion dollar buyout. These folks do business the old fashioned way. They aren't afraid to put their own elbow grease into the mix, and they aren't greedy. Going to HW Thurs. TR with a sick twist to follow.

I remember when the Demon was called Turn of the Century. Instead of the loops, there were hills. Lord help you if you had sunburned shoulders. That, or osteoporosis in you shoulders. Ouch!! Whizzer was my favorite ride growing up. The turn at the bottom of the second hill kicked butt.
