  1. ^ I guess you're right. It makes sense though because I'm doing horrible in the class and me graduating depends on me passing this class.
  2. Though I'm really disliking this marketing class I'm taking we learned something called cannibalization where if a new product is introduced what percentage of sales will the new product take away from the existing ones. That makes me think about Cedar Fair and what Kings Island is doing to Cedar Point. I understand they were monopolizing Ohio, but they have to be competing with themselves I think. I'm sorry for going off-topic, but marketing is on my mind because I have it tonight.
  3. ^You know the Giants were in a similar situation last season. People were looking down on them because of their previous season, but they did purty well I think. That being said I'm happy baseball season is almost here because it reminds me of summer and PNC Park of course.
  4. You know I don't see any food trucks, other than Schwann's, here on the east coast. If Five Guys had a truck I'd definitely eat from it though.
  5. I think I could honestly put my fear of the ocean on hold in order to experience this cruise. It looks so much fun... even for a young adult like me. Actually, I've never been to Disney "anything" all my life and I've even been to Orlando twice, but I guess we wanted to go to the beach and drink beer instead. Someday though I gotta give it all a shot.
  6. ^ Haha, it looks nice. It looks "open air" to the mall or whatever building its in. It reminds me of the Outback that used to be at PNC Park here in Pittsburgh. That was the world's largest Outback at the time, but it wouldn't surprise me if this one in Dubai is bigger.
  7. Were you able to find a Carrabba's there? I know a guy here who had to go over to Dubai and help open an Outback Steakhouse.
  8. It's been awhile since I posted. Talk about a rather sad looking park. It makes Conneaut Lake Park look more alive than this park could ever be. I love this picture of you Elissa. You look happy yet confused to see Mickey there.
  9. This is probably what Conneaut Lake would look like if it decided never to open again. Very sad pictures, but it appears to be in good shape in spite of it being out of commission for so long. I love those old PTCs, they remind me of the old Racer trains that used to be at Kennywood. It'd be awesome if they could rock those trains out because the newer PTCs they have on it now suck...
  10. I heard CA was backwards and I guess this what was meant by it. I'm curious what's going to become of this.
  11. Aw, I miss New York. I would do anything to go to Columbia for grad school, but that's not going to happen.
  12. ^ Yes, that's exactly what's happening and why they are 2-3 right now.
  13. I have my doubts that any park would buy another coaster like Great American Scream Machne. It takes up too much room and more parks are into buying heavily themed coasters. I can see another Tennessee Tornado at some the other non-chain parks. If the style does come back I see them being built overseas because like I said the standard looping coaster is kind of dead in the U.S. right now.
  14. I never thought of going to Conneaut on acid! Now I don't want to.
  15. My guess is that the wrecking ball was on its way to the park when the purchase occurred. I hope Kat is more than willing to sacrifice her social life to keep this project afloat or it might sink before any inspection takes place.
  16. I imagine that a small group of people that's using their resources to revive a roller coaster hardly have any cash left to hire a public relations director. With that said, I don't know anything about roller coasters and how they should be dismantled and stored, but maybe this group is better at building coasters than they are at public speaking. It's just a thought I have. I wish them the best of luck, but I am not in any position to be helping anyone but myself. College owns my life right now... I would suggest that they try doing Pepsi Refresh project like Conneaut Lake Park did for the Blue Streak, but I don't know if anyone would vote for something that wouldn't have a guaranteed future.
  17. It kind of looks like a baseball diamond. Dutchball! I love the "look" of the architecture. Of course, that's just the exterior. I guess everything needs to be built with a steel skeleton to last these days.
  18. Direct flights via Southwest are kind of dwindling as far as Pittsburgh to Orlando is concerned. I went to Orlando in July and only two were available and they were a bit expensive. I bought the tickets a month in advance too..
  19. ^ "Blueberry Pancakes." I wonder how this fair does with the locals? Do they love it as much as TPR or is it meh... either way it beats the crap out of the fairs in the U.S.
  20. Those Breakdancers scare the crap out of me. I agree with vrf19977 that I feel more comfortable on the world's tallest roller coaster than I do on a spinning flat ride.
  21. ^ You kind of have a Hayley Williams look about you. Eh, whatever...
  22. ^ I am fairly cautious about any type of "hyped" video game now because my recent purchase of Mafia II left me hanging with some questions which outweigh any kind of enjoyment that I would have gotten from the game. Like Mafia II was hyped beyond belief because gamers like myself have been waiting for it for roughly 8 years and anything less than spectacular is considered a waste of time and energy. Now I must admit something to the fellow gamers on this message board. I've never played Halo and I mean all of them. Maybe it's because I don't have a console, but it's just never happened. I guess it's because aside from multiplayer it never appealed to me. Should I prepare myself for a beating?
  23. ^ Well it's not like McDonald's bought an existing building that was there for a hundred years and after a year or two decides to demolish it. I've said this before, but despite the so-called success of eliminating a competitor's park the "ethics" of buying the park are poor because while they shouldn't even be buying in the park in the first place they also managed to take business and jobs away from the community. I know you made some good points about the business end of the park which have been made quite a few times by a lot of people in this thread, but I don't think it's good business ethics to do it at the cost of something that is more important than a couple of extra bucks and rides. I really wish Cedar Fair could have just dealt with the idea of there being more than one big fish in the pond. Cedar Fair got greedy though. I don't know if I should view this as an insult or a comment, but I was simply stating that the park had three nicely themed areas that made the park very attractive to a family. I apologize for trying to being clever. I don't really remember there being any major highways (interstates, 4 lane highways, etc.) being located around Geauga Lake. I just remember the two-lane state roads that were packed with traffic the one time that I went. Of course, I can look this up now on google maps, but I really don't care anymore.
  24. It feels like it was closed yesterday. Sarcasm aside I think a lot of us feel like the park got cheated out on its life by some BS business decision made by an unethical amusement park company. Six Flags; in my opinion, was the best thing to ever happen to Ohio. Six Flags Worlds of Adventure was something that Six Flags could definitely be proud of and I definitely saw it as a major competitor to Cedar Point. That reason alone makes me wish it was still operating as Six Flags, but the only thing the park lacked was proper access. It seemed out of the way when it came to highway access, but the park definitely could have been the Disney World of Ohio if it would have been given the chance.
  25. It seems like you guys had a great time. Despite the atmosphere I'm never the one to get drunk while I travel because I get uncomfortable, but Oktoberfest might be the exception. It was funny seeing KidTums in the beer tent because of what was going on in the beer tent.
