  1. Unless they widen the clearances, I don't see that happening, considering that the new seating arrangement is slightly wider than the old one (Right?). They're still producing the old-style trains if I'm not mistaken, they just stuck new customized floorless ones on Rougarou.
  2. All right, I (terrifyingly) stand corrected. Good to hear! It must have been the early examples that weren't so good. EDIT: Here we go, is this the one? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnaM8ndR2Bo
  3. I originally thought the same thing, but apparently the Funtime towers are actually stinky poo-poo, thanks to a hold at the top, brakes that start pretty far up the tower, and the bulky Gerstlauer shoulder harnesses. EDIT: Here's an example of the one that's at Wien Prater (is it still there, anyone?). There's an earlier example floating around the funfair circuit, it drops and stops the same way but doesn't have the rotating seats. EDIT AGAIN: Am I crazy, or are there two towers named "Mega King Tower"?
  4. Same. I'm firmly in the "this is really no big deal" camp.
  5. So, does anyone want to take any bets on how many quick Microsoft Paint photo comparisons we'll see of old Hulk vs New Hulk throughout the coming months? Anyone? Place yer bets!
  6. I mean, if you have a collection of wooden coasters, one of them has to make the noble sacrifice as a ride for laterals.
  7. What technique? All you do is sit down all the way back and pull the bar over. Done. I even got stapled the first time I rode it on opening day 2012 (back when I guess the restraint padding was worse...?), and I came off with no problems. I will say that I have very strong legs and thighs, so maybe I have a higher tolerance than most people.
  8. The genuine enthusiasts are the ones who recognize and respect the feelings of the other guests, as well as who recognize the team members that make the park work for everyone.
  9. But what properties does Legendary actually own?
  10. A virtual stamp! That's so adorable!
  11. Teen Titans Go is insanely popular with children. I think that it's the most popular show on Cartoon Network right now. The show is episodic in that each episode has a completely different plot and they effectively return to status quo at the end, so they can expand the universe infinitely.
  12. For those of you who don't want to follow the link, the VR Coaster system uses Samsung Gear VR, which is basically a Samsung smartphone mounted right in front of your eyes with a headset. The headsets are basically just pieces of plastic with field of view lenses and the phones can be taken out and charged when they need to be.
  13. Um, "normal" people purchase season passes too, especially if the park is at least somewhat local to a larger community, such as with the southern California parks, Kennywood, Elitch Gardens and Kentucky Kingdom, to name a few.
  14. Yes, they do, but only a very small amount. Parks have to consider every demographic when thinking about what to put in next. Whether or not the park targets the "coaster junkie" demographic specifically when they actually develop an attraction is a different story.
  15. It's actually fairly new, Storm Chaser is in the early stages of construction, at least along Crittenden Drive.
  16. and Nitro, Zumanjaro, and of course Skull Mountain. And a solid supporting cast in Batman, Bizarro, Superman, Sky Screamer, Runaway Mine Train, a classic parachute ride, classic sky ride, classic log flume, a decent rapids ride, etc How dare you forget Blackbeard's Lost Treasure Train. HOW DARE YOU.
  17. This should probably be moved to the Random, Random, Random forum now... To my understanding, the condition of the market is that all these apartments are bought up purely as investments and left unoccupied, to be resold later. This sort of gentrification is also beginning to happen here in the US.
  18. I hope that they put some trees or shrubbery in between that road and the coaster, it looks incredibly bare. EDIT: Just checked out Street View imagery, the entire area, inside and outside the park, is bare! Yikes!
  19. No, you're not. I also think that they're excessive, and they basically wall off the view of the coast for the people who live near the site.
  20. Star Wars on one end, Frozen on the other. Because of course!
  21. Can we get rid of massive outdoor switchback queues, please? Thanks.
  22. If you show up a day or two after Memorial Day you should be able to have a slow-paced, enjoyable time.
  23. No shame, even when taking multiple laps on family coasters like Freedom Flyer. I am a ten-year old and will always be a ten-year old.
  24. Woohoo! Another great Tivoli Gardens trip report!
  25. Ripsaw is still hanging out on Alton Towers' website, but whoever edits their Wikipedia article has put it under "past rides" with a closing year of 2015. If they're going to put a top spin in X-Sector, they might as well buy one of those new suspended ones.
