  1. Fair enough. Though, if it is really a "next-gen" Mystery Mine, I hope that in a few years it will be in a better condition than Mystery Mine at Dollywood, because 70% of that coaster is one of the worst coasters I've ever ridden (the other 30% being pretty good).
  2. Not in terms of dispatch (I can do simple math too), but in terms of the forces on either end of the train.
  3. I kind of agree, this seems like a departure from the aggressive rides we've seen from Intamin lately. I like that it's very graceful through all the elements but it does look kind of boring. Maybe they wanted it to be all about the speed like Millennium Force. Their NoLimits sims do have a fairly accurate track record, so we'll see.
  4. Bold claim, considering that 2013 brought Outlaw Run and 2015 brought Fireman's Landing. Elaborate.
  5. When I say "simulator" I'm referring to the attractions that shake you around but stay in one place. Simpsons and Despicable Me come to mind on Universal's property. I'm not saying that every themed attraction should be an animatronic-heavy attraction, because they shouldn't. Each park has a need, each crop of designers comes up with a story, system and implementation to address the need. Fine. But my problem with -most- (not all) media-based attractions is that they try to tell too much story in too little time. Everything moves so fast and you don't even have time to think about what's going on because by the time you do the ride is over. The balance between taking the time to tell your story and making sure guests keep flowing through the attraction is a very difficult one to achieve. I'm also slightly biased because I can't ride those rides with the glasses on without getting motion sick. You can't win 'em all.
  6. Aren't the 12-car Millennium Flyer trains about as long as normal two-row 7-car trains anyway? Or at least...like 6 and a half?
  7. From the guest's perspective, it makes everything seem to be the same. I'd be incredibly bored if Universal kept putting simulators in.
  8. Just because you made your first coaster in NoLimits doesn't mean that you can move to actually building coasters in real life.
  9. Did it? I thought that the idea behind the El Loco was to only use towers (S&S's strong suit) for the supports of the coaster, and that the cars just shared the same seating system as the screaming squirrel.
  10. Eurofighter? First drops beyond 90 degrees! Wing coaster? Fly on the wings of [insert animal or plane-type vehicle here]! They're marketable. Have you tried to explain to someone what an AquaTrax is? Answer: you can't. Because no one knows what the heck an AquaTrax is. Intamin shoves it all the way at the bottom of their roller coasters list on their website. The only parks that can put in an AquaTrax and market it properly are the ones who don't have any or many other coasters, and most smaller parks can't afford the expensive investment.
  11. It kind of ruins the nice little Miniland-style car ride.
  12. No, I don't have one. It's not important to get one right now because I can barely get 720 HD through my cable provider without losing an arm and a leg every month as it is. That, and, I typically sit far enough away from the television that I wouldn't be able to notice the difference between 1080 and 2160. Plus, none of my gaming consoles run at 2160. I'm very satisfied with my iTunes and Netflix content running at 1080 right now. It's comfortable. BONUS ANSWER! Now, I will be getting a new Macbook Pro in the near future, and that runs at 1800. Because I'm in closer proximity to that screen, the higher-resolution content might make a discernible difference. But the screen (and that of the iMac Retina 4K / 5K by consequence) is just a bonus for me, I'm not buying a Macbook Pro because of the retina display.
  13. Low height requirement =/= family-friendly.
  14. Fair enough. I actually like the current queue design even though it's a little dark, but I understand why people were so let down by the change. But, then again, I never got to experience the attraction when it was Dueling Dragons, so I really don't know.
  15. J.K. Rowling. Y'know, considering that they fabricated what's basically an original story for Forbidden Journey, I'm surprised that they didn't try to come up with one to tie into the Fire / Ice dragons thing instead of plucking the Triwizard Tournament story from the books.
  16. Curious, if they're removing the mid-course brake, why three trains? Are they just going to perpetually keep one in storage all the time?
  17. Making a dig at the slightly unoriginal name, not the I.P.-based attractions. But then again, I am a big cheeseball so I'm probably the only one that appreciates corny / catchy names.
  18. Looks like a great development, for sure. Though, can we stop with the "[insert studio / I.P. here] World" stuff? Whatever happened to catchy theme park and attraction names?
  19. That was the original color scheme? What about this one? The photo looks older.
  20. I'm making up for not going to theme parks by...planning a theme park.
  21. I know that the Intamin mega coaster is supposed to be two hundred and umpteen feet tall, but it looks pretty drawn out. Kind of like a middle-ground between the speed and grace of Millennium Force and the crazy airtime of, say, Skyrush.
  22. I'll assume you're serious, considering you're not from the US. Jimmy Fallon is a late-night talk show host that does nightly shows on the NBC television network, which is under the same corporate umbrella as Universal.
  23. Can't we say that about any track, regardless of style, that shows up in a Chinese park under construction?
