  1. XYZ's getting on my nerves a bit - he's been reviving dead threads in our forum as well as the Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, and Donkeys forum. I don't know if he means it, or he's just trying to up his post count.
  2. Link(s)? I won't believe anything you have to say until you post that source link, bub.
  3. Big Bad Wolf. EDIT: Drachen Fire too. I was afraid of roller coasters when I went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg in 1999, and the line was outrageously long all the time I was there (mid-morning to early evening) when I went in 2007.
  4. Since you hand-built it, I can ask questions. How are the Gs going over that drop? It looks like your cars would hit -1.8 or so, but I'm not sure.
  5. I'd rather have Loch Ness Monster three times before Griffon once. I don't care what anyone says, the view from the top of the drop down to the river is fantastic.
  6. ^ Yack, yack, yack, yack, yack.
  7. I thought the reason why Pittfall was being removed was that it has been a maintenance nightmare.
  8. How exactly do you know they would do it? They could announce tomorrow that they've decided to not put in a Windseeker and put in a super sized StarFlyer instead. Kings Dominion being a part of Cedar Fair doesn't mean anything, especially to 95% of the guests in the park, who don't even know who Cedar Fair is. So many enthusiasts trash on Cedar Fair for their "practices", all that trashing goes down the toilet when you look at a park as an individual. The park could be in the worst possible chain but have the best guest service in [insert region here]. Just look at Dorney Park. That park has remained perfectly viable throughout all these years without any crazy-expensive addition like a record-breaker or a giga coaster. You wouldn't even think it were a Cedar Fair park.
  9. Isn't fantasy a wonderful thing? Let's build a 400-foot launched Intamin even though Intmidator 305 is right there anyway! It can have lap bars only and a 0-150mph launch in 3.1 seconds with a Mega-lite-inspired layout and a bonus helix! Let's not forget a water splash! We'll theme it to a pile of dirt and call it Laser Snake Horse on Fire!
  10. Originality! I like it. Instead of the roll before the half-loop, it's the other way around? Or are you trying to create an Immelman? I can't tell. I'd think an actual roll into a drop would be better. People in the back would have no choice but to savor the hang time.
  11. The thing is, if Verbolten's station is at the same height Big Bad Wolf's station was, then it will be able to pick up decent speed right from the start, because it can drop down and get close to the ground. Big Bad Wolf sort of meandered because it couldn't drop very far or else the alignment rods on the bottoms of the cars would hit the ground.
  12. Even with new management, Cedar Point will still be the "flagship" park in the chain.
  13. Well, that puts the nail in the "What kind of coaster is New Texas Giant" coffin.
  14. From what I understand, it's a gravity-powered ride to the event building, then a launch into the event building, then a launch out of the event building.
  15. Everyone in NAHoxworth Land, remember that the extra revenue most likely brought in by Dinosaurs Alive will help toward the development of a new major attraction. The whole "Black Forest" theme looks like it's going to have so much more relevance in this attraction than the similar theme has for Thirteen at Alton Towers. Plus, it could teach kids how NOT to drive! Drive fast around a corner in a car you don't know how to drive, and you might end up in the Black Forest as a creepy spirit!
  16. The point is that it shouldn't be compared to Cheetah Hunt, a ride that's sprawled all over one side of Busch Gardens Tampa.
  17. It's not sad. Verbolten is replacing Big Bad Wolf. Big Bad Wolf was 2800 feet long, Verbolten is 2835.
  18. October 15? Pee-shaw, Phall Phunfest is where it's at! I'm going to be riding Phoenix in a tuxedo!
  19. Okay, so, if I haven't made my involvement in my student group known enough already... I'm currently co-chair of a Technology/Education committee, and our job is to teach students and those interested the basics of CAD- and CAD-style programs such as NoLimits. We're currently working on video tutorials for NoLimits to put on our group's Youtube channel. Since there are two of us (myself and the other guy), we've split the work 60-40, with the other guy doing NoLimits for Windows and myself doing NoLimits for Mac as well as the companion program Newton2. The only reason why I've brought this up is because we fired off a while ago about having game tutorials to act as a companion to the game exchange, and it's convenient that I'm working on some right now. I want to create them so that they can be easily comprehended by the people who watch our Youtube channel, as well as the little toddlers who like to peruse our games forum. I've created a "test" video that shows sort of what the final products will look like. I've created them using video capture and annotations only, so that everything is made completely clear and there are no discrepancies like, "what did he say?" and the like. I don't want to upload it to Youtube or Coastertube because I really don't want it made completely public. What do you think? One thing that I know I need to improve on is to slow down. nltuttest.mp4 Download. It's not very big, about 8MB or so.
  20. That drop looks maliciously steep. Also, I prefer your term "Bat Shiz Crazy". It looks like no wooden coaster I have ever seen, which in my opinion is fantastic.
  21. This week's winner is Ilari with his not-so-horrible Inverted coaster called "Horrible Presentation"! It's a great-looking inverted coaster that's built into a landmass, and could fit in any theme. It wasn't rated the highest of the pack, but it got the most ratings and was uploaded the earliest! QueerRudie will be in contact with Ilari soon, as he's out on some sort of "business" that I really couldn't care less about. The track of the week for the week starting September 16 is - RCT2: Schwarzkopf Speedracer/Jumbo Jet with a ROMAN theme Once again, you are given two weeks to prepare your tracks for the contest. You had all of last week to make your Jumbo Jet and now you have this week to put the finishing touches on it and post it to the exchange. THIS WEEK'S Track of the week - RCT2 Schwarzkopf Speedracer/JumboJet (ROMAN theme) NEXT WEEK'S Track of the week - RCT2 Wild Mouse (Steel only, no inverted) Remember that the main focus should be the track, not the landscaping or architecture. The theme compliments the track. The winner will get a whimsical magical Theme Park Review Bag of Crap, with many things that will mystify and amaze you (or disgust you, depending on the packager's mood). Also remember that there is no custom content (custom scenery, rides, etc) or hacking allowed. Good luck everyone!
  22. Even though that layout looks in my opinion completely bogus, if that was the actual layout it looks like they would have to modify Ghostrider's structure, which would give them an excuse to do some rehab work on it...I know you West Coast-ians are itching for a Ghostrider rehab...
  23. Hmmm, ehhh, it makes sense. Some transitions on real-life roller coasters are insanely quick (such as Intimidator 305), but I understand the rolls. In reality, having a really tight roll is physically possible if the front set of wheels is its own zero-car (like B&Ms and recent Intamins like Maverick).
  24. Knoebels will as of now also have the Skooter Bumper Cars, Haunted Mansion, Satellite, and other smaller kids rides open this weekend, once again according to their Facebook page. Attractions-wise, it's like the flood never happened. I guess there was some seriously fantastic stuff going on during that cleanup.
  25. Italian Trapeze, Satellite, the super round-up thingy, and the Sky Slide as well aren't listed. EDIT: Tea Cups too. Oh, and the Flying Turns isn't listed. But that's become sort of commonplace.
