Poor Dragon Coaster! Does this mean that the Dutch Wonderland Sky Princess isn't the only coaster to have had a gender change anymore? -
Matt, can we get a front page story for the contest voting?

Hey, thanks guys, I really appreciate it. I'm in a student group here at school, and we're like the nerds of theme park nerds. I was originally planning a trip down there by myself, but a few other people in the group are interested in getting down there as well, so we're all likely going to go down as a group. As for the Show Ambassador program, I was also considering it, but I hit a slide this time around. Because I've been in mass lecture classes, I really haven't gotten the opportunity to get to know a faculty member that well, and a faculty member reference is required for the application. I'll most likely apply in the spring.

It's not a B&M Looper, it's a K'nex looper. I don't understand where you get B&M from, I mean, B&M's coasters aren't made of plastic bits that snap together. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kings Dominion just got Intimidator 305 in 2010, and that probably costed a rather large sum of money. Now, this year, they spent even more money on the re-profiling of the first turn. Next year, they're planning on adding a Windseeker, which will cost even more money. Now - which situation makes more sense - yet another crazy-expensive attraction that would not only give away the "You have to get off at this exit and drive in to see the park the sign advertises" feeling while driving along I-95 but also tarnish an otherwise quaint area of the park, or an up-charge attraction that the crowds will love bringing their kids to that will help the park secure some green stuff for use at a later date? -

Honestly, I never get tired of the Moby Dick jokes... -
I wasn't planning on being annoying, but thanks for the heads-up. I'm as much interested in the cool new stuff being showcased as I am just talking to professionals. It's not like I'm going down there with a "OMFGZ0RZ HIRE ME PLZ" attitude, I just want to talk to and get to know some people. I still have several years left of school. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.

Aha, an original RCT park! The only thing I don't like are those corkscrews. The train would probably be tearing through them. -

Hooray! A funfair trip report! Thanks for sharing. The HUSS Flipper (Tornado) looks neat. I wish they would still produce them, as they look cool. -
Hey guys! I'm planning a trip down to IAAPA in Orlando this year. The catch is - it goes on over a week of classes here at school. My question is - how many days of the show do you recommend I attend? I want to attend all five, but I don't want to be active all over for two days and then have absolutely nothing to do the next three. In case you don't know, I'm an engineering student trying to get into the industry in several years, and I'm going down to IAAPA mainly to start networking. Thanks!

[RCT2] Sunny Thrills

I don't think the launch track is a problem - you can launch any roller coaster through any launch section with enough power, and as long as the acceleration is around 1.6-ish backward Gs, it's fine. The top hat isn't very tall. -

It gets to the point where purchasing custom parts gets too expensive, and it causes the park to lose a lot of money. I'm sure if Cedar Point wasn't so concerned about the number of roller coasters they have in their park Iron Dragon would be gone by now. -

So, you would remove a fantastic money-maker for the park? Smooth move, bub. -

I did some poking, and someone who was on before copied/pasted this log in a whisper to me - Obviously not the whole thing, but I got the idea. I bet R.D. would be able to tell you more. Seems as if Pufferfish was making fun of the prize for winning the latest NoLimits contest. -
It breaks the speed record - what happens after the train reaches its maximum speed really doesn't matter as long as it holds the record. As for the Electrocuted Reindeer Coaster, the only other thing that would explain the number 81 as it pertains to speed is if Busch Gardens decides to go all-out authentic and give its speed in kilometers per hour, which equals 50-and-change miles per hour.

SOMETHING has to replace Iron Dragon after next year (if the Arrow Suspended = 25 years pattern is true). A major roller coaster-type investment won't have happened for six years at that time (except for Shoot the Rapids, but it probably would be less expensive than a you-know-what). -

Have you tested G-forces sitting in the very back seat of the train? There's a reason why Maverick and Fahrenheit only have three cars per train. -

Maybe Xpress will get those neat new trains in addition to its re-paint. Isn't Xpress like...unbearable to ride?
