I Love To Stand on Log Flumes! (video)
A.J. replied to MrMorgan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not sure about Ripsaw Falls, but Splash Mountain at WDW got lap bars because people would get up out of the boats when the ride was E-stopped, I believe. -

6600 feet of track, with more than half of it four-rail... Need I say more? -

Maryland Scorcher? Put your feet to the fire? I'm all for a new stand-up being built, but is it really a good idea to theme it the same way as a ride only a few states below? I'm probably completely wrong. -
KCForce's working model roller coasters

Very cool. I would love to make a NoLimits coaster out of this. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

None exists... Logic just shouts "Ground is shaking... Shut the ride down!" They have to evacuate the rides though - an earthquake could mess with a ride's foundation, making it unstable and unsafe. -
Official RCT/RCT2 Help Thread
A.J. replied to Stoksy's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Remember that RCT2 is located in the "Program Files (x86)" folder in Windows Vista and 7 as opposed to "Program Files" in XP and below. The other thing I'd suggest is do a search for files starting with "SCR". -

One thing is for sure though - those are NOT Iron wolf's trains. -
I like putting my window down and screaming expletives at the top of my lungs. That's not the smartest thing to do, I know, but it's really satisfying. Sometimes my ginger side gives me road rage. -- Penn State just raised the price of a pint of milk ten cents. WTF?

Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
But wait! That might de-throne Leviathan of two records! The first being the tallest roller coaster in Canada... ...and the second one being the most monotonous brake run...IN THE WORLD. -
Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to BDG's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I truly believe that Leviathan is Canada's Wonderland's coaster, and theirs alone. When you have a ride like Chang or Batman: The Ride and you need to relocate it, it's not incredibly difficult to do it because the land plot is relatively flat all over and somewhat simply shaped (Chang's plot was a giant frying pan). Leviathan will be built on a very specific plot that runs along the park's edge, next to and over roadways, and next to the parking lot. It has also been designed to deal with Dragon Fire. Most of the plot looks flat, but the ride makes an exaggerated L shape that isn't very space-efficient. You can't really change decisions on the fly unless you have a solid Plan B. Chang could be built at Six Flags Great Adventure because they had that flat plot of land - unused parking space (Green Lantern's ground WAS once part of the parking lot, correct?). I'm sure Cedar Fair - like all of us following the whole RIT game - had absolutely no idea what Hersheypark was planning until it was revealed. Even then, Hersheypark had most likely put the plans for Skyrush into motion years ago. On a side note, the 300-foot club is pretty exclusive right now, and i'm sure they'll hold the record for tallest roller coaster in Canada for a very long time. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
-cymbal crash- I guess I just wasn't expecting it, is all. After looking at those screen grabs again, I saw the "tallest ride ever built at Carowinds" pull. ...and I've never tried riding a Windseeker, so I can't judge anyway. Shame on me. Maybe I'd like it better if they painted it different colors. -

How many does that make now, five? Cedar Fair is certainly getting lazy. Copy, paste. Copy, paste. The public will eat it up though. -
I don't usually hate on other websites, but shyguy certainly has built himself up an army of cronies. Honestly, I'm going to leech and download this CS so I don't have to hopelessly search for it later. Their wasted time is my gain.

Honestly, me being a tiny but tall person, I thought the new trains on Nor'Easter made it bearable when I rode it a year or so ago.

On what evidence? Iron Wolf and Deja Vu are the only two coasters that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom could possibly get this season. Deja Vu is on its way to Six Flags New England, and Iron Wolf could very well possibly be scrapped. That's interesting, actually. It could be a good marketing tool for them, "steepest drop on the west coast". Dare Devil Dive.

Farfetched idea - what if it's a new standing coaster with the same layout as Iron Wolf? -
China Bans New Theme Parks
A.J. replied to deathbydinn's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
This sort of makes sense, I think. All the theme parks in China seem to be massive. Putting a cap on the land they can use (I think that's what the article is saying, correct?) means that more land can go to people in developing industries for use as factories or something similar. The real question is (I might not have read the article thoroughly), will the theme parks that are exempt from the ruling (like Shanghai Disneyland) be able to expand any further? -
Another flaw with NoLimits Mac is that you cannot easily tell when snap is on or off. There are two places where you can toggle snap - Under "display" (or by using command 0), and on the toolbar (but you have to customize it and put the icon on yourself). The menu item under "display" is the only way you can tell if snap is on (check = on).

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
A.J. replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'd rather see Cedar Point build something amazing and wait a year. Whether we like it or not Dinosaurs Alive is a GP magnet and will make a hefty sum of money for the park, which they can use to make something amazing for the following year. -

Yes it does. Riders sit under the track in a fixed train with their feet dangling in the air. Inverted roller coaster. -
