  1. How does it take you that long from northeast Ohio? It takes me exactly 3 from Pittsburgh, 2:40-ish from Grove City/Slippery Rock, PA, and my roommate is from Erie and has gotten there in 2:30-ish. On a side note, does anyone know how the water park did this year? I know there were rumors floating around that this year was "make it or break it" for that park.
  2. Knowing Pitt they'll be looking ahead to Miami and end up losing to New Hampshire. Watch them start 0-3.
  3. ^^^ It's funny you should make those points, all the signs that Six Flags WOA was gaining some steam were definitely there. I thought nothing of them then, but looking back on it now, I definitely see them clear as day. One example I can think of off hand is bus trips. Usually the bus companies, churches, schools, etc. would always go to Cedar Point, but during the peak of WOA, you would steadily see yearly trips change to Six Flags instead (not as much with the touring companies, but definitely a significant amount of church groups and schools in Pittsburgh and the surrounding area). Like I said, a small detail that went unnoticed to me back then, but definitely interesting now looking back.
  4. Ha, you hit the nail right on the head there, at least with me. Even "everything in my power," as I said above, is still barely anything for a money-strapped college student.
  5. ^ I was there last year (early May 2009), and I really liked that attraction. I thought it was extremely underrated and one of the best attractions Universal had. I was extremely disappointed to hear it might be removed, but I really hope that new version comes to fruition!
  6. Why keep it sitting there, dormant for 3 years, only to just demolish it anyway? I was never a fan of the Big Dipper for the painful rides it has given me (as you can see in my CF ratings, I gave it a 1/10), but a coaster is a coaster and I hope it gets saved. As with CLP's Blue Streak, I'll definitely do everything in my power to help support that cause.
  7. That's strange, considering I rode in that seat Friday night.
  8. Awesome pictures! I have thought the same about a night ride, and really hope to get one some day!
  9. Revis has signed, the holdout is over! Shall we pencil in the J-E-T-S JETS! JETS! JETS! for the Super Bowl? http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/news/story?id=5538132 http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d5d81a4d456/article/holdout-ov er-revis-jets-agree-to-terms-on-new...
  10. From their site: I'm not sure about Oktoberfest, but from what I have heard the park and Blue Streak will be open for most (if not all) of the "Ghost Lake" event.
  11. I'm currently working on re-doing the second half of my previously released NL coaster, Turbo, but I am at an impasse, as I don't know how to create the Intamin transitions. All help is appreciated.
  12. See, I wasn't the only one!
  13. ^^ Good to hear! I guess the weather did play a huge role.
  14. I didn't even notice the area over there, I just saw the road leading in with a sort of information booth and went that way. This is the area I am talking about. It's across the street, where the sign is. You can see all the cars in this picture.
  15. Can anyone walk me through how to make the quick Intamin transitions, as found on Maverick/I305, using Newton2? I have literally spent hours upon hours total trying to replicate these, but to no avail (not even close, lol). Here's what I mean: Thanks, help is greatly appreciated.
  16. Yeah, probably. Were there any cars in the lot across the street when you went? Technically that's where everyone is supposed to park when visiting. Friday night I thought about parking there because it wasn't chained off or anything, but I didn't want to be the only car.
  17. I started playing Forza 3 again. I love a great game I can always turn to when the current new selection is "dry." Drag racing online is fun. Yesterday I tied my fastest time ever in the mile, only with a different car than I used the first time back in January...pretty excited about that. Starting to get into playing "Tag" online. That's really fun too!
  18. Cool pics! That's weird you had to pay for parking. I just asked the "guard" where to park and he just waved me along. I ended up parking in that same lot near the dilapidated basketball game.
  19. Awesome pictures! I hope I can ride this someday!
  20. That's actually good to hear. Some of my friends and relatives wanted to ride, but couldn't this weekend because they are out of town. I will definitely be making a return trip!
  21. I noticed that too when I was there Friday. That area was actually a pretty hoppin' place!
  22. ^ Don't feel left out, I do too on MF, but only in the very last seat.
  23. Yep, maybe a few more (5 or so) for my third ride. When I first pulled up I actually thought the park was closed. There were no cars in the lot and the front gates were closed. Finally after making a couple passes, making myself look like a jacka$$, I asked the security guard and I parked way in the back in what seemed like an employee parking lot, or maintenance lot. Even when I started walking in the park everything was dark, closed, and silent, and I thought I was the only one in the park at that time, until I saw a few people standing around the Blue Streak area up ahead.
  24. Wait...please tell me the re-opening of this classic coaster was able to draw more than 8-12 people out on a Friday night. To be fair, it rained and stormed pretty heavily here/there right as the park was scheduled to open. The main mechanic I was talking about above said that because of that, only 8 people showed up for work, and 20-something (24 maybe, I can't remember exactly) rides needed operators. Blue Streak was the only ride running. Only a mere two hours had passed since I arrived, but as I was leaving there were many more people out and about walking up and down the road outside the park, and in the park area in general. If the weather cooperates, tomorrow and Sunday will most likely be better because more people will be in the area looking for things to do, as opposed to just arriving and getting settled. The entire town of Conneaut, nearby areas such as Pymatuning, Linesville and the Spillway, etc. have always thrived on weekends and holidays, and always seem like ghost towns during the week.
