Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
FeelTheFORCE replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That would've been AWESOME! I really doubt they would do that due to a later opening, more tests before that, etc, etc. Would've been awesome, though. P.S.-I wonder if you were to E-mail CP and arrange something like this, if they would let organizitions do this...Robb or Elissa would be your best bet at convincing them, though. They wouldn't because even if there weren't any legal ramifications, if there were an accident or some sort of mishap, it would be all over the news, and Cedar Point's reputation and image would go way down. Too late anyway, because the track has already been removed and put on a truck to be hauled away. -

Actually, they're calling it "America's Rockin' Roller Coast" these days. I guess they wanted to steal Disneyland's failures with Rockin' California Screamin' and Rockin' Space Mountain. Actualy, Cedar Point started using the slogan "America's Rock N' Roller Coast" in around 2000 or 2001, and only recently switched to a new slogan "Ride On". I guess the employees just didn't get the news. They actually say both now. After you get off, "Enjoy the rest of your day at America's rockin' roller coast, Cedar Point. Ride on!" -

Just got back from my trip to CP on Thursday and Friday. I know T&T posted pretty much the same pics, but here are some I took on those 2 days. Maverick looks so amazing in person, and so much bigger than one would think. Those rock formations are HUGE! Pics taken with phone, so bear with me. Thursday: Friday: Friday, they did little to no work, the track pieces were on a flatbed truck next to mean streak's lift hill. -

Surfing to TPR
FeelTheFORCE replied to BrownStreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just type "t" in my address bar, hit down, and i'm on the sight. -
that would be great. im not a big free fall rider myself, but i recently Xcelerator at Knotts. i had nothing but airtime/lifting out of my seat on the way down the top hat. with TTD being at least 40mph faster, id love to experience those G's I've ridden both, and it's not that much of a difference, in my opinion. It's the same feeling, only, since dragster is taller, it lasts slightly longer.

I don't think there will be a single rider line. Look at this picture, as I stated earlier, it will probably be used for dual loading, the same as TTD. -

Yeah, that's what I would assume. Would that mean that they have to put in a new support beam also? -

Plus, it doesn't even look vertically heartlined. In terms of the track shaping from side to side it works, but the top of the train gets flung down towards the ground instead of having the track pull up to compensate for that! This is how it should've been done if they wanted a true heartline: Yeah, I always thought of that as well. But I just thought that they meant to make it that way because you are right over water, and your head would be a mere few feet away from it. Looks like that backfired, though. -

Great PTR!! Wildcat is ok, but the leg room is terrible, I just can't go on it anymore. I think the two sides in Maverick's que are for dual loading like in TTD's station. That's what I would guess. -

I don't know if anyone has come across this or not, but after seeing this video of the roll, now I completely understand why they have to modify it. It just absolutely FLIES through that roll. -

Yes it was a old train car from the B&O to go with the theme. Also here is the link. Actually, there is still another suprise, which will probably have to do with the tunnel. A report from someone who saw it testing recently said that he heard from the tunnel sounds like the dinging of a railroad crossing, a "meltdown siren" and a cannon being fired. Also, inside the tunnel there where railroad crossing type signs marked "turn back", when I saw the ride on opening day. I don't think the tunnel is it, though. Look at the comment posted here...they say that they won't mention anything regarding the tunnel and that you have to ride it to find out. What could the "surprise" possibly be if it isn't the tunnel? -

Did T&T ever say what the second "surprise" was? Am I missing something? -

1. I would assume it would be more crowded than normal. The last time I was there was back in June of 2004, and I waited an hour for Apollo's Chariot and Big Bad Wolf. Alpie and Lochness were walk-ons, though, so it will vary. 2. Griffon first definitely, then Apollo and Big Bad Wolf, those seem to be the most crowded. 3. When I was there none broke down all day. 4. I know around the entrance of Alpie, there are a lot of good spots to get Alpie. 5. Not sure. 6. Corkscrew Hill. -

Yeah, because it says right under the logo, "Click here for a special message." Every other link on the site takes you to the Maverick site. -
Glasses Allowed on Storm Runner?
FeelTheFORCE replied to shepp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wear glasses as well. I used to wear a strap, but now I just always wear my shorts with the zipper pockets every time I go to a park. It's a lot easier. My eyes are pretty bad, but it doesn't bother me, I can still get the general idea of what I'm seeing. I'm not sure about Storm Runner, though, the last time I was at HP, it wasn't there.
