  1. I'd love to see a Condor / Sky Screamer combo where the tubs are replaced with swings on 3 separate arms flying in close proximity to eachother.
  2. So Speedy Gonzales is now considered offensive to hispanics and the L.A. area has the highest concentration of Spanish speaking people in the United States. So Magic Mountain is putting in a new Speedy Gonzales roller coaster. Did I get that right? I hate political correctness but find this surprising and kind of feel like they're inviting controversy.
  3. What about Rick DiPietro the ride? The ride would cost the park 36 million dollars and would feature a launch section. On either side of the launch track there could be lots of fiberglass hockey pucks so you can experience the feeling of hockey pucks sailing past you almost effortlessly. To add to the immersive experience, after the first year or two of the ride's operation it would break down and would remain broken for 13 more years. The ride would become an embarrassment to the park who would still be on the hook for the entire 36 million dollar price tag and every time guests came to the park they'd be forced to walk by the SBNO ride and would be reminded about the horrible financial investment the park made. What do you think?
  4. The turn into the mid course on that video looks like some kind of sick joke. Does it still take that turn at that speed or is there a trim somewhere in the first half?
  5. I know this post is about 7 years old at this point but I wanted to quote it because I think I just choked on my lunch a little bit. This is a joke right? Nobody could possibly miss Viper.
  6. I highly suggest visiting Ocean City. There are some credits (all are terrible) but there's plenty of non coaster related things to do there and you won't regret visiting. If you go, don't miss the Haunted House on the boardwalk, Ocean Gallery, Thrasher's French Fries, Kohr Bros frozen custard or Playland Arcade (they have a ton of insanely old games). Also, I'm not sure of your age or if you're into the bar scene but I HIGHLY recommend Seacrets. It's like the Disney World of alcohol.
  7. They probably won't honestly. The only reason they're doing it is because Halloween is on a Friday so it doesn't really make sense not to be open the first weekend in November (the 1st and 2nd). I would think that if Halloween fell on a Monday (just as an example) they wouldn't be open.
  8. I like coasters that are extremely tall and fast. Ideally I'd like the coaster to be smooth but the transitions to be fast and out of control. It's also a major plus if the coaster doesn't have over the shoulder restraints. Finally... I'd like the ride to have ridiculous airtime. So basically I want it to be El Toro.
  9. I have to admit, I wouldn't be able to help myself. I'd probably ride it too.
  10. Probably... but then they're committed to a "traditional" coaster which because of it's height would probably end up around 6000 or 7000 feet long and that would be really expensive. I305 is around 5000 feet and Millennium Force is 6,595 feet. Since this coaster would be even taller you would end up with a lot of track and a really hefty price tag. It's not at all out of the realm of possibility but that was my thinking behind it.
  11. Just to clarify, is Scorpion open during this expansion?
  12. There actually is one park in the U.S. that owns a Zipper. Trimper's Rides in Ocean City, Md. It's amazing.
  13. What about Mystery Mine's barrel roll right after the second lift? The older B&M invert's zero g rolls come to mind too.
  14. Ugh.. why didn't I listen to you? Honestly I think he gave the PC answer to every question so he essentially said nothing but it's interesting learning about his background and the fact that he has great taste in Intamin coasters. Fast Pay is a neat idea too.
  15. I'm not a Twitter guy but I actually do find myself looking at that feed now so I think Robb made a good decision on the home page (even though I initially preferred the other design).
  16. Dinosaurs Alive is actually kind of cool. I wouldn't do at at Cedar Point since there are so many other things to do, but we did it at Dorney and it was pretty decent. I'd suggest doing it once.
  17. I think they're just trying to throw us off with this one. They already have a great Log Flume, Bumper Boats and Sklooosh... I don't see why they'd need another water ride. I don't see them building a water coaster because it seems like a huge expense for a ride that won't run all year in a park that's dependent on the sale of ride tickets.
  18. Same here... I always wait for the front on inverts.
  19. Anyone who wastes their time riding Kingda Ka doesn't deserve a short cut to El Toro. I got a laugh out of this but I do have to agree with Yoshi, the fact that Golden Kingdom is now 2 separate areas that aren't connected to eachother at all is beyond stupid. And Kingda Ka is actually a great ride if (and only if) you wait for the front seat... especially if you have a Q Bot and reserve El Toro so you're technically waiting for El Toro when you're waiting for Kingda Ka's front seat.
  20. I've been there twice, once in the summer of 2002 and once last winter and I had a great time both times, but we're also rushing around to cram everything into one day (on our last visit we had the Platinum Flash Pass and paid to add on X2 and Lex Luthor) so we didn't have any time to slow down and notice the flaws. I could see hating this place if it was my home park but I actually really enjoy the park and it's coasters (though many of them are overrated). I loved Tatsu and was a big fan of Scream!, Batman (even though we can ride it at Great Adventure), Ninja, Apocalypse and believe it or not Viper. The only non-coaster rides we rode were the Sky Tower, the flume and Lex Luthor. The rest of the coasters were pretty good, the only ones I really hated were Green Lantern and X2. Like I said though, if I had a chance to really slow down and notice the small details and potential flaws I probably wouldn't think so highly of the park... but I didn't, we were just running around to ride all of the coasters.
  21. If a ride is still popular, why remove it?
  22. I've never been on it but I immediately thought of Ultimate at Lightwater Valley.
  23. The definition of "compact" is getting looser and looser as this thread progresses but I'll go with Flight of Fear.
