Six Flags Mexico (SFM) Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to zburns999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Most likely because Six Flags doesn't care. They probably figure that it's not visible from guest areas so they don't see the point in removing it. Six Flags has a long, storied history of laziness when it comes to ride removals but here are some examples of them doing the same thing. Skull Mountain at SFA Rolling Thunder at Great Adventure Footers for nothing from the old Rattler I could go on as there are plenty of other examples (Metro at Magic Mountain...lol). While this isn't a big issue, it is an example of something most other operators would have fixed. -

I don't buy that you were being sarcastic at all... I think you're just saying that now since people jumped on your post. And it's not "gang up on Diamondbacker27 week", but when you make posts like that and the seatbelt thing then people are going to make fun of those posts. -

This is pure speculation but I would assume that adding the belts lowers their insurance costs, but if they said that then people would freak out about it and make stupid posts insinuating that they're putting the bottom line before their guests. If they were to respond, they would give you a PR line about how it's to ensure the safety of their guests and then they'd go on to talk about how safety is their #1 priority. Personally if that's why they did it I don't really blame them. My personal opinion on it is that I don't really care because it won't impact the ride experience at all. It's a little annoying because it will slow down dispatch times a little but if they're saving enough money then I can't fault them too much for it... I can fault the insurance companies for having such knee-jerk reactions to everything but I don't really think this is a big deal. -
Favourite small park

If Knoebels counts then that's clearly my answer... if that's too big then I'll go with Lake Compounce. -

Quoting this a third time. Humans have two hands, you know. Yes, the topic of my hatred of non retractable seat belts is over. Let's get on the topic of Kings Island, and not me and Diamondbacks seat belts. This is just too good to let it die. Out of curiosity, why are you convinced you won't be able to move the belt out of the way? I really want to know. PS: Relax, It's all in good fun. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread

I've always thought Twister was an awesome, highly underrated ride. It perfectly walks the fine line between being completely out of control and relentless and being rough. I find it re-rideable but still completely insane, and I love the fact that it's at Knoebels because I'm sure they'll make sure it stays that way without crossing that line and turning into a rough coaster like it probably would at most other parks. -

Great report... I'm so jealous of everyone who got to attend this event.

That's a terrible example. El Toro and Expedition GeForce would be better examples... but really if people think seat belts will ruin airtime then they're just going out of their way to find things to complain about. The only problem with the belts will be increased dispatch times. Edit: I'm in the minority of people that think MF does have a decent amount of airtime if you ride near the back of the train but I don't think of it as an airtime coaster.

Ludicrous park food prices

I always thought hot dogs were the biggest rip offs in parks. They're not filling at all... most people can eat them in 30 seconds and they cost as much as $10. -

Those are some great images. This ride looks a lot bigger than I thought it would. -
Are we really breaking down the aerodynamics of the train now? I really think we should all reach out to the engineers at the major coaster design firms that do this for a living and have engineering degrees and let them know about this forum so they could read through it and learn how to do their jobs properly.

I had the same thought -
I've only been to BGT once and was expecting it to blow BGW out of the water. Maybe it was the homer in me, but I thought BGT only really edged BGW by a little. Granted, I haven't visited BGT since 2006. I still find Apollo's Chariot as great as it was its first season. I was actually a little underwhelmed by Montu, given its reputation. I will say that Alpengeist for me has gone way down hill for me over the past 5-6 years and I'll only give it a token ride. Also, I really was hoping for something along the lines of Cheetah Hunt instead of Verbolten. How's Kumba running these days? I remember loving the hell out of it but have the nagging suspicion it may have roughened up a bit over the past 8 years. I think both parks are beautiful and both parks have great coaster collections. They're both world class parks. That being said one park has Kumba and one park doesn't... so there's no debate for me. I love the coasters at both parks though... the only bad coaster at either of them is Gwazi. By the way, I just wanted to point out that I love Alpengeist. I don't know why people think this ride is rough... it's really not, at least not when we rode it this Spring. Maybe we just got it on a good day or maybe it had an issue with a wheel last year but I loved this ride in the front and the back. That Cobra roll is flat out nuts. Montu is better, but in my opinion only slightly. Oh... and Kumba isn't rough at all, no need to be concerned. We rode it for the first time this February and it puts every other B&M I've ridden to shame.

I love wild speculation as much as the next guy but this is too wild even for me... I'm sure the manufacturer knows what they're doing better than a bunch of coaster enthusiasts do.
