There is no way in hell this ride will be open on May 29th. That's only 2 weeks away and track work isn't even finished yet. They still need to install the barrel roll and the top of the lift (and possibly more track not visible on the webcam, though it does seem pretty much complete besides those elements) and finish installing al of the electrical components and the queue line and have time to test the ride (which is a pretty innovative ride so it will probably require a decent amount of testing). I don't want to sound pessimistic, the ride looks amazing and I can't wait to ride it... but there's no way this ride will be ready in 2 weeks. Edit: And I know you never claimed it would be, you're just stating that the park is very confident about it.

Favorite Drop From Each Park
coasterbill replied to GoBears's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I eliminated some parks that I haven't been to in awhile, small parks or that have extremely obvious answers due to only having one star attraction. I've also eliminated Skycoasters as that would win in every park that has a skycoaster. Busch Gardens Tampa - Kumba's first drop Busch Gardens Williamsburg - Mach Tower Canobie Lake Park - Untamed's first drop Carowinds - Intimidator's first drop Cedar Point - Millennium Force's first drop Dollywood - Mystery Mine's final drop (honorable mention to Tennessee Tornado's first drop). Dorney - Demon Drop Great Escape - Comet's first drop Hersheypark - Storm Runner's first drop (is it bad that I almost said Coal Cracker, because I almost did... and yes I have ridden Skyrush) Islands of Adventure - Hulk's first drop Kings Dominion - Drop Tower (honorable mention to Intimidator 305) Kings Island - Drop Tower Knoebels - StratosFEAR Knott's Berry Farm - Xcellerator's first drop Lake Compounce - Boulder Dash's first drop Sea World Orlando - Manta's first drop Six Flags America - Superman's first drop Six Flags Great Adventure - El Toro's first drop (honorable mention to every other drop on El Toro) Six Flags Magic Mountain - Lex Luthor Six Flags New England - Goliath's first drop Universal Studios Florida - Rip Ride Rockit's non inverting loop drop -

I saw your screenshots on New Element and left a comment there also, but this park needs a lot of work. First of all the reason the image didn't post is probably because it's a .bmp. What I would do is just take the images from NE as they convert it to a .png for you, download them and then upload them here BUT since you only have 2 images there you'll need one more as the mimum here (correct me if I'm wrong mods) is three unless you post in the preview thread. Anyway as far as the park, you clearly ran out of room. The entire right side of the park (based on the overview) is condensed and Mind Eraser is only not there because there's no room for it. The park has google street view available, I'd suggest building a bigger map and making use of that and you'll end up with something much more accurate. Since you've only spent 9 game years on it so far it wouldn't be a big loss to expand the map in the scenario editor and then re-do some of the right side. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Stupid question... how long does it usually take to process a season pass at Kings Island? We're going to go out there for Memorial Day weekend and plan on getting there a little early to do this. I know generally the process is very efficient at Cedar Fair parks but I haven't done it at Kings Island before. -
While I know all of these posts weren't only directed at me (I never compared the park to Wal Mart, I love Great Adventure) but I do want to mention a few things. You're right about Great Adventure having awesome rides and being an awesome park, but there are some complaints that I feel are justified. I'm not implying that the cons outweigh the pros because they don't... but they're still things that I'd like to see addressed. 1) You're right about Great Adventure being a coaster park... but if that's the case then I wish they'd take better care of their coasters. A lot of people have been complaining about Nitro's C train running like complete crap and they're completely justified in doing so. It's been 2 years now and they still haven't fixed the problem, it's only getting worse and it's annoying that it's reached the point where when we're in the station we need to find people to ride ahead of us to make sure we don't end up on that train. Non-enthusiasts are complaining about the ride when they get off... it's not just typical enthusiast whining. 2) Bizarro's crew has been terrible for 3 years now, so I think it's reasonable to assume that this isn't just because it's early in the season. I think there's a difference between checking restraints slowly and stacking trains because you're all standing around laughing and having a conversation until the ride is already triple stacked and then finally starting to check the restraints. This happens on almost every cycle. If they're going to do this I'd prefer they just run 2 trains because all running 3 trains accomplishes is making sure people spend a really long time sitting on the brakes. Like I said before most of the crews are really good, and some crews are awesome (El Toro, Batman and of course the Skyride... I have no idea how those people do it), overall it's a compliment... but the Nitro and Bizarro crews are pretty bad. I'll give the Nitro crew the benefit of the doubt but this is an every year thing with the Bizarro crew.

In terms of intensity, it might not be that same as Skyrush or storm runner but I assume (as I haven't been on it) that it's more forceful than Fahrenheit, which is really fun, just not very intense. But if you take into account things like length, then it might also beat storm runner (even though that's an awesome ride). Personally I think that depends where you sit. Skyrush is more intense than Kumba, but Skyrush is more intense than pretty much everything. I think if you ride Kumba near the front of the train (where it's still awesome) it's not as intense as Storm Runner but if you ride Kumba in the back, especially on the right side of the train Kumba will try to kill you (in a good way). Kumba in any seat is more intense than Farenheit. Obviously that's just my opinion though. I have both Storm Runner and Kumba in my top 10 (out of over 200 coasters) so they're both great as far as I'm concerned.

Everything looks great... but is it bad that I'm most excited about Chickie and Pete's? Those Crabfries are amazing. -

This has nothing to do with coasters but how much time are you spending at Yellowstone? I recommend a minimum of 2 full days because between the amazing landscapes and animal life it's one of the most amazing places in America. As far as credits go, is there a reason you're skipping Knott's? Also, I recommend visiting the Santa Monica pier one night when you're in the LA area. Not only do they have a credit but it's a nice place to spend a little time and have a nice dinner. This looks like an epic trip! Have a great time. -

I agree with this. I305 has a ridiculous drop but I like El Toro's better. Then when you factor in lap bars versus over the shoulder restraints it's no contest. Personally my favorite part of i305 isn't the drop, but the Maverick style transitions. They're just flat out insane. Still... both El Toro and I305 are world class rides so I feel ridiculous nit-picking... but you need to when you're comparing them because they're both so awesome. -
Tracking coasters ridden

I still use Coaster Grotto... I'm living in the past. -
People like Kumba because of it's relentless intensity. All of the other coasters you mentioned (except Hulk I guess) are not very forceful rides. They're smooth, comfortable and have interesting layouts but they lack the fast transitions and high g forces that Kumba has. Really I guess it comes down to personal taste. If you want a ride that's flowing, smooth and has some cool extras like Sheikra's splash down and holding brake, or if you prefer hypercoasters over looping coasters than Kumba won't be your cup of tea... but if you like G forces and ripping through element after element to the point where you're completely disoriented, then Kumba (specifically in the back row) is miles ahead of those other coasters.

Maybe if Cedar Fair never wants a return on their investment. I'd imagine an original RMC would cost a pretty penny. Silver Dollar City afforded one and their attendance can't be more than Dorney Park. I'd also imagine that Allentown is a little more populated than Branson. You can't really look at Dorney's overall attendance though when you're comparing it to other parks because their main draw is the waterpark. Personally I don't see why Cedar Fair would invest any substantial amount of money into a new coaster for Dorney. The coasters never have lines and usually have a lot of empty rows on each train. It's like this almost every day of the year, even on Saturdays in October. The big draws in this park are the waterpark rides and flat rides, both of which are much cheaper than coasters. I feel like the park already tried taking a leap of faith on some expensive custom coasters in the early to mid 2000's with Hydra and Talon and a little earlier with Steel Force and clearly they didn't attract the coaster fans enough to generate any lines. I'd love to see them get a new coaster but they're probably content to play to their strengths and mix in a relocated coaster every once in awhile when the opportunity becomes available.

Personally I might ride Goliath first since it's very unreliable and doesn't usually run in the rain. I know Bizarro is tempting but it's very reliable save for a few short breakdowns throughout the day. Goliath isn't at all so if you want the credit and it's open when you get there I'd consider doing it first. They do have a single rider line if you don't mind being split up but you have to enter through the regular line and it splits off about halfway through the queue building.

This is looking great. It's nice to see another Windseeker being built... I really enjoy them. -
^ Since I'm not a ride operator I don't pretend to know the intricacies of ride operation but I do know that for the first 5 or so years after that coaster opened trains generally dispatched as the train on the course was somewhere near the mid course brake run. Since no new restraints have been added and since loose article policies have become stricter over time (and for awhile the ride has 2 less seats to check per train) it's frustrating to see how the ride is operated now. It seems to an outsider that If anything the crews should be faster now than they were when the ride opened. If you do get a chance to work there though I'm sure you'll help things along a little. I'm always amazed by the El Toro crew... you guys do a great job getting trains in and out and everyone there seems to really enjoy their job which absolutely comes across to the guests. It also seems like El Toro is one of the most irritating coasters to run since it's so sensitive about lap bar positions. On every other coaster you lock and check the restraints and that's usually it. On El Toro you have to lock and check the restraints, then wait for the person at the panel to give you the car numbers that haven't verified yet (which because of the nature of the ride is usually at least 2 or 3 of them) and after you check those then finally you can dispatch the train. You guys make the Bizarro crew look worse than they already look because they don't have to deal with any of that and they're still ALWAYS slow. They do have 4 across trains to deal with... but I'd rather have that than those El Toro lap bar sensors. Edit: And as far as the last part of your post goes, I'm very grateful for Great Adventure. It's far from perfect but they have an amazing collection of coasters.
