  1. ^^I'm not really suggesting they bring it back... while I do feel that it was the second best coaster in the park when they removed it I know it's not like they can just bring it back now and try to market it. I'm just pointing out that I really don't understand why they did it in the first place. Not only is Stinger a bad ride, but it's been a maintenance nightmare. Laser was neither of those things.
  2. At least in Bizarro's case I assure you that this conversation will be going on in August. It's been this way for 3 years now. It always gets the worst ride ops on the park.
  3. I agree, they should replace this unreliable, rough piece of crap with something reliable and smooth. Oh... wait.
  4. You're right, but regardless it's still a new revenue stream. I would think they're still getting a substantial amount of money from those lockers. Again... I'm not complaining about them as I understand that any business would look for new revenue streams, I'm just saying that I feel like the PR spin is nonsense.
  5. I feel like it's exactly in line with what the park wants... which is to make money. Everything they said about speeding up the loading process is just their PR spin on it because they can't just come out and say "we found another way to make more money off of our guests" (even though they're a business and there's really nothing wrong with that). If they were so concerned with efficiency that they decided they had to implement this new policy to make the lines move faster then they most likely wouldn't stand for such crappy operations on the rides that have lockers. Nitro and Bizarro both have lockers and their operations have been embarrassingly bad this year (well... Bizarro is terrible every year). If those rides were at a park like Cedar Point where they actually cared about efficiency on every coaster not named Mantis and Iron Dragon they would be putting out trains at a much faster rate even with guests having to store items on the platform. There's no way efficiency is a big concern at Six Flags because if it was they wouldn't stand for some of what's been going on this year. **Oh, and because I hate to make overly negative posts I do feel the need to point out once again that the crews on many rides (Especially Batman and El Toro and the Skyride) are awesome. Slow operations are not a park wide problem but they're really bad on the rides I mentioned before.
  6. Overall it's definitely Forbidden Journey at IOA, but if I eliminated Disney and Universal I'd say Mystery Mine at Dollywood.
  7. This really can't be stressed enough. It's absolutely what sets the park apart (though I do prefer their coaster lineup too). Both Busch Gardens parks are excellent though.
  8. There are never crowds at Dorney. Every coaster will be a walk on. Don't get Fast Lane, it's a complete waste of money and won't save you any time at all because no line will ever be beyond the merge point. If it saves you any time it will be about 5 minutes tops on the log flume and the mouse.
  9. That's an understatement. I consider Apollo to be a very forgettable, uneventful B&M and Kumba to be the best B&M I've ever ridden. It's incredibly intense and every element is flat out awesome.
  10. It did, and I may be wrong but I think it was the same train.
  11. I agree... I'd rather they take it off and run 2 trains if they had to than run that train (especially since they stack all 3 anyway). Everyone including non-enthusiasts is complaining about the ride when they get off that train.
  12. The pretzels at the shop in Germany. Don't even think about buying a pretzel anywhere else in the park. I second this.
  13. I just wanted to mention a few other things I mentioned yesterday now that I'm not exhausted... 1) Strangely Bizarro had a really long line yesterday. We actually skipped it because of this but I was really happy to see the ride getting some love. 2) Nitro's crews were horrendous yesterday. They're normally some of the best in the park but they were triple stacking on every cycle. Also, as I mentioned above... if you ride it avoid train C. 3) We did the Safari for the first time since it's opening weekend which was a disaster and we absolutely loved it. The line was only 30 minutes and we probably spent a good 2 1/2 hours on it. It's a really great experience. 4) El Toro really needs some track work in the valleys (especially before the turnaround) as it's starting to get a little rough (nothing too bad yet but hopefully they do some work on it before it gets much worse). To avoid this... ride it in the middle row of any car and you'll have a really smooth ride. Riding in the front or back of any car will result in some roughness though. 5) Apparently the park has some new lion cubs out in Camp Aventura. The female cub is the cutest little thing in the history of ever. If you get a chance, you have to go out there soon and see these cubs. 6) For some reason, Batman had no line yesterday while Nitro had a 30 minute wait (usually Batman's line is at least down the stairs). Because of this we got 3 rides in the front within a span of about 30 minutes. Batman was running OMFG insane yesterday... I've always said it was the smoothest coaster in the park (though no ride in the park is rough except for Green Lantern and Nitro in train C) and it's still riding as smooth as glass but it was tearing through the course last night. What an amazing, underrated ride. 7) Yet again, the park was running both sides of the Skyride which they never used to do. Kudos to Six Flags for doing this as it really helps capacity.
  14. when I rode Nitro at coasters after dark, I dodnt remember what train it was, but I was in the 2nd to last row, and had the worst ride ever. it was so bumpy, and it felt like the row was being rocked side to side, horrible. must have been something with that train and row, because the other few rides I rode, was nothing like that. We figured this out today in exactly the same row. It's train C. The train letter is on the side of each row... trains A and B are great, but by the end of the day we ended up letting people go ahead of us to make sure we weren't in train C. The non-enthusiast friends we were with got off saying that the ride really hurt (they were right) and after awhile we figured out that the secret was to avoid train c... if you do that you'll be fine.
  15. What an idiot. Riding rides backwards is just a stupid thing people do to draw attention to themselves with minimal effort even though the ride experience would be perfectly fine if ridden forwards. I can see why Six Flags is against this. (the guy is an idiot by the way, but I had to get a little dig in at SFMM)
  16. The Gemini Midway is really starting to come together. Decorative pieces have been put up on the side of Pipe Scream and Monster looks great with it's new colors.
  17. I'll believe it when I see it. The track is far from done and they want it to be open in less than a month? It doesn't even have a first drop yet, and given the amount of electrical work they probably need to do and the testing they need to do I'd take that date with a grain of salt.
  18. I think it's so cool that this park still has a Chaos ride. It's amazing to think that a ride that could be found at almost every park in America around 1999-2000 is now an extremely rare ride to have.
  19. Great pictures. I can't wait to get back to this park.
  20. You know what would make me happy in this part of the Gatekeeper line? A canopy. That would make me much happier than this TV network. It amazes me that the part of the Gatekeeper queue that's almost always full that takes you about 30 minutes to get through is completely in the sun with no relief whatsoever but the parts of the queue that are almost always empty have shade and nice views of the lake.
  21. Yes... it's possible, but not easy. If you don't mind losing your rides and re-building them but keeping the trees and scenery (or in this case since it's a SFA re-creation... your un-mowed grass and huge paths with no shade, trees or scenery) you can use the scenario editor. Otherwise if you're savvy (which I'm not) you can do a little hex editing. Here is a great thread on it on New Element.
  22. Blasphemy. Nobody should ever ditch RCT2.
  23. I was very surprised at how early everything closed in Williamsburg. If you get there late at night... you'll be eating at Wawa (not that that's ever a bad thing). Even most of the Fast Food places close early.
  24. I guess I just don't get it with Mean Streak. The ride is undoubtedly terrible and rough, but I never thought it was "one of the roughest coasters ever" rough. I feel like a lot of the hatred for this ride is because it's at such a high profile park. If it were anywhere else I think it would just be considered another forgettable, rough, bad coaster. I think something like Gwazi (for example) is much, much worse. Oh well, to each his own.
  25. While I agree that this is ridiculous, the fact that the person who was complaining about the inconvenience of sitting on a seatbelt buckle is commenting on people that are complaining about paint choices is making my brain hurt.
