Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We still go through the front gate sometimes for early entry. It may not be strategic but it makes a grand entrance, especially when they time the gatekeeper flyover with the national anthem. -
Wait wait wait, they're re-opening the waterpark??? Why would anyone go there when they could just go to the waterpark up the road at Waldameer and NOT get Ebola? Anyway I'm glad they came up with yet another plan to re-organize deck chairs on the Titanic. I'm sure it'll work out way better this time.

The long anticipated Boldikus Georgia trip report is finally here and it didn't disappoint. This park is definitely on my bucket list and it sounds like it really is a great place. Glad you had fun! My only suggestion for your next trip report would be more skyway pictures and a little less non-skyway pictures. Lol jk -
Most "Rated" Coaster?

Every standup coaster... I expect them all to be pure, unrivaled s**t and they always deliver on those expectations. -

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
coasterbill replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kings Dominion has trees, bathrooms and paint. They win by default. Also Kings Dominion is underrated in terms of aesthetics in general. It's a beautiful park. Six Flags America is ugly as sin. The rides are obviously much better at KD too. Both coaster-wise and otherwise. -

I'd comment, but anything I have to say would probably be a violation of the TPR terms of service. -
Went to the park yesterday and had a great time, nothing much to note except that Bizarro was running the best I've ever seen it run (not operations wise, they were awful) but it hauled through the course. Also I got to see the "maintenance magic" they do on El Toro when it's cold and they don't want to send an empty train at the end of the night. They basically call maintenance when the last loaded train is on the brakes, roll an empty train barely out of the station but still on a drive tire, stop it, roll us in, then roll that back to transfer and roll the other one back into the station. That was cool to watch, I had no idea they could do that.

Minebuster really needs to die. I feel like any land clearing around it though is probably waterpark related. -

I imagine this to be a pretty typical dispatch rate. They'll roll trains like it's an olympic sport. They're Cedar Point, it's what they do. -

They'll move it before they test it. -

Road trip to Six Flags Mexico then? If we had the money and the vacation time to road trip to Six Flags Mexico we absolutely would. -

If the Carowinds or Great America addition proves to be successful then I think it's very likely they'll expand the concept to the other unused 3d theaters in the chain. -

Oh if we're talking about how long I "would drive" to ride a coaster, there's no limit on that. If we have the time off and it looks like it would be fun then keep calm and road trip on. -
Yes, and I love it. It's probably the best coaster in Orlando (though besides the pretzel not overly intense) but I've also been on Kraken. Maybe we'll be impressed, I'm just saying we should have realistic expectations. Even a mediocre B&M hyper is a very good ride, and if it exceeds or expectations then that's even better.

Are you sure you're on the right website? Their coaster lineup consists of an old Arrow, a vekoma hang and bang, a boomerang and a horrific wood coaster. The only 2 good coasters seem to be Ride of Steel and a portable Zamperla family coaster. They've also got a bunch of abandoned waterpark attractions and an abandoned mini golf course lying around. I mean... I'm not saying it's a terrible park but, "meh".

Looks like there's a bunch of activity at the park today getting ready for the new season. Putting cars back on Witches Wheel and testing Windseeker. Love watching the park come back to life. PS: I'm quite the Windseeker fan. Yup... I'm the guy. -
Marathon riding?
coasterbill replied to AllisonY2K's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We rode Nitro for an hour and a half without getting off with Boldikus on January 3rd in sub-freezing temps. That has to be my favorite marathon session ever. -

I could get to Quassy or Rye Playland in about an hour but Playland is a dive and we rarely go to Quassy though we should really correct that because Wooden Warrior is wonderful. We're about an hour and a half from Lake Compounce but we don't go there a ton. As far as parks we visit frequently, we're 2 Hours from Six Flags New England, 2 Hours and 15 minutes from Six Flags Great Adventure and 2 Hours and 15 minutes from Dorney. I really consider Great Adventure to be my home park.
