  1. Hersheypark has removed their atrocious Whip. If you're tempted to kind-of care because you assume that it's a classic, it was built new in 1997 and it absolutely sucks.

  2. You know as well as I do (and the rest of the y'all wackadoos here) that the turntable will be used for the first year until they take one boat into permanent "maintenance" (read - parts bitch) and they're stuck with one boat that still needs to be spun around every single cycle, resulting in even longer cycle times and lower capacity. It's the Six Flags Way*. That being said, we also all know that when your ride is complete you're still going to be sitting in the boat for five minutes until they finally check and clear the second boat to rotate you back into the station. It's the Six Flags Way*. * - Does not apply to SFFT.

  3. So I did a thing yesterday at SeaWorld San Antonio - after going for Mardi Gras and having way too many Hurricanes (and excellent food) as I said on the FB group, they *probably* shouldn't let drunk adults name their own Build A Bear. I present to you: Hornyhead Sharp they threw in the little backpack/carrier (the arms poke thru!!) and yes, my happy ass took him on the Carousel too

  4. This is one of those “addition by subtraction” situations. It’s a win even IF we weren’t getting an RMCed Wildcat.

  5. ^ yup. . in our swing thru Penn. years ago, Hershey's WHIP ranked absolutely bottom of the barrel (I recall Dorney has one, and even THAT one was better). the best thing I can say about Hersheypark's whip, was the operator was really cool the time I went there in 2018 (she was kinda goth, and posed for a pic for me when I asked)

  6. And the both boats will have plenty of open seats since there's no grouper and the ROs are only allowed to open the gates for 3 seconds.

  7. Please enlighten me how the Disney Springs M&Ms store adding characters based on Mars chocolate characters has anything to do with Hersheypark?

  8. ^Yup, heard the rumors. I think it would be a good thing at this point.

  9. I think the biggest reason for the delay was originally they weren't going to include the turntable (which would be horrendous dispatch times) and after they got to building it Six Flags was like yeah go ahead and give us the turntable after all so then they had to wait on the turntable from the manufacturer, good idea to include it but stupid to decide not to include it from the get go.

  10. Hershey's whip was terrible. I'm certain the antique cars were faster and pulled more Gs.

  11. Hey now, I've been on Pulsar at Walibi Wavre. These things are WAY better than any Shoot The Chutes ride I've been on. I would happily marathon a Powersplash any day while I would happily walk right by a Shoot The Chutes. I say this after I almost didn't ride Pulsar because I was being a pansy about getting wet. I was essentially shamed into going on the ride because I was afraid my socks and underwear would get squishy. Pulsar ended up being one of the highlights of that entire Europe trip and it has a refreshing splash rather than a "soak you to the bone" splash. If you want to get drenched you go stand next to the splashdown pool, but if you're in the boat you get a very fun thrill, a surprising amount of airtime, and a nice splish of water to cool you down. SFOT still sucks, though.

  12. Anyone else hearing the rumor of Universal buying PortAdventura and being involved in the park again?

  13. the Alpine Sleighs were one of the original rides at the park and was a dark ride / powered coaster type ride. I loved the hell out of it. . but it got shut down in, I think, 1984. they turned the inside of the structure into part of the Children's Adventure area - with foam bags, and ropes courses and crap for several years, and then part of it was incorporated into Batman's Queue when it opened, so you passed thru the mountain on the way to Gotham City. there's no POV of it that I can find, but several parts of it can be seen in various videos on youtube (search for Alpine Sleigh Ride Astroworld)

  17. There has been some progress since my last update. Exit/giftshop A small sneak peak of how the Restrooms will look like under the tarpaulin. How it will look like when finished. Scaffoldings are up and now the building of the Station has begun.

  18. didn't want to start a new thread for these, so instead resurrecting an older trip report someone posted But I just got these incredible posters last weekend (2'x3') and picked up frames for them today. VERY pleased with how great they look.

  19. I mean, a live blog is providing commentary to something as it takes place with short updates. That is literally what they are doing. Providing regular updates of the construction progress.

  20. Visited American Dream on Sunday and had a really nice day! Did the Nick Park, Dreamworks Water Park, and got Mr. Beast Burger (for the child). Was surprised at how much was actually open on a Sunday with their bizarre Jersey laws! I definitely think the place is now worth a real full day visit!
