  1. Uhhh... Wut? That's like saying nobody eats at the Chick-fil-A at Cedar Point or King's Island because they charge double a normal one. Yet it typically has just as long of a line as Maverick next door, lol. Not many people leave the park to eat. It's more convenient to pay an extra $6 than to leave the park, for most (not all) people.

  2. LOL, you have ZERO clue what you are speaking about. Typically, when a company enters into a contract to build something, the manufacturer, contaractor, ect puts a lean against the park for collateral. This ensures the they are less likely to get screwed by a park not paying. That lean isn't released till the debt is paid. That is what loans are for, if you don't have the cash on hand. This is what likely happened and why the rides didn't open. SW lost their operating income and possibly didn't have cash, or could not / chose not to get loans to cover those payments. Once the payment was made, the lean was released, and the rides could open. It is not good business for any company to do what you're describing. Furthermore, you have ZERO insight into how Disney and Vekoma have structured their contracts. Or if there was any lapse in payment (and I seriously doubt there was) I am a vendor for Disney, and I sell them a shit ton of metal every day. They continued to pay on all their bills from me through the entire pandemic. So it seems unlikely that they would have not paid their favorite attraction manufacturer, if they continued to pay me.

  3. Let me know when you think of any B&M ever produced that was a 'mechanical nightmare'... I'll wait. When B&M does something, they spend the time/money to do it right on the design/engineering front. There is -zero- concern from parks spending coin on B&M that there is a risk of things being unreliable or be a 'mechanical nightmare'.

  4. Im sure they don't care. Obviously the banks didn't lose faith in them which is all that matters. I mean you tried to use their ability to raise billions in funding as a negative. I don't think it's me that is clouded. Like I said I didnt know they tried to buy CF. Six Flags is a better fit for SeaWorld because they can get access to DC comics characters which is what they really need to compete with Disney. You know someone learns about net 30 and suddenly they are a Rothschild. Paying the people that deliver shredded lettuce to the qdoba someone works at doesn't give the payer a full scope of the economy.

  5. ^ If the park had any balls they'd make the entire building frigid and have fake blizzard conditions throughout the layout.

  6. We've officially left planet Earth and are somewhere orbiting Pluto at this point. What's with people suddenly knowing more about the intimate details of purchase agreements and operations of mega-corporations than the people actually running said mega-corporations? You're a customer. You won't convince anyone how to run their park. Just, you know, stop.

  9. It's a sit-down train with OTS lap bars, similar to a Mack train, but the actual seats have shock absorbers that allow them to float up and down for added silliness on hills. That's according to (supposed) leaks, at least, so take it with a grain of salt until anything's comfirmed.

  10. Ah yes. The B&M surf coaster pulls into the station and you sit down as per the normal then a mechanical arm raises you up and flies you to the beach for some gnarly surf waves and chicken tenders.

  11. One of the rides are already on site a chance wipeout) and the area should have a flight theme. I love how they are actually emphasizing the theme aspect of the areas vs just throwing in rides. Guess it's easy to theme a park with such rich history. The park said, long ago, that the people have spoken and the people want more flats and that is what they seem to be installing now. It went from a handful to this. I am impressed.

  12. Lol..... Kings Dominion Compromises: “We’ll keep the Rebel Yell name, but the trains will only go backwards” Posted by Anderson Tilley DOSWELL, Va. — Following a significant amount of public criticism regarding the changing of its name, the Kings Dominion roller coaster Racer 75 will revert to its original name Rebel Yell, but the trains on both tracks will only go backward, park sources confirmed this morning. “It was a tough decision, made with the utmost consideration,” Matthew Antezana, a spokesperson for the amusement park, stated in a recent press release. “However, we believe we’ve struck a compromise that will appease everyone.” Originally named Rebel Yell for the infamous cry of the Confederate soldier charging into battle, in February 2018 Kings Dominion renamed the coaster Racer 75 as an homage to both a roller coaster enthusiast group and the year the ride debuted. Up until 2008, the trains on one side of the track ran backward, which, according to Antezana, fans of the coaster have been clamoring for ever since. “Everyone’s always asking ‘will they ever make the ride go backward again?’” Antezena said. “We hope this move will excite all of our clientele, both those that wanted the ride to go backward and those who wanted the name to return to Rebel Yell for its underlying Confederate heritage. Now guests can once again enjoy the sensation of moving backward along the tracks as well as traveling backward in progress, which we think is fitting given the direction the country is going in.” “Why go forward with things when we could go backward, instead?” he asked. Antezana also revealed that Racer 75 wasn’t the only potential name or concept discussed for the iconic ride. “We briefly toyed with the idea of telling people that it had, in actuality, been named for the Billy Idol song all this time. We had a whole publicity campaign ready to launch featuring the chorus of ‘more, more, more,’ but we think this compromise suited us better,” Antezana stated. Another scrapped idea for the ride involved traveling backward through time to a mid-20th century setting. “We considered switching the name back to Rebel Yell but modifying the ride with a time travel theme where guests would disembark from the coaster and we would tell them it’s the pre-Civil War era, there’s no vaccination for polio, and children worked 70 hour weeks in factories for next to nothing. Since that seems to be the era some of the country wants to revert to, we may try it out on the Grizzly next year.” Kings Dominion hopes that its example is one that the rest of the state can follow in making decisions about these naming conventions for years to come. “This seemed like the perfect solution,” Antezana continued. “We try to make incremental baby steps in order to meet the bare minimum of decency. And if that doesn’t work, we’ll just bring something back from years ago and go backward. Honestly, that should probably be the Commonwealth’s motto at this point.” When asked if the topic of Confederate monuments and symbols being removed across the country influenced the park’s recent decisions, Antezana assured us that the company valued the opinions of the park’s patrons, before immediately changing the topic to the park’s Eiffel Tower replica. “Hey, by the way, have you seen our fake Eiffel Tower? I love it! It looks kind of like the one in Paris, right? What a great concept!”

  13. I can't wait to try the mac and cheese bowls. My daughter will be very happy about this. I don't think twice about the names but agree with posters that any make over of a ride is a good thing. I was mentioning to my family about the name change and instead of saying "Apple Zapple" I blurted out "Yapple Dapple". I loved the genie cartoon as a kid and it just came out.

  14. I think what this name change has done in drawn attention to the fact that the name was offensive, if not racist, all along, even if we didn't realize it. A rebel yell is literally a confederate battle cry, and in 1975, that's exactly what it was a reference to. If people didn't realize it, or they thought of the Billy Idol song (which came out in '83), it really doesn't change the fact of its offensiveness. The new name is more inclusive, and it's a good thing. At the end of the day, the name's not that important, as long as it's not offensive. They could rename The Beast to "Indoor Cat," and it would still be the classic coaster it always was.

  15. Okay, I super love Apple Zapple. That is awesome. As for Racer 75....eh, not in love with it. I do heartily approve of the de-Confederatizing of everything, especially near the Confederate capital. Loving Dolly Parton's Stampede too. So the answer is 152 years to the question "How long will it take the South to realize they lost?"

  16. First of all, Apple Zapple is the greatest coaster name ever so learn to embrace it and let Apple Zapple into your heart. Second of all, what the f*ck are you on about?
