thrillrider
Our next park was quite a treat. Quassy park was a great little park that had a fun selection of rides. We scored big, as we were visiting on a Friday night and the park was offering 50 cent ride tickets. I really enjoyed the mix of old school rides and new rides. Wooden warrior was a fun coaster with probably the most comfortable restraints on any coaster I have been on. Why don't more coasters utilize this style of train and restraints? The park was buisy, but the ride crews kept the lines moving. This is a park that I would definitely stop by again in the future. There was a guy walking around in a quassy polo shirt and walkie talkie that I assumed was the owner. He was engaged with people, and really seemed to care about the park. I'm not sure about the history of the park, but it seems to have been around for a while. This park has a ride that I passed on because it looked like a puke inducing torture device. More on that later. We did not get there untill it was starting to get dark, so I apologize if the pictures seem a little dark. This afternoons entertainment is brought to you by... So...with our 50 cent tickets in hand, where would we go first? Lots of choices Love a non corporate midway. Our first stop. Was really looking forward to riding this, and it was as much fun as I imagined it would be. Rules and stuff We were loving the signs while in line. Fun ride. It just shows you that a coaster does not have to be 500 feet tall to be fun. Cumfy seats! Reverse time is the parks newest addition, and a lot of fun to boot. Under Over This park is home to many rides. Let's take a look at some of them. Old school slide Beautiful carousel This is the one ride I had to skip. It had puke machine written all over it. Inside the carousel house, they had a model of wooden warrior. Wooden warrior was not the parks only coaster. Quassy is also home to a classic Allen hershal(sp?) Kiddy coaster. Took the kids on this, and they loved it. This park had plenty of rides for the little ones as well. The yoyo had a beautiful light package. Music fest Classic Bumper cars The tilt a whirl lights were so bright, it was hard to get a clear picture. From a distance Every time I walked by the paratrooper, it was loading. A night shot of the slide Stairs to the top of the slide. Sunset Is this a new slide or something? It was on display in an office window. Crazy cups Didn't go into the waterpark. But here is one of the slides from the parking lot. It was good to see buisy midways at this family run park. They even have a playground for the kids to burn off some energy. Thats all from quassy. Hope to return here again in the future. Next park is coming up soon...
Canobie Coaster
Great report! How busy was it for bargain night? I went once back when it was 25 cents per ride and that Big Flush water slide had a line to the bottom of the stairs and the midways were completely swamped. It was hard to tell where lines began. As for Frantic, they actually tamed down the cycle. It used to run for 3ish minutes. On my ride this year, it was half that.
thrillrider
The crowds were pretty heavy. We had to wait roughly 15 min in line for wooden warrior, and maybe 2 cycles for the flat rides. There were a lot of people milling around. They also had a band playing out on the water, and that area was buisy as well. We never made it into the waterpark, but it seemed quite buisy. Frantic looked like fun, but my belly wasn't 100% so I passed
pfalcioni
Quassy looks like such a neat little family park! It's the kind of place I dreamed of having nearby when I was a kid.
thrillrider
Quassy looks like such a neat little family park! It's the kind of place I dreamed of having nearby when I was a kid. I agree! We could have spent all day there.
Nrthwnd
Great Quassy TR! And I like it when parks utilize any space available for rides, like those two rides within the space that the kids' coaster goes around. That's "a Blackpool kind of thing" to me. Looks like a wonderful park, something I would enjoy just walking through. Thanks for sharing your visit there.

thrillrider
So our next park is six flags great adventure. We ended up spending nearly 3 days at this park, and never got bored. This park has a great selection of coasters and flat rides. There is also a really nice safari ride as well. With the exception of our first day at the park, the crowds were fairly light. This is exactly the reason I never purchase fast lane before arriving at a park. We never waited more than 10 min for a ride. Part of this had to do with the crazy hot weather. Someone said it was a heat index of 107. Even though we had a blast at this park, the heat took it's toll on us. After our time at this park, we decided to erase the last 3 days of our trip. The heat, plus blisters on our feet sealed the deal. This has to be one of our top 5 favorite coaster parks. The crews were hustling, the food selection was good, and the overall feel of the park is great. We were able to ride all the coasters multiple times, and also did the new cyborg ride. Here is our thoughts on the major rides... Nitro...always a great ride, one of my favorite hyper coasters. The back seemed to give more ejector air than the front. Batman...I love the Batman invert clones. Fun, and intense. Skull mountain...A fun indoor coaster. The back car was our favorite as is whipped you over the first drop. The air conditioning was a huge bonus as well. Dark knight... A fun indoor mouse type ride. This ended up being my son's first "bigger" coaster and he loved it. The joker...This joker ride was the last of this type of ride in the states that I had yet been on. It did not disappoint. We got multiple flips. El toro... Still one of my top 5 coasters after all of these years. Still running great, with loads of airtime. I did notice a few rough spots in the track, but did not notice them every ride...weird. Kinda ka....Did they do some work on this Ride? Last time I rode it, it was bumpy. This time around, it was pretty smooth. Always a fun ride. Bizzaro...A decent floorless coaster with some fun theaming. Superman ultimate flight...Im not a huge fan of flying coasters, but really enjoyed this one. Got to experience this ride durring the coke party. Green lantern....My least favorite kind of coaster. I rode this coaster a few years back and thought it was ok, but had to skip it this time around due to a foot issue. Runaway mine train...Only did this coaster once...that was enough. Harley Quinn.... fairly tame coaster, but fun. This ride must have the world's longest coaster train. Road runner railway...ouch is all i can say about this kiddy coaster. It was also the only coaster where I was told that I could not wear my glasses on(even with straps). Cyborg....interesting ride. We had a good ride with roughly 15-20 flips. Not as nauseating as I thought it was going to be. Sky swings...only rode once, but was able to experience it durring the fireworks! Safari....We were really impressed with the job they did with this attraction. It was almost on par with the safari at animal kingdom. The ranger station stop in the middle of the ride would have been more enjoyable if it wasn't 100 degrees out, and we didn't have to wait a long time to get back into the truck after our visit. Zoomanjaro... My new favorite drop ride. Omg! The only down side is the super long walk to get to it. With that said, onto the pictures.... Our home for the next 3 days. Front entrance gates On the main midway, looking right at the joker coaster. Our first stop was the golden kingdom to check out the safari. Made good use of our skip the line pass. The trucks are nearly identical to the safari trucks at Disney's animal kingdom. Here are just a few of the shots I took on the safari. Right next to the safari ride, it the log flume. With the weather, we ended up riding this multiple times. First time on one of these Nice light package It's bark is worse than it's bite. El diablo Bad ass sign! The parachute tower was a favorite of my kids. History and stuff.... Best coaster on the east coast! I bet nobody else has this shot. Remenants of the racing coaster still remain under el toro. Lots more coming from six flags great escape.
boldikus
Great photos, does a nice job of making the park look good lol. In all seriousness when there last week we noted how lush and green and grown in everything looks right now.

thrillrider
I have so many pictures from this park, so I am breaking it down into 3 updates. Here is part 2...enjoy. Skull mountain The rides line is inside a well. Station shot Zoomanjaro shares kingda kas tower. Looking up the tower Some of the buildings in this park are really theamed well. The carousel building This is one of the parks restaurants. They had awesome fried chicken btw. And the air conditioning felt great on a hot day....at least my son thought so The park had these water sprayers located around the park to help beat the heat. The dark knight coasters pre show with Harvey Dent. Fun coaster. Would have rode it a bunch of times in a row, but they make you sit thru the pre show every time. Coke was throwing a foam party several times a day. One night, we were able to score ert on superman, green lantern, go carts, parachute drop, top spin, and the sling shot for free with our diamond memberships. Here is a picture of the parks kiddy coaster...once and done. These joker coasters are popping up at most six flags parks. I'm not complaining, as these rides are a blast. It also looks great with fireworks going off behind it. The park had a really good fireworks display. I found this shirt funny. Bizarro floorless coaster. More pictures coming soon. So until then, I'll leave you with a picture of the parks turtles...Fred and Wilma.

Canobie Coaster
Great photos! You've definitely been busy posting, but not as busy as those two turtles. I know how you feel about the Dark Knight preshow, especially after I saw it in Spanish at Six Flags Mexico.
Sluggo77
Great report. I’ve gotten lucky on slow days when they let you skip the preshow. Even a few straight rerides but overall we really enjoy this park. We drove here from Coastermania and some extra time there and then spent two days here this year. Great Trip. thrillrider
Sorry about the delay on part 3...been a crazy week. I did throw some pictures from a trip to the park that I took several years ago as well. So here we go... I really enjoy this ride. Pre show prop This show was beyond terrible This show was good! The park has a decent collection of kids rides. The kids will also like the looney tunes Do they use this anymore? There is also another animal area The kids can feed the goats in this area Gaters! I was really impressed how clean and well kept the park was. They also had some great theaming. Here is the mine train station And the God awful restraints. Does anybody know if this is an old car from rolling thunder? El Toro greatness! Kingda ka construction area I "think" this ride was called tax twister, or something along those lines. If I remember, it used to be near Houdini. The log ride midway before the safari Medusa The scream machine Viper...now el toro's area You can see el toro's station used to be used for this togo death machine On behalf of Fred and Willma, I say goodbye from six flags great adventure. Stay tuned for the next update from Hershey chocolate world.

Canobie Coaster
Thanks for sharing some older photos of the park! I didn't get there until 2010, so I never got a chance to ride Great American Scream Machine or Viper. I definitely can't complain about the latter's replacement though.
