Sidekick2 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 As we all know Kings Dominion is gettin' a new roller coaster...BUT..Kings Dominion and Carowinds is also gettin a GO KART TRACK!!!! WOOOOO HOOOOOO!!!!!!!
Canobie Fan Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Its funny.. SF parks are all "boo take out the upcharges!" and at the same time Para is all "more more more!"
zaneymon Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Can we get a Woop Woop for upcharge rides! Woop Woop
pkdcoaster Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 No woop from me..go-carts at theme parks are a big waste of space unless they are free. JEFF
alpengeist04 Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Nothing like screwing up the park even more.
YoshiFan Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 No woop from me..go-carts at theme parks are a big waste of space unless they are free. Agreed, I think go karts and other upcharges like rock climbing walls belong in family fun center type places and not theme parks unless they are included in admission.
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I just hate walking by them and getting sick from all the fumes.
Carnage Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 The problem with Go-kart tracks in amusemant parks is that they are almost always really slow. Gotta go to the small places at the side of the road to find the fast go-karts.
Guy T. Koepp Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 They have a slick track down by the Home Depot Center here in Cali. It's awesome! Your front wheels have great traction and your back wheels are bald so you totaly fishtail around every turn. You have to be 18 with a liscense to drive there as the go carts are more like real miniature cars with manual transmissions and all. They go real fast too.
DerekRx Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Wonder if PKD will just block off more of the midway for the go-carts. They've already got plenty of blacktop down for them!
Imhotep Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 The best go-cart track Ive ever been to is SpeedZone in Dallas. They had this drag racing sim that was like GForce in old town, called Top Eliminator Dragster. Not as fast as GForce, but you get 3 'launches' for 12 bucks!! They also had a slick track, where I blew most of my money. They have a slick track down by the Home Depot Center here in Cali. It's awesome! I wonder if that place is also called SpeedZone? I see they have one in TX and one in CA
TheGreatOne Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 The problem with Go-kart tracks in amusemant parks is that they are almost always really slow. Exactly. To make up for it, parks should get more creative with their tracks. Mt. Olympus has done a good job of that. No one wants to drive a slow Go-Kart around a 1/100th replica of a NASCAR track. -Bryan "loved Medusa's Drop because of the triple-down" Wood

bgwfreak Posted April 2, 2006 Posted April 2, 2006 I was out at Carowinds today and the spot for "Thunder Raceway" (I think that's the official name) isn't very big. It's between Hurler and the Xtreme skyflyer and on the left side up against Hurler. So apparantley it's going to be a small oval or maybe they will build up. But I doubt it. Yeah go carts!
