Opinions on a hotel in Cedar Point area

I am trying to book my CP leg of my trip, and while I could stay at Breakers, I really dont have the need to leave midway through the day and dont like the idea of sleeping in a 100yr old hotel.

I have found great rates on Holiday Holidome...but get mixed reviews...Anyone here provide any insight?

Breakers Express is still CP-owned, just off the actual peninsula, and costs a lot less. Forget what the going rates are now, but it was something close to $60-70 for our May 14-15 trip last year. Plus, you get all the early entry benefits of Breakers.

(P.S. Go to the Soak City entrance, no matter what! )

I have stayed at the Breakers and it's pretty nice. OK, so it's 100 years old! There's the newer tower section you can stay in.

The Breakers Express is nice. It's like a very clean Holiday Inn.

Oh, and any CP-owed hotel gives you 30 minute early entry so you can ride the good stuff. MF and Dragster are open during that time. I believe Wicked Twister and Raptor are open too, but the open rides seem to change each year.

^ They've taken TTD off the early entry this year. I think the lineup is MF/Raptor/Skyhawk/Maxair this year.

I'll add another vote for Breakers Express.

Though if you really have the money to consider staying at Breakers why not try Sandcastle Suites? It's close to the same price, and isn't "100 years old".

Sorry, but what is Skyhawk? And I truly can't believe that they've removed TTD from the early entry list.

Breakers might be 100 years old, but it's really nice for a hotel of its age and is extremely close to the park. I had a perfect view of TTD, Gemini, and Magnum from my hotel room.

^ Skyhawk is the new S&S Screamin swing that Cedar Point is building.

I'm not surprised by TTD being removed from the early entry. Dragster really needs some quality warm up time. So running it early on cold/wet days would be hard.

Plus it probably doesn't impress guests to give them early entry only to find it broken down, or start late. You'd have happier guests if you give them early time on the rides that are a lock to open on time.

After some research and advice from the team at TPR I have just booked 3 nights at BE for August. My budget, early rides and the package deals were the clincher for me to book BE.

Yo Dandaman - The soak city entrance tip, is that possible if I am staying at BE? Can I park my car/van near that entrance?

The odd thing is, contrary to popular belief, TTD isn't a very hard ride to get on when it's running. If the coaster is running, it is one of the biggest people eaters in the park and moves people twice as fast as MF.

Yeah, it's simple to do.

Pull up to the far left parking booth. Tell them you're going to soak city/challenge park. They'll send you around no questions asked.

Oh and the BE packages should include a parking voucher.

If you have a 3-day package the parking voucher should be good for the length of your stay.

And I don't beleieve the marina entrance is much of an option.

If you have the resort early entry pass then where ever you enter is going to get you a few early rides.

I've found there really isn't any running of the bulls anymore. Not with the early entry.

If you're going to stay at the Breakers or Breakers Express, Cedar Point's Getaway Guide has some coupons. You can get $30 off per night at the Hotel Breakers or Sandcastle Suites. This is good from May 5 to May 26, 2006. You can get $10 off per night at the Breakers Express from May 5 to June 8, 2006 (excludes May 27-28), August 27 through Sept 1, Sept 8 & 9, and Sept. 15 & 16, 2006.

There are also coupons for Geauga Lake for $22.95 for up to 4 discounts from May 27 to Sept. 4, 2006.

The guide also has coupons for lots of other stuff at CP. There's even a $3 off admission to Michigan's Adventure. But there are no other coupons for other Cedar Fair parks.

You can get a Getaway Guide for free at www.cedarpoint.com

I´m in CP 11-12 May. Is it nessessary to book a cedar Point Hotel to enter earlier in this time of year?

I travel alone so i dont want to sleep in expencive hotels/ etc...

I´ve planned to stay in Motels roundabout 30-50$ or get I only dosshouse motels for this prices?

And the second: how long does the trip from New York to Sendusky take?

I land at 18:45 and will heading to Sendusky (I hope the jetleg will be not so hard, because I´m like a baby, I´m easy doze off when I cruise)

I'm guessing you're going to have to choose between cheap and close/early entry. I haven't been to Cedar Point, but speaking as a Motel 6 fan, there's a motel 6 in Sandusky/Milan about 10 miles away.

quote for May 11-13:

STANDARD QUEEN BED NON-SMOKING, DESK, 20" TV

Click 6 Internet Rate $42.49 USD

Standard Rate $49.99 USD

I have a stay booked at Lighthouse Point... and I'm quite excited. I've heard a lot of great things. The place can comfortably hold 5, or 6 a little less comfortably, so I've heard. But when you're going to CP it really isn't so important to stay at a luxury hotel. But, even when I stayed with three other people in an expensive Manhattan hotel I needed an air mattress, so, don't expect TOO much.

Lighthouse Point is definately an expensive option, not budget friendly, but you DO get quite a few perks. Firstly, you get early entrance, just as every CP-owned hotel. After doing early entrance, it just seems inferior not to go in early (you could get a season pass with Joe Cool club too, but... that doesn't always make sense). So, basically the advantages of LHP are... All the cabins and cottages have a microwave, fridge, and grill. (Some Breakers rooms have microwaves and fridges.) A lot of people like to make their own food when they go, because its cheap and easy. Of course, you could eat at the Point also. They also have a lot of space, made up of a kitchenette, two bedrooms (each with a TV... if that really matters), bathroom, and a deck. The cabin decks are not too much to get excited over, as they are only facing a manmade pond. What a lot of people REALLY like are the decks on the cottages, which face over Lake Erie.

I've heard a LOT of great stuff about Lighthouse Point, so I'll be going there this summer to check it out.

I HAVE been to Breakers, and I loved it. I requested a dragster view, which is just breathtaking. From there, I could see nearly the whole park. MF, TTD, Magnum, Power Tower, etc. I loved it. We had the TV in the room, but I had a lot better time watching the coasters test in the morning and looking at all the lights at night. The room had a fridge, which doesn't really matter too much, but plenty of people like that in their room. It's a place definately worth staying in. Basically it's an average-quality room with an amazing location and a great benefit.

Any way you stay, it's really about the park.

^ I assume you mean booking for your parents, etc.?

As a 15 year old can't book a hotel room.

Yeah, yeah. I use their credit card when we work everything out (I'm only slightly more computer savvy than they, so they let me book most of the stuff online).
