Playing SMG right now...The graphics are amazing, love the lighting. Also, it's definitely disorienting walking on the mini planets especially upside down. Just picked it up today and got the launch coin with it...the store had a ton of it in stock.

Did we all forget that for those of us who got the Wii on launch, tomorrow (Nov. 19) makes it 1 year old? This time right now as I type, 1 year ago, I was sitting out front of Best Buy playing Mario Kart with a bunch of random people while camping out for the Wii. And I love Galaxy! (I know I already mentioned it but this game's awesome.)

Ok, so I'm going to ask for a Wii for Christmas, but I was wondering about the Virtual Console. How does it work? Is it really simple?
From the Wii Shop Channel... you browse through titles and download them. You have to pay through either credit/debit card or redeem a Wiii points card. 500 Wii Points = $5USD. Most NES titles are 500 Wii points whereas games from N64 are 1000+. Titles from N64 and SNES do not support the Wii Remote. You have to buy the Classic Controller or you can use a GameCube controller that connects to the Wii.

Now they came out with the Zapper, I will pay to see them make a next-gen Duck Hunt game for the Wii!

Anyways, my parents and I are planning to buy a Wii. What games should I get ( Besides GH3 and Super Smash Bros Brawl)?

^Super Smash Brothers Brawl isn't out yet

Super Mario Galaxy for sure... and Twilight Princess.

I would say save your money on Mario Party. I dunno, there was just something missing from the game that made it longer and a lot more boring.

I'm so mad at Wii Sports Boxing right now.

Every time I let my friends play my Wii, the first game they always want to try is the Wii Sports Boxing. I let them play it, and their frantic punching strategy (or no strategy, at that) always levels my Mii up. So now, when I play that one, the opponents are always super merciless. Now I'm just putting down my controllers in the beginning of every fight to level myself down.

Because there isn't really much skill to it, and they probably realise that swinging your arms around wildly is way easier than actually mimicing the moves of a real boxer.

I got Mario Galaxy and my friends and I played it whilst drinking through saturday night. When I turned on my Wii on sunday we had only 3 stars left to find and I dont remember any of it, rubbish!

The main reason I suck at boxing is because my nunchuk barely picks up any movement. And it's just dumb luck when I get a uppercut.

Nunchucks just arnt as responsive. Its the sad truth! I rented Medal of Honor 2 and it has the best FPS controls on the Wii.

Have just purchased Mario & Sonic At The Olympics. Seems ok, the controls seem kind of sensitive though but I didn't play it very long so it probably just takes a bit of practice.

As someone doing gymnastics, having a couple of those events in the game is great but I wish trampoline didn't come down to copying key combinations like it does every time the event is featured in a game. And why can't we have pommel, rings etc? More value in that than doing table tennis yet again!

Am really happy with GH3 too, haven't done WiFi yet but find the Battle element annoying. bought Rayman Raving Rabbids 2 but haven't yet had the chance to play it.

NOTE: This is a rant.

START RANT

I COMPLETELY regret buying the Wii. I remember almost exactly a year ago being SO excited for the brand new, motion sensitive Nintendo system! I waited on line for a total of about 5 hours to get one, freezing my a$$ off in the cold November air, chugging all sorts of hot beverages, and chatting with the other gamers about how awesome the system is going to be. I finally got one in Mid-November, and I loved it. Twilight Princess and Wii Sports were enough to tear my social life apart for a good two months. And that is where my problems with the Wii begin: It held my intrest for only two months! A $250 piece of hardware should keep a somewhat hardcore gamer entertained for more than 60 days! I'm not trying to sound whiney, but ever since I finished Twilight Princess, Trauma Center: Second Opinion, and Wii Sports, I have probably picked up my Wii Remote and Nunchuck to play for probably a total of about 3 hours (that is within 10 months). Around May, I purchased the Xbox 360, a system that really catered to my needs as a gamer: good games, a controller that doesn't need the novelty of motion sensing, and the ability to contact other players through online. I know you may be thinking that it isn't right to compare the two systems, which are about a different from eachother as apple pie and pumpkin pie, and I don't intend to do so. What really sent me off on my anger was E3 this year. I was hoping for something other than the announcement of yet another Wii peripheral (the Balance Board) that was portrayed as a dust collecter that could only be useful to one game, and yet more footage of grandmas, parents, and little kids playing the Wii at the same time. I fully understand that Nintendo wants to spread gaming to all ages, but I am seriously afraid that Nintendo, the industry leader of the 80s and 90s, is going to become just a manufacturer of excercise devices and not cater to their loyal (yet currently aggrivated) hardcore gamer following. It's not that I don't have gripes with the other systems: the 360 is unreliable and Microsoft scalps users with the usage of Microsoft Points, and the PS3 is just a 600 dollar paperweight that has at most 3 quality titles that you can't buy on another system. And it's not that I hate the system itself (it is very sleek and compact), I hate what Nintendo is turning it into: a casual gaming device that is completely made up of gimmickey minigame collections and licensed games. This is just my opinion on the subject; I don't want to start a flame war over the systems, and I don't want to appear as an anti-Wii jerk that tries to push my opinion all over people with the system. Thanks for reading, dragoncoaster out.

END RANT

PS The only reason I haven't bought Super Mario Galaxy yet is that I am too busy with my 360.

PPS Yes I own Metroid Prime 3

PPPS Yes I really liked it

I own 10 games all really good and there are about 15 more games I dont own that are amazing too. I still play Wii Sports but Halo 3 wont keep my interest for over 1 year. I love my 360 and all the amazing games but there are just amazing games for Wii too.

And my 4th 360 in 6 months has died! Whitch means I go a little less than month without a 360!

Im on my first Wii for a whole year!

Now that it's been a year or so, I've built up my collection of Wii games, in which I'm happy with all of them. I currently own now:

Wii Sports (Duh)

Twilight Princess

Monkey Ball

Rayman Raving Rabbids (original)

Excite Truck

Cars

Paper Mario

Wario Ware

SSX Blur

Metal Slug Anthology

Carnival Games

Metroid Prime 3

Mario Galaxy

Red Steel

and Guitar Hero (I almost forgot that I had that one..lol)

That's 15 games total so far, and counting. Still haven't purchased 1 virtual console title yet though. I've got so many games to get back to...still haven't finished Twilight Princess, barely scratched the surface of Metroid Prime 3 as I got stuck, and so on. I'd say that the Wii has a good share of 'harder core' games to it's collection giving that this is it's only existed a year.

On the topic of 'exercise equipment' if done right, that balance board can come in some really good uses and could have a lot of potential if pulled off right. We could have a decent skateboard/snowboarding/surfing type game in which we can lean into turns, maybe a fighting game that can pick up our stances and detect dodges/ducking/side steps via pressure changes. Lastly, to put a cap to my Wii praising, it is obviously still hard to get a hold of and am sure that it will probably go on like this through the rest of the holiday season and a bit into next year, especially with Brawl coming along. (I can't wait!) However, though, I've heard that retailers are holding shipments so that they could sell them on Sunday mornings and advertise it in the Sunday paper. I guess it works...doesn't matter anymore as I already have a Wii.
